The more the series went on the more I realized it was about human emotion and relationships. Hacking and fighting the powerful was only a small part of it. It was beautiful. Thank you, Sam Esmail, Rami, Carly, Christian, Gloria, Elliot, Portia, Grace, Martin and the many others. I will not forget this series soon.
Evangelion vibe, This conspiracy thing, with sometimes grotesque villains is a red herring. Mr Robot is a therapy for all his people who, in order to protect themselves from problems that affect them personally, shift the problem into simplistic theories of the world. I believe that this show is necessary especially in our time. We cannot help others, be active in a positive way in society if we have not helped ourselves first
I always like to watch shows that the mainstream ignores. Let the other people watch This Is Us, or Friends reruns. It doesn't matter that only a fringe group of people watch Mr. Robot. It's still great television. I felt the same way about The Americans. Great show, small audience.
this series need a big brain to understand it, a normal person who doesn't understand shit about pain or anxiety can't interact or enjoy these type of arts, because most of the people especially americans (based on researches) only watching CW (the most garbage tv network on the planet)
People who like watching Friends, GOT and then judge others basis on whether they have watched it or not, will definitely not going to like this show! you need the big brain to process what's going on in the show.
This show, in a nutshell, gives insight to how powerful, complex, and how fragile our minds are. There are minds like his that exist in real life, everyday. The human mind is a hell of a biological machine.
Yes but you understand this is a teleivision show and I’ve only heard of people losing time with DID when another personality takes over not this whole arc of personalities talking to each other. Very dramatized?
Of course it's just a show, but you can't deny the science. Sure, Esmail may have embellished a little to enhance the story-telling aspect of it, but I'm pretty sure he consulted with therapists, psychologists, and possibly neuroscientists to get some insight into how DID fundamentally affects people like Elliot.

Elliot will know what happened since all of his personality got merged together in the end. So all of their memories (including ours, cuz we're also one of his personalities) will appear in Elliot's mind.
Rami Malek and Christian Slater were phenomenal. Gloria Ruben, BD Wong and Michael Cristofer were amazing. The others not awesome, Carly Chaikin and Grace Gummer, Portia Doubleday are bad actresses especially Carly oh my fucking God a pain in the ass!!! Martin Wallström not bad..
@@desperatehs882 Carly grew on me. Some episodes weren't great for her but she was badass in the role. Portia's acting.... questionable. Slater is legendary in this show. The funny thing is here, the scenes where Angela tells him he's the mastermind, those shots were filmed in season one. I like that, because Esmail always knew where his show is going to and what will happen at the end.
@TWO EV they were the exact same shots, just different lines in different takes. for one, much easier to film, also much easier to edit. for two, Esmail said many times he already knew how he wanted the show to end. he didn't just all of a sudden think "well remember that one scene in season 4?? let's film another as close as possible to it this season!" -- if you've paid any attention at all during the whole 4 seasons...everything is a calculated move, down to the introduction of a wedding engagement in the withdrawal dream in the first season to the expounding of that SAME ENGAGEMENT in season 4. the same as how the key kept showing up. she GAVE him the key in that episode that we found out THREE SEASONS LATER was the key to his room & the "monster" she referred to wasn't who we thought it was when we first watched.

Probably the happiest and saddest ending to a show I ever seen. Genuinely didn’t see it coming and I’m going to really miss this show. Also enjoyed Homecoming and look forward to more from Sam Esmail.
Here's the TRULY most important plot point that remains answered: Who is sandwich guy? Why always eating on the job? What kind of sandwich? Spicy chicken?
Jesus Arzola-Vega I was under the impression it was zhang bastard son or a operative liaison from the cpc branch that is part of white roses plan that reports back to the cpc to say what is happening or even a in world character that can never let his DNA be found as he’s probably on nearly all the watch lists / no fly lists as he is wanted ie the reason why he’s always wearing a cleaning suit covering all hair.... possible all three
I was very happy with the ending as it kept the show grounded in reality with it's focus on mental illness and healing of Elliot's journey. Thank you Pete for your in depth reviews throughout. You did an amazing job at this. Thank you Sam Esmail for such an incredible and well written series and most of all thank you to ALL the cast for bringing these wonderful characters to life. I'm going to miss this show immensely but happy that they ended it on the 4th season.
Kept show in reality? Why would you expect anything diferent? Show was put everywhere under drama/thriler LOL who ever tought its going to turn to Sci/Fi,you really dont pay atention. No wonder you liked the show. It had to many plot holes, setups that didnt go anywhere and stay unresolved. So disapointing ending. Wanted to watch this show again but... meh
@S G If you disagree, that's one thing, but what does "don't lie" even mean when someone says they were happy with something? Do you have an authority over what things can lead to what emotions in other people?
@Torchy Brown I do agree with you that mental illness, whether be DID or another form of severe mental illness, takes many years to reintegrate and sometimes without further advancement toward any healing. Mental illness is very complex, challenging to each individual. For me it was always about Elliot's journey and all the other plot lines were there for him to make choices and discoveries to move him forward. I loved the ending because he did not die and had Darlene to help him further his recovery/healing. I didn't get the impression that this would be anything but a life long road to continue down. It was the beginning for him now on the right path. Too many individuals with mental illness never make it to this point. I'm speaking from personal experience where my only son lost his life because of mental illness. So yes, I love this ending. This has been Elliot's journey and thank you Sam Esmail for taking this difficult and challenging subject and giving people who have travel this difficult road with loved ones a compassionate and well written glimpse of mental illness through the eyes of Elliot.
This show is just pure art. The plot-twists, the imagery, everything. It just tells the story of fictitious identity of a person(with DID). The life of an emotion which transformed to an identity and took over the host and became the mastermind.
The fact that Elliot needed us to join the 4 alters to make himself whole again moved me in a way i would have otherwise thought impossible from a TV show.. I've always loved and appreciated the music used in the show but Outro by M83 as the final track bought a tear to my eye and the next day put a smile upon my face. Merry Christmas Friend, I'm honoured to have been along for the ride.

