I went here, at the Norman Parathyroid Center,in Tampa, FL, for my Surgery! They were So Amazing!!! In less than 20 minutes, they removed a nodual from my Thyroid and biopsied all four parathyroids and removed one that was active. I live in CA and during a visit to Tampa, I remembered seeing the Norman Parathyroid Center in the distance, from riding in a car. When my doctor first told me, I would be needing thyroid surgery, I researched the Norman Parathyroid Center. Found out it would end up costing the same if I had the surgery at my local CA hospital. So I called The Norman Parathyroid Center and set up a surgery date! I wanted Experts to do my surgery! It was So Worth it!!
Even with our plane tickets, Hotel, Food costs, it came out to cost the same. No need to rent a car, either. The Hotel includes your Charter Bus to and from the Hospital and back to the Airport! The Best Set up Ever! So thankful I chose to go there!!! ❤

I've been dealing with depression since my early 20's, started breaking bones late 20's, dx with osteoporosis with 30. Hospitalized with Congestive heart failure at 34, upon admission i had a near fatal low potassium level of 2.7 was dx as having chronic venous insufficiency and hypokalemia. I'm now 43 and after suffering a spontaneous vertebral fx void of trauma 6 months was put on a high dose of Vitamin D2. And after a second Vitamin d 25 hydroxy serum came back low was dx as deficient. Also 4 years ago i developed hypopigmentation on both sides of my face and neck and a bony lesion on my clavicle. And 3 days I passed a kidney stone the size of a quarter, in the process of passing another one and very painful this time and have yet to be dx bc the last time my PTH was tested it was within normal limits...i don't how much more I can take, Im forgetful, have bouts of dysphagia, and can feel my self getting worse by the day...

After more research and finding an article on hyperparathyroidism saying if you exhibit all symptoms and have uneven patchy skin areas...beware. I have pigmentation issues on my face and neck. Hyperaldosteronism with Secondary Hyperparathyroidism.

My first question would be how many of these surgeons are doing minimally invasive surgery? Secondly - where is the reiteration of reading lab results that it should be noted that the lab ranges include children so adults should have >10 calcium level as a normal range. I am glad that she noted that if your PTH is elevated even though in normal range the PTH should be

I had and still have low vitamin D for several years. Any time I try to raise my vitamin D 30>, I get crazy diarrhea, nausea, fatigue, weakness, trouble breathing and muscle spasms and insane dehydration at 800-1000 IU. I have normal calcium, and I doubt that would be the case if I somehow managed to get vitamin D over 30>. I’d have to be suicidal to attempt it. I feel the symptoms of low vitamin D all day every day. My doctors response to testing for hyperparathyroidism is you have normal calcium, therefore no problem. I have Type 2 diabetes, obesity and hypertension.

If your PTHis high, you should ask about normocalcemic hyperparathyroidism. I have the same symtoms, especially nausea, and high PTH. Vitamin D is low but whenever I try to increase it the nausea gets out of control.
I'm currently increasing my calcium intake after years off dairy, but can't take the vit D my doctor prescribed, I can't even get some sunlight without persistent vomiting.

@@delriver77 You should try 400-600 units of vitamin D. There’s a small chance you have a gene defect that makes you hypersensitive to vitamin D supplements. I can take 600 units, but no more or else I get terrible nausea among other symptoms. I can’t take 600 units if I got outside in the sun, I have to take 400 on days I go outside. I will look into that new variant of hyperparathyroidism. Thank you!

Please find a Parathyroid specialist before this problem advances! I am on the same journey. There are great support groups on Facebook that will provide information.
