He doesn't die in the manga. I recommend checking it out. The medusa virus is explained better and is honestly a lot cooler in the books
I like how this anime has the most random ass scenes that are in full 3D. They could be walking up the stairs in 2D in one shot, and suddenly theyre 3d doing the exact same motion, like why lol?

This movie's Medusa Syndrome is the impression thing I've ever seen, a disease that turns you into a stone statue.
The crazy part is that a similar epidemic exists in history. Afflicted victims suffer from slow paralysis the take over the body until they can't move anymore. They don't become plaster per se, but they become trapped in their bodies. Still living, but immobile. They die a very slow death. And as quickly as this mysterious bacteria/virus hit, it suddenly disappeared. We still don't know the cause.
Makes our Covid-19 pandemic look mild-ish in comparison.