@@andrebodin7576 M83 is my all-time favorite 'band' (well, since 2004). He/they are remarkably consistent. If you're new to him, I'd definitely recommend listening to that full album (double album) 'Hurry Up, We're Dreaming' and then maybe follow up with 'Dead Cities, Red Seas & Lost Ghosts.' But all the albums are strong (though there are definitely some misses out there...there's some weird-ass song about frogs that gives me hives) and I'd recommend burning through them all. He does a fair amt of soundtracks too.
@@marissamiller1933 Thank you! I will definitely check that out. I always tune in to the soundtracks of shows and movies if I love the sound of them. I'm not one to break apart a song or score to figure out it's meaning, I just enjoy it for what it is and how it makes me feel.
They brought the sound back that Tyrell heard in the woods. I guess Elliot heard it too. But I think there is still some mystery left in the show even if we got the big answers.
Elliot saved Tyrell from his Evil Corp routine. Tyrell figures out the same things about Evil Corp and Elliot was a kindred spirit. Just because Tyrell died and many other good characters, that doesn’t mean they or Elliot failed. Dying for a good cause is honorable.
I originally thought this show was for the hacker crowd, but this is really about healing and therapy. Hacking the mind. I wonder if the “real” Elliot is actually Sam Esmail?
I believe the mastermind personality was how the real elliot imagined himself with another personality... Chances are he imagined him in his own image but anything is possible
they eyes color at the end scene was green, which Rami Malek's eyes color. So Mastermind & Elliot have the same image. Although, still kinda weird because the imaginary-land cop "Dominique" ID'd him & she told him "Mastermind Elliot" didn't look like supposed "real" Elliot Anderson. So, who knows LOL
When Darlene said "hello Elliott" at the end really gave a good feeling as in something was accomplished, she could tell the real Elliot was back, that the mastermind succeeded and elliiot now has a chance to be happy.
@@jamiew4851 there always be a darlene - but the mastermind cut it out elliots world, because their connection was so strong - that she would wake the real elliot up.

