Alright guys, here is my second Thomas & Friends VHS review, Spills & Chills! Enjoy!

This was the last Thomas VHS I ever owned and I remember watching it with my folks all the time as a kid. You've never seen adults on the edge of their seats watching a Boulder chasing around remote controlled trains or sheds blowing up or trucks falling off cliffs. This was THE Thomas VHS to own.
I just got Spills and Chills on DVD and can't stop watching it. It so far is my favourite Thomas video narrated by Alec Baldwin.

All the episodes are amazing (With Rusty and the Boulder being my absolute favourite episode of Thomas)!
Plus, I absolutely love the song Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining!
Another one of my personal favorite releases :) This release definitely freaked me out a little bit growing up since I owned the DVD. I had no idea there was a blue tape that had the Magic Railroad trailer until sometime this year. My current VHS copy has it which I’m happy about. Lol. A very unique tape for sure. Though I personally like Races, Rescues & Runaways a little more, Spills & Chills is a great release and again, one of my personal favorites. Great work, Tay! :)
Haunted Henry is my favourite Season 5 episode, I loved Alec Baldwin's narration here and his voice for Old Bailey, and I just love the spooky atmosphere in the episode, it reminded me alot of the Theodore Tugboat episode "Theodore and the Dark and Scary Cove". I first saw this episode on my Halloween DVD "Thomas' Halloween Adventures" and remains one of my favourite episodes on the DVD, and one my favourite episodes overall of Thomas.

Another great review, Taylor. I actually watched this two days before Halloween this year. I don't have Thomas's Halloween Adventures on DVD so this release is the closest one that I would think that would work for a Halloween video. I've added this video to my recently started favourites playlist for you.

Spills & Chills has always been another favorite VHS release of mine (and I also have both that and the DVD copy). I can relate with everyone in saying I was a bit freaked out by the first five episodes as a kid. But now rewatching it again as time went on, I actually find it brilliant, action-packed and bone-chilling at the same time. My favorites on the release are Rusty & the Boulder and Duncan Gets Spooked, and Alec Baldwin nails the spooky tone perfectly in his narrations cause it feels more like a Blockbuster season. I do remember the old copy with the TATMRR trailer with Eric Idle, but on my later copy of the VHS it strangely didn't come with the trailer.
I will say however that for both this release and Thomas' Trackside Tunes, I think Snow should've been put on the former and Sir Topham Hatt's Holiday for the latter. (I get they were saving Snow for the Christmas Wonderland VHS, but that kinda creates some issues considering Trackside Tunes only featured one last new S5 episode being Gordon & the Gremlin and it features a repeated episode from Season 4, but given its UK title).
Mine too. Especially the Thomas & The Magic Railroad Teaser At The Beginning.
I personally liked Michael Angelis' voices of Arry and Very as, I founded that Alec Baldwin's voices for them sounded comical, which is good, I thought they should sound scary rather than funny, Michael Angelis'voices were perfect, they sounded scary and were just how I imagined Arry and Bert would sound.

Toby’s Discovery: I love how this episode is a mix of spooky & adventurous & it has some of the best scenery in the show. But yeah, Bertram ended up being a pretty pointless character. 9/10
Rusty & the Boulder: One of Season 5’s Best, I love the sense of mystery & the boulder chase/shed destruction is one of the best moments in the show. 10/10
Duncan Gets Spooked: As an adult, this episode has become one of my favorites. It’s definitely one of the deepest in the series. 10/10
Stepney Gets Lost: One of Season 5’s best it’s crazy how far they went with this episode. 10/10
Haunted Henry: One of Season 5’s best, The story is great & the spooky scenery/music is top notch. 10/10
Sir Topham Hatt’s Holiday: I’ve never been a big fan of this one. It’s got some good comedy & I like that Season 5 expanded on Topham’s character, But, this one never really excited me. 6/10
I've always noticed with a few exceptions (sir topham hatt holiday being exception for this one) that each season 5 vhs follows a theme
Spills and chills aka this one is about the spooky and intense episodes
Races rescues and runaways loved its over the top crashes and dangers
Cranky bugs was experimental and firsts like first episode with a rolling stock lead, first primarily human focused, first episode focusing primarily on crane plus crankys first appearance
And make someone happy had that more slice of life feel
In "Stepney Gets Lost", Yami, I agree with you that Angelis makes Arry more sinister. Alec Baldwin's Arry comes across like he's Thomas F. Wilson's character of Biff Tannen from _Back to the Future._
Can we all agree this tape has some of Mike and Junior’s best music?
Weirdly enough, I have two blue tape copies of "Spills and Chills" and only one of them had the TATMR teaser, while the other didn't. And both stickers featured the cartoon Thomas illustration that was also featured on the "10 Years of Thomas" VHS.
That was Weird.

2:57 I originally owned a black version of the VHS and I can confirm that my copy came with the TatMR trailer

This is the first VHS to have the current Thomas and Friends logo.
I love the 2004 reprint because not only they’re rare and hard to find, but also because they’re nostalgic and I used to grew up with them. These were reprinted after HIT Entertainment acquired the rights to the show, but despite that, their logo was not seen on any of those tapes, except for the 2005 VHS of James Learns a Lesson. Every other reprints of these classic releases stayed the same.
Best season 5 Release hands down
This year in 2022 is going to be the anniversary of Thomas and the magic railroad
I’m gonna back up on the Duncan get spooked episode rusty never said his story was real or not this is just a episode that demands respect

Regardless if it doesn't look all scary during the day, this question you brought up sums up those that think this episode "started" this wimpy, pathetic, self conscious, fraidy cat, hypochondriac Toby from Seasons 11-16, and Season 20 in one episode, we all know and hate, when it's obvious that it is not true. To quote what The Unlucky Tug said his his Sodor's Finest video on Toby; "It's illogical reasoning. Looking for something that is just not even there."
I used to have this tape when I was little but it had an ink label on it didn't have a sticker label but this is my first Thomas and Friends VHS tape that I ever grew up on
I'm gonna have to disagree with you on who did the Arry/Bert scene better. Sure, Michael Angelis does sound more menacing, but I can barely understand what he's saying.

Holy Shit! Angelis' actually made me jump with that Arry voice. That was actually really good and I HATE Angelis' performances usually.
i didn't have Spills & Chills, but I did have Races, Rescues & Runaways, which also had some of S4 and S5 episodes. However, all of the episodes from my top Classic Era DVDs Cranky Bugs, Spills & Chills and Races, Rescues & Runaways are stellar.
I Once had a dream of moving into a new house and in the dream, I found the spills and chills DVD inside a Cupboard.
This was one the very first Thomas DVDs I got (I got it in the Totally Thomas Pack along with Make Someone Happy and Percy's Chocolate Crunch)

It’s a shortened theme using Headmaster Hastings version of the Thomas theme

I had this blue vhs long ago. But I don’t remember seeing a magic railroad trailer on it. It has been well over a decade since I saw it. But it might’ve been the earlier blue vhs that didn’t have the trailer.

I have that Wooden Douglas release it’s apparently going for $250 on eBay so I’m glad I got it for $25 at a flea market

this was my least favorite VHS as a kid cause a lot of moments scared me and i never saw it again such as the boulder and "Duncan gets spooked"
I had the DVD of this and i still do
And it used to scare the shit out of me
