I actually thought the guy looked really hot as a goth, though yeah, I would've needed to swoop in with a makeup wipe and some concealer and just de-Crow him a little bit! Though, actually - it's kind of accurate. When most guys (and some girls) try gothic makeup for the first time (usually circa 14 years of age), many of them DO go for The Crow, and it takes at least 6 months before they realise 'this isn't working'. So, they should've done a *progression*, like 'Here's shitty first-time-out teen-goth makeup that we ALL did and we ALL regret, and here, 10 years later, is something fucking spectacular' ;)

I only disagree on one thing... Brandon Lee (RIP) absolutely looked gorgeous in his "crow" makeup! I do think that nobody else has ever been able to pull that look off since him but I really liked him so I'm probably a little biased.
The thing about Brandons Crow is they didn't use as much makeup as this guy and that is what made his crow look work.
Steampunk Lady of time and it didn't hurt that he was pretty without makeup but you're probably right.

I work for that channel and we really wanted to do it justice for world goth day which is why we got someone in who had a gothic portfolio of work instead of getting people to try it themselves. Her hair is red true but not auburn. It's just my personal opinion (so take with a grain of salt) but I think she (the lady in the original video) would look better with auburn hair.
Personally I love this makeup look on you. An excellent way to add a typically girly colour like pink into a goth outfit. Might try recreating it at some point....

The girl looked relatively okay aside from the awful cheap wig. On the other hand, the guy's makeup was.... an experience to see, to say the least.
As someone more from the metal scene looking into the goth scene, the guy looks more Black Metal with the grim corpse paint style and dyed black hair than goth. Am I wrong?

(Honestly I think it limits us to say everyone has to like x style of music. Fashion sense and music taste are two different things.)
Hey! As a person of colour (half Puerto Rican and half Jamaican) I always wondered how I'd pull off a goth look. I don't know if you have any friends that are people of colour but if you do, I'd love you to give them a goth makeover. I love you so so so much! Congrats on being married ❤
I'm Colored and I'm goth. it's the same for us except we don't really have to make our skin pale. it just looks cool.
POC here too. The only difference with darker skin is that you can't really wear the paper white foundation. But if you want to look paler, just do your base a few shades lighter. The colored goths I see usually just keep their skin the same color. Also there are many tumblr pages dedicated to dark-skinned goths! Or you can just google it.
I think Goths of colour are beautiful - I've seen a few on Pinterest (sadly there aren't many) and holy shit, it just looks so amazing :)
I'm thinking a foundation a tad lighter than your skintone and in more ashy rather than gold tones (as light and as ashy as you can pull it off). As for everything else, it's pretty much the same:3

As someone who watches the Facts. channel regularly, I just wanted to share that the guy's name is not Paul, but Fionn! So when he had that bit introducing himself as Paul and pretending to do a dating site introduction I took it as connected to his comment that he felt like a different person in that style of makeup, and not a hit at the gothic style at all... That was how I interpreted his comments, anyway.

It's how it is, its people who want to learn about "goth" but only have what they know to go off of. They should give them a bit of help. Though everyone's" gothic persona" is different, and that's ok. :)
I said the same thing on the facts vid I believe.
Because those are the only "Goth" (not exactly as the Joker isn't goth or gothic) characters people know. Most people have no bloody idea how actual goth make up works or even looks like, so they use something they know as a template.
As much as the crow (both movie and comic) are iconic, they surely put a curse on the image of the subculture. The figure's huge mainstream success has planted the idea that every goth looks like a horror clown into peoples' heads.
Well, being one of the cultures that hates being "mainstream", that would have happened with any design template they used for the movie. If they'd used another one, the "crow" look would still be acceptable today.
Right after that guy gotten his make-up done, he remained me of Marilyn Manson. In the early, mid, and late 90's. Man how I wish I grew up in the 90's and early 2000's. It seemed like everything was perfect back in those days. Except for 9\11.

I'm from Dublin and I normally LOVE Facts videos. However this one I was abit .. indifferent towards! The makeup they did on the guy was SOOOO BAD! Its like your woman who did the makeup just thought "...I've seen The Crow once. Thats goth right?" I enjoyed how open the 2 people who were being made over were to the experience :)

Glad you reacted to this one! I love Facts., and I was interested to hear what you thought. As for the jokey personal ad at the end of the video, I think it's important to remember that most of the Facts. contributors are comedians. They joke about everything.
I really love you attidude towards "being yourself despite how people feel about it" :) I'm no goth, but somewhat very different but try to express myself with and feel best when I'm dressing (and wearing quite obvious makeup :p) a certain way ^^ So love to watch your vids, they are so positive and selfloving :D