Sam did something that no one else has ever done...it took me a minute to put it together but he made us, all of us who watched, one of Elliott's personalities...think about that for a second...far beyond breaking the fourth wall, far beyond an audiences participation in a show (like what happened with Lost) he let us know how it felt to be one of his other personalities that doesn't know what all the others are doing...that was brilliant... It truly is the show of the decade and I don't think we will ever see anything quite like it again. Thanks to all the many people who made this event possible and thanks to all of Elliott's friends for showing up...
The narrative tool of "Elliot" talking to the audience - 'hello friend' - is also him talking to the real Elliot. At the very end the real Elliot is not revealed because he has been as unaware as the audience, who are now free to imagine him as themselves.
@@fizzmynizz5385 From the 1st "Hello Friend" in S1E1 that is where we (the Voyuers/watchers) are dropped into the story line but we are only watching the Mastermind Elliot / the hacker fake Elliot the whole time in all 4 seasons. the real Elliot is the one in the hospital recovering from the dugs and the D.I.D.
Mr Robot is such a great show. Your recaps and reviews really helped enhance how enjoyable this show was to watch all the way through. Thank you for taking the time and effort to put these videos together. I found out about this show last year and just finished watching the finale now, a little over 4 years ago.
Who would have thought the best show I've ever experienced would be on USA network, A channel for law and order reruns and wrestling. You gotta thank them for not getting in Sam's way with his artistic vision. If it had been a higher budget network, they would have interfered and things could have turned out like the latter half of Twin Peaks season 2.
I love that Our Friend starts on the path to realizing his truth by hacking himself. That's just next level brilliant. And that the end plays with so many of the fan theories without mocking them but spending a little time unfolding in a manner consistent with each of them. Combined with where our main characters land it's a tremendously generous final chapter both narratively and emotionally.
I have to admit that going into the finale I was not optimistic. I felt as though the writers had painted themselves (and Elliot) into a corner and the only way out would be pure cheese, an eye-roller and a letdown. In the end the whole Elliot-as-just-another-alter-ego-like-Mr.-Robot thing worked, incredibly. It was like a bigger mindfuck that wrapped itself around the season 2 prison mindfuck and sprawled across everything. I for one was relieved that they didn't pull some sci-fi explanation/cop out. Sticking within the DID/mental illness realm was the most honest and ultimately most interesting explanation. A fitting end to one of the greatest shows of the 21st century thus far.
"This whole time, I thought changing the world was something you did, an act you performed, something you fought for. I don't know if that's true anymore. What if changing the world was just about being here, by showing up no matter how many times we get told we don't belong, by staying true even when we're shamed into being false, by believing in ourselves even when we're told we're too different? And if we all held on to that, if we refuse to budge and fall in line, if we stood our ground for long enough, just maybe... The world can't help but change around us. Even though we'll be gone, it's like Mr. Robot said. We'll always be a part of Elliot Alderson. And we'll be the best part, because we're the part that always showed up. We're the part that stayed. We're the part that changed him. And who wouldn't be proud of that?"
Have you made Google on meaning of the name Elliot ?? 💥 From the Hebrew Eliyahu, meaning "my God is Yahweh", with "Yahweh" being the ancient Hebrew name for God.
Loved it. From the opening title card with "Domo Arigoto" to the final shot of Darlene saying "Hello, Elliot." It was a beautiful, emotional send-off to a wonderful show.
The real Eliot created the mastermind. He thought of him as a superhero- cyber security engineer by day and a hacker by night. He created him to feel stronger.
I love how this show treats you, the audience. It feels like were part of the show. It breaks the fourth wall in a brilliant way. Mr. Robot deserves to be displayed on my shelf of epic shows and films.
we are elliot. what a perfect ending. i'm still speechless. every show that i loved had problems with finding a worthy ending, but they really pulled it off at this show.
IMO despite the hacking win, the casualties for “Mastermind”’s action is still very damaging, as they lost Angela permanently. It’s the ONE THING that the real Elliot ever wanted, so waking up to that would hurt him as much as his abusive father...
but the bad things are what makes you YOU , as Elliot stated earlier so we have to take the good WITH the bad and live the life we are given and make the best of it. THAT is the premise of what Sam is trying to say in this entire show/series
Stephen Soukup That I agree. Not saying the whole thing is not worth it, just that it’s hard to see Angela gone from the real Elliot’s perspective, since he’s not in on the action mostly.
I was thinking the same thing. The main Elliot will wake to the shock of confronting extreme loss and having little to no memory of the past half year or so. Loved the ending though. At least Darlene is with him.

Thank you, Pete. I followed you during this season. You have a great way of putting things into perspective. I was very impressed with the finale but unsure how to interpret it. I think your take is right on the money. Sam did exactly what I had hoped he'd do. He wrapped up things in an artistic way, giving us actual answers while still leaving room for interpretations. This is how it's done. This is the way! Because he had known all along what he was doing - much like many of us has thought and hoped for. I always thought of MR as a show that revolves around the idea of actual change. And it's hard to let go. It's been such an impeccable ride. Again, thank you, Sir!
Yes I was hoping for a real alternate parallel universe or time travel so things could be fixed and good characters deaths prevented but Sam esmail went deeper. It’s the lesson from the movie/book The Time Machine. You can’t change the past. All you can do is learn from the past and use those lessons today.
javier bonadeo true but there was also the reference to back to the future movies and white rose showed Angela how her machine could bring people back that died.
@@awthirdrock Agree, the Back to the Future motif was hammered in there. Maybe it was just meant to be a collosal red herring. But, watching episode11 with the 'Great life Elliot', I thought it was going with the idea of 'what happened to the Marty McFly who had the cool parents, if Marty who had the dorky parents took over his life?' Did nobody else ever wonder about this?
Harry Solomon also at the end of season 3 it showed the clip of superman turning back time after Lois died and the beginning of next episode Angela died.
So my primary questions are: 1) "Dream" Elliot in Episode 12 say's that both he and the "Mastermind" look the same yet in Episode 13 Dom states that the Mastermind looks nothing like the ID he gave her (Dream Elliot's ID). So im just wondering if "Dream" Elliot actually looks like Rami Malek or not. 2) which personality then said to Tyrell the whole speech about "looking what's above you"? Was that just "mastermind" playing God (as he so states at the end of Ep 13)? As Mr Robot never recalls saying that at all. 3) We know that Darlene spoke to the Real Elliot as told to us in 4X02 about Vera. When was this conversation? How did this real Elliot come out because Darlene was there? Why could Darlene bring him out . in the first place? Hope you guys have answers to some of these questions! Thanks
Jojo's ASMR Dom pretty much called the Mastermind out and knew he wasn’t the real Elliot Alderson. It was a dream. Saying he looked nothing like Elliot was merely a way of saying this in his head. Remember, Darlene had to figure out that it wasn’t Elliot. So they must look alike.

