@maniac541 do you live in oregon cuase I do and yes portland decides what the rest of oregon does. Nobody but portland Salem and Eugene wanted Kate brown or Tina kotec but here we are. The population in those 3 cities out way the rest of the state by far so we are stuck living under there progressive rule do to the rest of oregon being smaller and rural.
One big thing to note on the decline of the homeless in the last 2 years was not because any of the issues have been resolved but rather we had an extreme number of people die due to fetenal overdoses
We’re moving from northern Vermont to Jacksonville in the next few weeks, and I’m really grateful for your videos - from this one, I think we’ll fit in really well. 😊 Thanks so much, and see you soon!
Absolutely amazing video. I've lived in Salem almost my entire life and I used to hate it here because it seemed boring but it's completely untrue when you actually go outside and as I've gotten older I just really love it here. People are good to one another and if someone is being an A*hole people will defend you or if you need something they will help if possible. As long as you're not a jerk you can thrive here... If your can find work but that's a problem everywhere.
Southern Oregon is a good place to live and retire but you will be bored out of your mind and will need to travel 4 hrs north or south for entertainment
There is lots to do in Grants Pass and Medford area. Try living on the southern Oregon Coast. Now there is not much here. You want to shop or get medical care you have to drive the 2 to 3 hours to the valley to do anything. I see so many events in Jackson County and Josephine County
@Treasure-Hunting-Daydreams right lol I grew up in the Yreka area and it's the same. Most people in medford don't realize how lucky they actually have it. It's been a luxury for me to do a lot of things in Medford I never got a chance to do around Yreka.
I just sold a small studio condo in San Diego for 350K. Please tell me real estate is reasonably priced compared to that - also, Jacksonville looks beautiful. My husband and I are looking for a decent place to retire. San Diego isn't it any longer.
I am working with a couple who are doing the exact thing you mentioned... Moving from San Diego to Southern Oregon to retire. I'm sure you'll find it much more affordable here! Give me a call or text when you're ready to start looking and I can show you what's available that matches what you're looking for. 541-954-7758
I just want to say welcome to Southern Oregon. I was born and raised in San Diego. Pacific Beach and Clairemont area. After 54 years my wife and I moved to Medford 3 years ago. It was the best move ever!
Um, Medford does get earthquakes, somewhat regularly. Nothing incredible, usually no higher than a 4, which is basically a free hula lesson. But Medford has had two 6.0 since 1900 so it’s not unheard of and can be expected again despite the infrequency (no, I’m not predicting one soon). I know this because I am an emergency manager for a federal agency with offices in Medford. It’s a fact of life for all of the west side of the Cascades to the coast from northern Cali to Vancouver BC, live with it or don’t move here.
I've lived here 30+ years and felt one very minor earthquake in that time. I guess anything could happen, but if someone is worried about an earthquake, I think this is a pretty safe place to be. Two over 6.0 in 124 years isn't very frequent in my mind...
Um, no we don't get earthquakes in Medford, OR “regularly” I know this because I was born here and have lived here for 38 years I have only felt one aftershock in 38 years
@@salmaya9274 yea, I've been here for almost 60 yrs and only felt the one that I can remember. There may have been a 4.0 a time or two but barely felt it if at all.
I love Medford, It;s way better than it used to be when it was "Deadford, Bored Again". F all the haters! Why do you think there's so many homeless and rent is so high now. It's because so many folks want to live here, duh! When I was growing up everybody, including me left as soon as they got old enough. I came back tho'. The Valley is kind of like a hole. It sucks you back in. Still, much better than it used to be.
Conservatives? Give me a break. We have the best services for the homeless and helping them make transition into housing. Our 5th season is smoke. It's depressing.
I lived there from 1997 to 2022 and seen lots of changes. The area i love. I started having kids and moved away to raise them away from where medford will be in 10 more years at this rate.
Another minus is that Medford is getting crowded, but instead of widening roads they narrowed some of them to add bike lanes that hardly anyone uses (McAndrews, Main St in down town) causing huge back-ups in traffic during morning/evening commutes, not to mention the stupid roundabout on Springbrook that makes it almost impossible to get out of our driveways during commute times.

It was called Methford for 20 years before 110 went into effect.
Hahahaha YUP!
Is it called fettyville now?
@candacesturtevant7139 Nope still Methford. Still more Meth than Fentanyl
@candacesturtevant7139 Nope still Methford. Still more Meth than Fentanyl
Lived there for years. Love the area, hate the people.
You forgot to mention that half of Phoenix burned, and half of Talent burned down! When talking about fires?
Voting in Southern oregon is pointless. Portland votes for us.
People vote not cities.

Jacksonville is not Medford.
It’s a bit cooler and WAY CUTER!
You’re going to LOVE JACKSONVILLE!
I’m kinda jealous
I’m so sorry. That’s going to be a real rough landing for you.
Really think about it. It's a big expense!
You guys are going to love Jacksonville it's sweet out there
Marijuana still a huge odor problem all over Medford and surrounding areas.
Not in my experience. You must live next to a grow?
Great video. I'm not moving to the area now 😀

Unless you like getting outdoors... There is an endless amount of stuff to do outside. Hiking, biking, golf, camping, etc.

Most honest review of a city I have ever seen on RUclips, made me want to relocate to Medford

Homeless is really bad
I hate Medford auto traffic. Sometimes it's like driving in Boston.

Any rural area will be conservative, even in California
It's almost like they drive from Medford to Sac without getting out of the truck.
California is way more conservative than S.O. so long as you're not in the Bay Area or L.A. County.
Medford isn't really rural. It's just a few hours from any major city.

You gotta back up into the driveway. People will let you cut in when you're coming out nose first.
