Copenhagen's Best Smørrebrød is Found at Aamanns 1921

- Adam Aamann opened his first restaurant in Copenhagen 12 years ago, with the idea of revitalizing the Danish "smørrebrød" - open-faced sandwich. Aamann wanted to modernize this classic dish of rye bread with various toppings, while at the same time staying true to the traditional Nordic cooking techniques of pickling, curing, salting and smoking. At his latest restaurant, Aamanns 1921, in the middle of Copenhagen city center, his head chef Max Surdu is making magic with classic condiments like herring, salmon, and shrimps and eggs, but you also get a killer tartar with browned butter sauce.

@@georgewbushcenterforintell147 Making open-faced sandwiches, especially for breakfast, is very common in the Nordics in general. But usually not as fancy looking as these. ;)
Anders Husa & Kaitlin Orr I’m danish and we do eat a lot of open faced sandwiches with rye bread, but it’s generally something we have for lunch, not breakfast.
How do you order?
One or two at a time, or a bunch together??
They usually recommend 2-3 per person.

Jag har bott utomlands i sammanlagt 30 år - i Europa, men också i Turkiet, Kina, Ryssland, Tajikistan, Marocko, Ukraina och andra länder, så jag är van att längta efter skandinavisk mat 🙂 Om 3-4 månader är jag i Sverige igen, och då bli det sill, knäckebröd, räksmörgås, smörgåstårta, lax med romsås, kokt potatis och rödbetssallad för hela slanten 😊

As a local.., I call BS ! Apparently you haven't been to any of the other good ones in town. Notice that I´m not trashing "Aamanns", there good, but calling them the BEST is somewhat of a stretch 😒