Loved your summary and agree with everything you said. Great ending. I liked how all the cars were white, except Elliot's SUV. (and there might have been 1 grey one at the parking lot). All the white cars were the first thing I noticed when Elliott was leaving the park he "woke up in", so obviously knew it wasn't a real alternate reality. I guess the one thing that's still in my head was the sound in the woods and the blue light that Tyrell saw before he died.
I'm still processing.. But I can't help but feel like there were some details that needed to be fleshed out more to feel more real. Namely Whiterose' project or atleast the fact that she was lying to herself about its functionality.

I started watching this show around a month ago after listening to all the hype around it, and man I’m so happy I finally watched it. Just watched the finale this morning before going to school and I haven’t felt this emotionally attached to a show since breaking bad. This is certainly one of the best pieces of art I have ever watched and I’m going to miss coming back from school and just seeing what Elliot is up to. Your reviews were also great since it helped me thoroughly fathom what’s going on.
If a show doesn't have you guessing and thinking from the 1st episode about possibilities, then that show didn't do it's job...That said i think Mr. Robot has done it's job. What a ride.
Now i am thinking seriously can having multiple identity can cure our pain or we human still say it is a disease. I think now we all must accept that having multiple identity can make human well and improve our problem
@@shanksingh7613 I don't think its about the multi-personality is supposed to be a 'cure' in this show, but rather showing how one with DID copes with the pain of mental trauma. @V. V Well its unfortunate that you're disappointed, however I was satisfied. Yea for sure there was still a lot of questions, but I'm sure most will be answered upon re-watching which is how some series end off. Its not necessary to answer all questions at the end of a series tho since sometimes the director wants discussion.
I just realised that Sam Esmail was giving us clue all the time. Didn´t anyone and I mean ANYONE really notice that Mr. Robot called our guy Kiddo whole time, but never Elliot? Same as all other personalities never called him Eliot. That is just mind blowing for me :-O

