Whoa! Now that’d be something that you don’t see everyday. But what I can sure say to that is cool! A CFE Train going through an abandoned Railroad Crossing that’s surprisingly still active, & with a vintage Cantilever, per se, plus a Mechanical Bell that sounds a lot like a Westinghouse Hybrid Bell by it’s tone!
He did a Railroad Crossing Tour Video that literally explains everything about why it’s closed, alongside showing what Railroad Crossing Signal Equipment that the Railroad Crossing itself has.
I think because it was actually painted, crossing signals got full coats of paint back in the day, but now masts and bells are unpainted stainless steel I believe. The paint is flaking away which is why it looks so bad, but the rust isn't that bad
This was cool! Did the hospital force the closer of the road? How long has it been closed? Looks like modern DOT tag on it. Looks like the opposite signal was replaced in the 70s
Thx. And I'm honestly not sure on the story of the closing of this road, but it's been closed off for about 10 years now. the hospital may have been forced to. And I'd say the opposing signal was replaced at one point, hence the lack of a bell on it, and the odd light variation
I like how the driver still blows the horn even when the road is gone
Yeah same, I thought that was funny too
As long as the signals are up and operational, he may be required to by law
Well I never!!! It works still!!

Boy I am going to miss hearing CFE 3486's horn in Lima
Can I have a story on why the crossing is closed?

Nice catch! Y’all should try to catch HESR 810 from Durand
Thx. And I will try doing that in the future
for how poor condition the bell is in, its very healthy

@@carolinarailfanningthanks for clarifying that I never knew they were painted

Yw. I would be interested in it's story
