The first time I listened to Zeit and saw the video, I felt broken by it. It was such an unexpected song and it hit where it hurt as well for me. Even now, I can listen to it 20 times and enjoy the song and marvel at the video but the 21st time, it'll hit me again and there's not many songs that do that. I'm quite stoic about most things including death but circumstances have changed my view on life. Be kind to as many people as you can be but be angry with those who deserve your anger. Life's too short for the nonsense that people dish out. Both the song and the video are phenomenal works of art, both hauntingly and achingly beautiful. The smoke, by the way, is sand-the band are either trying to battle against the sands of time or are embracing the sands of time passing depending on the band member. The use of blindfolds is clever as well as we're all blind as to what time will bring to us. Robert Gwisdek was the director on this one. Been hoping you'd react to Zeit as son as possible so thanks. But tell me, who else in 2022 can simultaneously make a sane track, put at least some sense into it (especially philosophical) and shoot a cool video on it? The director of Zeit and Angst is Robert Gwisdek also know as Käptn Peng. He’s an alternativ hip hop artist and producer. Deutschland was directed by Specter Berlin who’s also a rap producer. It’s nice to see Rammstein work together with people from different genres to make amazing videos
My interpretation and thought was time goes on like a continuous cycle and those rare occasions when we are truly happy of course we want time to stop. The showing of the sand and hourglass ⌛ time keeps going and them showing the scenes reversing to me meant a desire to go back in time either to the moment of birth and start our lives over or to before we're even born saying no i don't even want to be born i want to go back before i was even conscious of my own existence and mortality. Them being blindfolded to me was no one knows whats going to happen in the future we don't know what kind of lives these babies are going to have.
I like the name of our planet. It's so big and for everyone, and yet so close to each one of us and personal. From the earth we come and to the earth we go back. We can stop, jump, crawl, run - not fly. We cannot leave the cycle. That's not natural. Sometimes we have to take off our shoes to gain self-knowledge and to acknowledge the uncontrollable. To feel the earth - beginning, end, and everything in between - under our feet. Then realizing this and individually drawing conclusions and lessons, also maybe setting goals. And then noticing that we stand with both feet firmly in life as long as we are aware of being alive. A song about reflection, admission, acceptance. A song meant to make us do this. I also see it a bit further, in the way that generally from problems, burdensome things, thoughts, feelings, fears should not be run away. Recognizing time is hidden in everyone deeper or less deep inside and everyone knows it, but how ultimately it is dealt with... Personally, I think preserving memories - primarily without using external media - is the key to life.

Another thing that came to my the babies being put back in to the mother to be born again on earth and also coming back in a sense they died on earth and are now being born in the other world and their birth or rebirth on earth is them already starting to die because as soon as your born your dying..your dying to live or as Rammstein put it "Wir sterben weiter bis wir leben" "We keep dying until we live" because in a sense what we perceive as dying is us actually being born again into the other world that's why the girl in the end seems happy when she dies because she knows that her death here means her being born over there..if that makes any Sense? This is art at its finest..a true Masterpiece!!

In Germany we still say „life hangs at a thin rope“ when things are getting dangerous or somebody is really hurt or sick. The Nornes are no gods. They just represent the time of a life. People can‘t influence time and a lot of things that happens. The life of everyone is created by the Nornes what means by the time. And we all sitting in the same boat mightless in the sands of time.