I love the fact that it didn't become another sci-fi tv show at the end. I only found your reviews for this 4th season Pete, but I am so glad I did. It really helped me understand the show more and open my eyes to the social issues that are going on in the background. Having said that, since the 5 minute scene in S01 E01, in Ron's Coffee shop, no show has had as profound impact on me as Mr. Robot. This is by far the 🐐 show and it's hard to believe it is over but by no means am I disappointed with the ending. What Sam Esmail created is unbridled and if this season does not get at least nominated for an Emmy, then something is seriously wrong with the industry.
Basically, they stuck the landing. Whether that was a complete integration at the end or not is unclear, and, it really doesn't matter. What I take from that cinema scene is that the various personalities were passing their memories on to Elliot so that when he woke up, everything the Mastermind and Mr Robot experienced would be there, meaning his coming to terms with his childhood, reconnecting with Darlene, saving the world, etc., were not just something that happened for no reason. Whether the personalities subsequently "died" is unclear and doesn't really matter. I, too, think it will be interesting to re-watch the show with the knowledge of what is really going on and see it all playing out. I think so many scenes will have so much more depth now. Even the sitcom episode and the extended "hallucination" during the prison time served a purpose - establishing that a very realistic fantasy world could be created and a personality dropped into it. I actually got a feeling that Esmail may have read When Rabbit Howls and that served as some level of inspiration for Mr Robot. Either way, When Rabbit Howls has a pretty similar setup (but with 80 odd personalities instead of a handful).
Such a good show... I'm kind of empty now but it was really one hell of a ride. No one I know watches it so thanks for being my stand-in friend to discuss the show with. It touches on some really deep and existential topics, and I think it is ultimately about reconciliation. In the end it's about reconciling all the parts of ourselves and our humanity. It goes to show that there is an intrinsic value in just getting up everyday and trying, for ourselves and for the people around us, even if we can't save the world.
I haven’t viewed any of your other content, but I do have to say I am enjoying it! It’s sad to know we’re not getting anything more from Mr. Robot, but I hope Sam goes on to do more great work in the future. It ended on a good note, at least! Thanks for taking your time, I find it really fun to listen along to someone who has the sane thoughts as I do.
I still dont understand why would Whiterose kill herself if she knows that machine wont work... Either she wanted to prove the same thing she claimed that she shown Angela ??? Or she went crazy that she failed to Elliot and killed herself... I stick to the first thought and we might be missing something Sam Esmail trying to convey !!! 🤔
WR is a cult leader. thats what crazy cult leaders do. they kill themselves and try to make their followers do the same...all for no reasons. but in THEIR minds it all makes sense :)
Ok so Whiterose killed herself in the same room as Elliott was. After the place blows up she is still in the same room as Elliot. How is he not greeted with police officers when he wakes or handcuffed as a suspect of her murder?
@@tonyrodriguez7622 i am guessing it might be a few days after the event, police might have done their investigation. Easy to check hand prints and GSR on the gun and white rose's suicide position, Elliot might be treated like a witness rather than a suspect.
For all we know, she was right and the machine would have worked. She let Elliot decide whether or not to let the machine create a parallel world. She made it clear she didn't want to live in this world anymore, so she killed herself.
Some series finales are so overwhelming , they take you to a different state of existence , goosebumps all over your body , tears in your eyes , heart pounding rapidly . Thank you Sam Esmail Thakyou Mr Robot
@Noise Pollution let me guess ,you watched 1st season of each and gave up ? The Wire was a slow burn in the first few episodes but after that it was amazing. Also ,the ending was as good as Mr. Robots last night.
Both of those two shows could be regarded as the best of television ever. But we can't compare Mr. Robot. It's an entirely different genre. Personally I think Mr. Robot is better in many ways. Mr. Robot was more thrilling and entertaining. But on the other hand, The Wire and Sopranos did a great job of realistic world-building and created the foundation of modern television drama which dare I say paved the way for shows like Mr. Robot. What I'm saying is... we're lucky to live in this era. I'm hoping to see more of these shows!
This has got to be the first show that is from the perspective of one alter in a person with DID. Who would have thought it would work at all? Sam Esmail is crazy and ambitious in the best way.
This. This show was created by some genius storytelling masterminds. Can't name a movie or TV series on the same level in terms of character depth and unexpected plot twists. This was a hell of a ride. Enjoyed every moment of it.
I've watched a lot of tv shows to their final conclusions throughout the years and most of them I have been extremely disappointed with but this one delivered such a satisfactory ending. What an awesome ride this has been from start to finish!
It's pretty wild how, right from the very start, we are the 'friend', and that we needed to exist as a part of Elliot too, because we witnessed all the events that took place that Elliot wasn't physically present to see, but had to be constructed for the story to make sense.
How has no one come up to me and asked me if I’ve watched this series? It’s so amazing, so well thought out. It stumbled at times but stuck the landing. Cinematography, directing, EDITING, and not to mention acting chops from nearly everyone given more than 30secs on screen. They even had rap artists, that weren’t throw away gangsters!
I'm curious how was it satisfying? I found it unexpected, yes.. but that is due to it in zero way being foreshadowed whatsoever during any of season's 1 - 3's episodes... And it only being clumsily set-up during the 4th Season. To me the ending was more done purely to be unexpected, and "Deep"... It does not feel during first 3 seasons that this was ever thought as it's trajectory.... This is how I felt, im genuinely curious how it was satisfying to others? Please help me see!
ffejpsycho I can see how you could come to that opinion, but to me Esmail has talked about how the main focus of Mr. Robot has always been Elliot’s journey - the hacking and anticapitalist politics, while compelling in their own right, were always peripheral to that. I think the reveal of the Elliot we know turning out to just be one of the personalities makes perfect sense - in fact the existence of Mr. Robot itself kind of foreshadows that as a possibility
This show was so fucking amazing. The cast, the details, the locations, everything. Rami and the rest did such an amazing job. Sam Esmail is the true mastermind. I litteraly tell EVERYONE about this show, but they don’t seem to care.. On the other side i’m happy this gem isn’t mainstream. Damn, this was such a rollercoaster filled with emotions, mindfucks and joy. Goodbye, friend.
In world quibbles. Trenton and Mobley still considered terrorists? Or did 4x09 clear them? Angela's dad know she was murdered? What did wr show her specifically? Elliot waking up to find out his best and oldest friend was murdered because of his alter 😬 Needed some coverage on one of the most powerful men in the world being publicly assassinated. Ok other than those questions, I loved the finale!! Back to the Future 2 sequence, Elliot's "I love you" to Angela was cathartic for so many reasons, the moving box said self storage lol, creepy clones of Christian Slater, 1x04 is now one of the most important episodes of the show, the reveal was very well done and completely fitting. You think the final shot will be a close-up on Rami thus Elliot, but quite the opposite. It's Carly and works with Elliot finally waking up. Hello, Elliot. Goodbye, friends. Bravo Esmail!!
the final scene in the episode is so inspired from 2001 a space odyssey and knowing how that film ended and with how darlene interacted with elliot in the final scene, i can interpret the ending in a whole different way which i love that it's ended in a satisfying but it's ambiguous as well, god this show is a masterpiece, thank you sam esmail and the cast and crew who helped build this
Pete you did a great job , the whole time. I'll miss the show as well I emotionally watched the last episode meaning I didn't absorb everything. To be honest my first reaction was anger , I waited a few days to even come on the internet and see how other people felt about it. I wanted to understand it the right way the first time, this video did that for me. It makes complete sense now, I understood he was the other one for a long time before they even uttered the words 'the other one' , but you really peeled back the layers. I didn't get to go back through the whole show and piece together, now I dont have to after viewing this, but I will anyway. The long break between the 3rd and 4th season , then going back to events in the 1st and 2nd.. We're talking 5 years ago, I've rewatched but still , watching it with this NEW understanding is going to make it so much better. I can't wait to notice a ton of things , after the conclusion the rewatch is the real gift because knowing the ending little details will stand out a lot more. I am sure there are a ton of how did I miss that moments... Maybe even things that were answered earlier in the series , that people didn't understand because they needed to make it to the end first. To then go back for the re-watch and get MORE answers from old episodes. Sam is so smart I wouldn't be surprised if he did something really clever like that. So much symbolism in this series , can't help but think the answers are backward...
I will miss this show.
I was sobbing saying goodbye
I am in ultra sad mode
I'm still confused. How much will real Elliot know when he wakes up? And what was up with the machine and the Congo? I guess White Rose was really crazy? Alternate reality theory was just a distraction? Please help me if possible. I don't feel I fully understand
@@Zwarhol real elliot knows everything, therevwas a nuclear powerplant at congo elliot stopped the meltdown but there was a small explosion abut elliot was safe bevause he was in a protected room
the last scene panning out from his iris I was hoping for a full pan to find something unexpected that would have been a huge AHA moment ... the ending, I felt a bit like I was left hanging, the hint was when Elliot was stopped by Dominique DiPierro as a cop in front of the box and checked his ID saying "this doesn't look like you" ... anyway it was a great ride
@Politically correct speech isn't my thing, fk off what a troll lol

