- A look around Guilford Transportation Industries ex-Portland Terminal Rigby Yard in South Portland,ME in August of 1989. An eastbound road freight with a SD40,SD45,SD26 power set comes in, also a couple of B&M blue GP9's switching and on locals. Then the road set goes east with an ex-MEC GP7 added to the consist! Video by the late Richard 'Moose' Ouellette. If you like our stuff, Please comment and/or subscribe!
Great seeing this again after years away from daily visits! So much has changed and now with CSX ownership even better! Amtrak bypasses the 1 & 2 tracks now, no building in field across from office and just now adding roadways to field from office side again!!!
Wait a second! You mean there were days when conductors waved at railfans instead of calling the police?
He was extremely rude, of course he's a little guy so I guess that makes him feel like a big man, I got in my truck and left without saying anything rude or disrespectful (like him). I better not catch him off railroad property. Craig
I was hoping to see some oldschool graffiti but every train was clean lol. What year did people start painting freight in maine? I know a lot of people don't appreciate it but my favorite part of watching trains go by is looking at all the graffiti pieces.
So I've seen this in multiple videos now. We're they not required to blow their horns at crossings?
Great video! Was that Old Orchard in the beginning at 0:26? I am trying to make it out but I can't recognize it. I have wanted to see what the crossings around Portland have looked like back in the late 80's early 90's and I am glad you have some footage of them!
I have no problem with someone doing their job....if he had said "could you please leave" or something to that effect, I would have been disappointed but ok with it. His first words were "Can you f**king read?" I have a problem with that. Un-professional behavior! Craig
It was good to let off some steam Chuck....glad you like the vids, i'll keep 'em coming, Craig PS believe it or not that guy is a railfan, gives us a bad name.
Only one sd26 remains in pices in watterville, maine.
Yeah it's sad none were saved. At least we have models thanks to Atlas.
Joe yeh
@@BERXJoe I got one in my room
Yeah, I'm not sure where that first shot is either, could be Old Orchard. Craig
I used to visit Rigby years ago. Now it is so empty no roundhouse, turntable, or back shop. I seen them removing the turntable. Memories all lie here with your videos Thanks for posting my fellow railfan.
I just looked again...maybe Pine Point?
Thanks for posting this, getting to see an SD45HN and a GP9 together on a power set was a treat!
Aye, aye Cap'n
My pleasure Dan!
Thanks brother
Great video! Nice power
Hi Chuck, I have to add to your comment, I had been railfanning at Rigby for 50 years...my grandfather brought me there, my dad brought me there, I brought my kids there, mind you the ONLY place I ever went was the employee parking lot by the yard office. I never had a problem with any employees, as a matter of fact anyone we spoke to was very helpful and pleasant! HOWEVER two years ago I stopped in to take a look and I got disrespectfully reamed out by the dickhead yardmaster Jamie Robinson