Evangelion vibe, This conspiracy thing, with sometimes grotesque villains is a red herring. Mr Robot is a therapy for all his people who, in order to protect themselves from problems that affect them personally, shift the problem into simplistic theories of the world. I believe that this show is necessary especially in our time. We cannot help others, be active in a positive way in society if we have not helped ourselves first
Yup Elliot always found the people as exploits throughout the show whenever he was stuck in a situation
Yes! Exactly, that's exactly what I thought just after the end! 100% accurate
It really bothers me that there aren't more people watching this.
they will, they're just late
This show will be cult classic in the future
@@alexandersletten150 other personalities/alters can communicate with each other and also be co conscious. Definitely check out multiplicityandme and dissociadid here on RUclips. Host Elliot is going to be PISSED now that he's finally awake.

Not pissed per se, but sad definitely.
Thats what gets me. After all of that and even though they did good overall, he's kind of responsible for Angela's death?

Elliot will know what happened since all of his personality got merged together in the end. So all of their memories (including ours, cuz we're also one of his personalities) will appear in Elliot's mind.
When you realise this series was deeper than overthrowing a corrupt government it’s way deeper than that
yep.
it really wasn't - that's the point.
It's really about overthrowing yourself.
Emm..it was an enterprise, not a goverment
Partly it was about mental health, healing, and living in the time of now, where everything is fucked

Lets give it up to the casting in this show. Nothing less than phenomenal acting and stellar performances!
Amen.
I think you’re right, White Rose was a spy master, he must have the brain washing technique down to a science hence the time travel BS.
@@desperatehs882 Carly grew on me. Some episodes weren't great for her but she was badass in the role. Portia's acting.... questionable. Slater is legendary in this show. In every single character, right?
The funny thing is here, the scenes where Angela tells him he's the mastermind, those shots were filmed in season one.
I like that, because Esmail always knew where his show is going to and what will happen at the end.
And how do you know?
@@FCumbe watch the first and the last season, that's how you know..
@TWO EV Of course, because those shots are the same exact scenes in s1 and s4
@TWO EV they were the exact same shots, just different lines in different takes. for one, much easier to film, also much easier to edit. for two, Esmail said many times he already knew how he wanted the show to end. he didn't just all of a sudden think "well remember that one scene in season 4?? let's film another as close as possible to it this season!" -- if you've paid any attention at all during the whole 4 seasons...everything is a calculated move, down to the introduction of a wedding engagement in the withdrawal dream in the first season to the expounding of that SAME ENGAGEMENT in season 4.

Wanted to watch this show again but... meh
Miroslav Nikotic it’s okay, it’s not for everyone
This has been Elliot's journey and thank you Sam Esmail for taking this difficult and challenging subject and giving people who have travel this difficult road with loved ones a compassionate and well written glimpse of mental illness through the eyes of Elliot.
wait so is everything that happened in the show (white rose/fsociety/the hacks/etc.) real, or was it all in host elliot's head?
This show is just pure art. The plot-twists, the imagery, everything.
It just tells the story of fictitious identity of a person(with DID).
The life of an emotion which transformed to an identity and took over the host and became the mastermind.
the best explantion
Pure art, until the end...
It's totally the song that I want for my funeral. I've given this considerable thought.

@@marissamiller1933 Thank you! I will definitely check that out. I always tune in to the soundtracks of shows and movies if I love the sound of them. I'm not one to break apart a song or score to figure out it's meaning, I just enjoy it for what it is and how it makes me feel.
Yeah same here that ending brought a tear and the scene where he admitted he was abused did too. An amazing show
Still not 100% sure on what's going on with Tyrell
Tyrell died and thats the end
They brought the sound back that Tyrell heard in the woods. I guess Elliot heard it too. But I think there is still some mystery left in the show even if we got the big answers.
bro, same. the blue light he found in the snowy woods still got me thinking wtf was that
Elliot saved Tyrell from his Evil Corp routine. Tyrell figures out the same things about Evil Corp and Elliot was a kindred spirit. Just because Tyrell died and many other good characters, that doesn’t mean they or Elliot failed. Dying for a good cause is honorable.
Season 2 Episode 7 (intro)
@@crozraven That's not so literal tho. It's Elliot's mind telling the mastermind that he's not actually Elliot.
@@bakeneko3993 Someone got it.
Actually we audience are the true Elliot here. Remember Darlene sayin it to us

appreciate all of your recaps. am really going to miss this fucking show. one of the most overlooked and underappreciated of the decade.
I imagine him as Don Knotts.
So within the whole series, was the fake Elliot talking to the real Elliot (the audience)?
@@fizzmynizz5385 From the 1st "Hello Friend" in S1E1 that is where we (the Voyuers/watchers) are dropped into the story line but we are only watching the Mastermind Elliot / the hacker fake Elliot the whole time in all 4 seasons. the real Elliot is the one in the hospital recovering from the dugs and the D.I.D.

I'd like to see a show or even a mini-series about Irving.
yes! Spin off series?
Well said sir!!

Yes I was hoping for a real alternate parallel universe or time travel so things could be fixed and good characters deaths prevented but Sam esmail went deeper. It’s the lesson from the movie/book The Time Machine. You can’t change the past. All you can do is learn from the past and use those lessons today.
damm bro, the show was never about sci fi crap. From season 1 to 4 it was about personality, traumas and deal with it

So my primary questions are:
1) "Dream" Elliot in Episode 12 say's that both he and the "Mastermind" look the same yet in Episode 13 Dom states that the Mastermind looks nothing like the ID he gave her (Dream Elliot's ID).
I would also add to what happened during the three days after 5/9 attack.
@@angelgiugni1885 that was when the real Elliot took over

So what did Whiterose show Angela and why did Angela at first believe that the machine would work ?
Crazy cult leaders are good at manipulating people to believe in their "reality".
She brainwashed her and may have hypnotized her using mechanisms like ticking clocks. She may have drugged her. It happens.
@@orangeblossom334 Whiterose somehow convinced Angela that she could be taken to an ideal world outside of her unjust reality, of course that was just a fantasy.... a huge parallel to how the audience was tricked into believing Elliott reincarnated to a perfect world ..... of course the machine never worked, that world was actually the Mastermind's safeguard for the real Elliott, it had nothing to do with Whiterose.
@@orangeblossom334 In the later scene where Angela rewinds the video of the crumpling building, it suggests that she's lost it and have no idea how White Rose is going to achieve what she claims, and absurdly tries to justify the nonsense she have heard, by comparing it to rewinding a video. However Angela is neither gullible or a fool up to that point, so she must have suffered some kind of breakdown, visiting White Rose.
Because Angela is Gullible.
We'll never know if it worked or not and I'm totally okay with that.
its was just a farce/scam and was never going to work. just a crazy idea by a psyco cult leader. all along and she brainwashed all those D/A folks and Angela to buy into it
@@sjsphotog I always figured it was nothing but I would have liked to see where Whiterose got the idea, why she put it underneath a nuclear reactor and whether she knew it was bullshit and just used it for manipulation/control or whether she manipulated herself into believing it could work. I will say that there are many sides to this show, and many details, so I may have missed or forgotten something along the way but I would have also liked to see or hear more about Elliot's dad's/Angela's mom's connection to E corp/Whiterose.
@@MeanStreamFraudCast I think it's implied that Elliots dad/Angela's mom were working near a nuclear reactor, and suffered radiation for working on WR's project with that reactor in the same facility. WR was delusional and had money. I think thats the basis of her character.
@@MeanStreamFraudCast i think it was under the plant because it was a necessity as a Very Large Hedron Collider (VLHC) takes a LOT of power to run, like a super computer needs super cooling systems. do a wikipedia search on VLHC. it also helped her "hider" it from the suspicious eyes who would have wanted to shut it down and maybe cause investigations into its intent and the $$ associated with it. after all the Deus group was a shadow org after all so......it was all on the down low/hush hush and WR convinced all her donors to keep it that way.
I thought this Ending made this Series an Unique Piece of Brilliance. U jst have to Think about all the Brilliant thought process of the Build Up..❤️🔥

This show made me cry quite a few times. I’m not ashamed. What a great show and I feel after finishing it that I’m changed in a way.
Gotta love how the lyrics of "outro" match so well with the show:
-"I'm the king of my own land" real elliot finally getting back control of his mind.
-"Facing tempests of dust, I'll fight till the end" all the shit he went trough
-"Creatures of my dreams rise up and dance with me" all of his splinted personalities getting back together
-"Because now and forever, I'm your king" same as the first verse
Thank you pete for all of your reviews and the community.Hoping the best from you in future!!!✌
"Secret Secret I've Got a Secret".
Loved it.
What a mind blowing finale.
Thank you Dam Esmail!
This was deep........ Loved the finale. Applause to everyone involved! Such a great job. This is def one of my favorite shows of all times. Love Rami❤.
Alright I know I'm late but remember in season one when Mr. Robot tells Elliot, "You're the only force of nature at play here." Man this show.
At the end he realizes himself through the illusion of having multiple identities to be whole again. The whole journey of the show is him over coming his trauma.
Mb except for the s1e1, where he says to him: "You are in prison like my father-thief right now Elliot. And I'm gonna break you out."
@@patchessmind that can be taken in so many ways
@@ezwar99 he was talking to the elliot deep down who was in a type of prison inside of the mastermind
Darlene and Angela call him Elliot regularly. So did Gideon and many others.
@Tango Nevada Yes that is exactly my point, only Mr. Robot knew who he was talking to and he always called him Kiddo.
Not sure how I feel about the ending tbh. Can't decide whether I loved it or hated it. I think I need to rewatch it.
same here! i did not know how to react...
@@WillyP718 yeah it was a weird one for sure. Funnily enough my wife totally called it bang on correctly early in the season that the Eliot we were watching all along was an alter ego, even before we knew there was a third so I'm not sure whether that's clouding my overall opinion because it didn't come as a massive surprise lol
I could say that the ending wasn’t something that i sought for. The ending seems pointless on some point. But it was thoughtful.
A perfect finale, imo
I love the fact that it didn't become another sci-fi tv show at the end. Before The Mastermind killed Elliot I wished he did the right thing, but he didn't, so I was more than happy that he gave Elliot his life back at the end. This was a true masterpiece. I love it even more after seeing the end and I will miss this experience so, so much...
Goodbye friend.
This is the most outstanding, out of this world show that I have EVER saw in my hole life!
Nearly 4 months later and the ending still manages to make me cry. Love this show with all my heart.
I lone the ending alot..made me realise what state of of mind I am in right now..I am in hope and depression at the same time..I know what I was and what I am but also Anchoring me to my true self..I lost my wife to suicide..I can believe what thoughts went through..
Appreciated your recap of the finale. Helped me understand/interpret what happened better. Thanks!
Thanks for all the great reviews dude.
This show almost took Avatar: The Last Airbender's place as my favourite show ever. It's so good, I love it.
You have great taste, two 10/10 shows
I haven’t viewed any of your other content, but I do have to say I am enjoying it!
I think White Rose was fanatical and believed in her machine. But then I can't answer why she would help Elliot to stop the machine.
Thank you Sam Esmail
Thakyou Mr Robot
this show is right up there for me with the likes of Sopranos or The wire.
I'm hoping to see more of these shows!
breaking bad > sopranos, the wire
Mr. Robot, Dark and Breaking Bad are definetely the best shows.
@Noise Pollution you just revealed your own ignorance
This ending was *chef's kiss* perfectly aligned with the themes of the show and general setup--twist nature of the story telling. Love this show.
Enjoyed every moment of it.
what a poetic finale , what an amazing tv serie , what a genius Sam Esmail, I’m still crying 😪❤️👏
Tbh I was just hoping that the mastermind would say "goodbye friend" at the end.
The real mastermind of the series is Esmail, absolutely loved the ending and the series will always be an all time favourite of mine.
The most unexpected yet perfectly satisfying final twist I’ve ever seen tbh. Perfectly executed by Esmail and the actors
Thank you for the explanation. The ending left me scratching my head but your video cleared up a lot of points.
Goodbye Friend! Best show.... I will miss it
This show was so fucking amazing.
Bravo Esmail!!
the final scene in the episode is so inspired from 2001 a space odyssey and knowing how that film ended and with how darlene interacted with elliot in the final scene, i can interpret the ending in a whole different way which i love that it's ended in a satisfying but it's ambiguous as well, god this show is a masterpiece, thank you sam esmail and the cast and crew who helped build this
I cried for about half the episode...
I just watched it and I'm still crying

As a person who loves all the characters, this was a very satisfying ending
