I have the sr 80 pro and I have had no problems I run it off 2 2s 5200mah lipo batteries. I would love to see you guys revisit the sr 80 but I understand if you don’t I probably wouldn’t if I was in your position but mine has worked great for about a year since in got it

I know you both are bummed about the video but this is why we blue collar consumers love this channel so freaking much! I say operator error. When you swapped the esc from the SR80 PRO you didn't check the motor rotation and you just put it in the water. Then when you pulled full trigger (to go forward) the motor was spinning in the wrong direction and all you had was reverse even though you were pulling the trigger to go forward. If you tried to reverse the throttle channel on the controller to reverse the throttle you still wouldn't have any throttle control because that esc has no reverse function. All you should have to do is swap one of the motor wires then you are good to go. BTW the SR80 (non pro version) is the best boat period under $175.00.
you are right. they really mean it. they did that on purpose.. they never gave any chance. thats why i said to him. its not reliable review right from the start..

I never tried using the stock receiver. I use a Dumbo rc controller. I like the SR80 Pro.
EX Hobby (Volantex) are you watching?! My SR80pro came with a small crack in the top of the hull near the hatch. My SR65 is fine though.
You have to switch two wires on the motor. And it will run in the right direction.

My Vector sr80 pro came completely ready to run.
I use sealing tape on all my boats, it's a must.
The black paint on the sr80 cabin comes off when you remove the tape and I lost a whole flex drive.
I managed to find replacement drive and propulsion gear, so I bought 3 sets.
Take the flex drive out of the motor clamp and open up the slots with either a dremmel or hacksaw.
I have had no other issues since and find it turns heads..

I have the volantex sr 80 pro and I’ve had no issues it runs great and I’ve had no range issues and I have driven it over 100 yards away. Running 2 2s 5200mah batteries I got 47.8 mph out of it. It’s a shame yours came messed up hopefully you guys revisit this later on, love the videos keep up the great work !
Ordered my SR80 PRO in March, while I didn't have to drill my rudder... the motor did run backwards. If you take any 2 of the 3 motor wires of a 3 phase sensor less motor of which this is, it will go the other way 1 probablem solved, it really is a great boat 🚢 just needs better quality control! Going to be very disappointing for alot of people without some fixes. Hope this helps

Not receiver issiue, Esc not calibrated corectly. Also if the cover is cracked, both covers on green and yellow are identical and can be swapped

The way nathan felt about the boats is how i felt yesterday when i went to go crawling and i lost half a drive shaft, just irritated at it
Looks like you guys got some lemons because my sr80 pro is great, and taking massive beatings. Im running it on 6s with a few mods. Hatch tape is a must if you dont want it to fill up with water and always self right, i found that battery and esc placement is crucial for the self righting feature
Your correct first rule I was taught in my RC Boat club was no mater if it has a seal or not you always tape seal your boats. Love the channel. Test on the bank, or at least, near the bank while holding it to see which way the motor turns. He replaced all the electronics - he had no way of knowing what order he connected the motor leads, so no idea what direction it was going to turn lesson learned. But to keep the water out again PLEASE RC SAYLORS TAPE YOUR BOATS BEFORE YOU PUT IN THE WATER. Great video hope you continue to do boat weeks wife and I love boats and your show.

You always seem to have problems with volantexboats. I bought a volantax racent atomic and a volantex sr80. Both are awesome. They had no problem binding and the "problem" you had with the rudderhole, I did not have. Strange that your boat misses a hole and all other buyers on the net didn't. Biassed?? The boats are far less expensive then the proboats, that you always advise and other people never seem to have problems with binding or other problems. On volantex, first connect the battery, then within six seconds turn on the transmitter, like it says in the manual. Never had problems. And both the sr80 and the racent atomic are awesome boats. Fast, good electronics, easy to update.
how odd my sr80 pro was assembled (just about) all I had to do was check the prop?Is the prop on the green one backwards? as far as I am aware they dont have reverse ?
I would say even though the sr80 and pro are labelled ready to run , the standard version is defo MORE ready to run than the pro

1. Nothing wrong with the esc, just shift two cables on the motor and it'll go forward.
2. Are you sure it has reverse? It's a race boat, no need for reverse.

poor guys had really bad luck. wife has the Sr80 and it's a great boat. never had any problems at all. It's as good as our expensive boats. handles like a dream and runs about 45 mph. wife even crashed it few times. Looks like you got a very bad batch and just bad luck. It's a shame because you would love the SR80 pro.
So.. Change two of the cables around and try the green one again. Then put the receiver and ESC you took out of the green boat and put that in the orange boat. Take the rudder bracket to a local machine shop, or car repair shop and ask them nicely if they can help you drill the two missing holes. Put it together and run it.
The Vector SR80 pro is Awesome and fast trust me i own one !!!

Hey, Nate and Abby really appreciate all your videos and time. I have really learned a lot from watching. Really sorry to see how much trouble you have had with these boats. I have an SR80 pro and it has been flawless. I am using mine in salt water and I would describe it as very capable and reliable. I have only seen the sr85 on other video reviews and seems to perform well. The only big issue is the time needed for the self righting to function. One YTer solved it by drilling some extra holes to let the air out that gets trapped in the flood chamber at the nose of the boat. The result was self righting in half the time. As for your boat running in reverse it may have been simple case of the motor wires needing reversing by unplugging any two of the three bullet connectors and reconnecting swapped into each other's spot. Hope things get better, it is very frustrating when this stuff happens.

I have the volantex atomic boat. I had to plug the battery into the boat BEFORE turning on the radio. When i tried turning on the radio first. Boat went full throttle just like in this video.

maybe the wires were in the wrong locations.

Thanks for sharing the the bad with the good. Keeps it real. Swapping two motor leads should reverse the motor since I doubt it's sensored, but who wants to fight to make junk sort of work when there are better options?

The ft11 is the only boat I have and its so good I doubt I'll need another.
That's a great boat. I chrome painted my 'windshield' looks great! Does seem to have a short battery time though.
My ft11 has been converted to s4 power, to say it's fast is an understatement....
WOW.... That was painful to watch. Just switch any 2 motor wires and the motor will run the other direction.
But it still wouldn't run in the other direction. But I guess you should check the prop direction before you throw the boat in the water.

Well I bought one of those green boats the Self anti-roll didn't work at all sank it half way down so I took some old quartz from wine bottles and place them in the holes in the back of the boat epoxy them in and it runs just fine no issues getting speeds of 48-51mph on 4s did a little mod work to it nm just small stuff and now it is my rescue boat for my pro boat veles 29 happy I got one that works for $220 I happy with it
I thought so as well . . When I first looked at the boat and seen those two holes at the bottom of the boat I said to myself how the hell is this boat going to stay afloat with the holes at the bottom of it when water is going to get in in sink the boat ? I didnt understand how that was work . .

I bought the volantex ranger 400 and mine came with kamikaze mode enabled. It was the strangest plane ever. I installed landing gear on it so it would take off from the ground then hold flight for 5 seconds then that mode kicks in and it would slam into the ground... volantex engineers have to learn from xk and Wltoys...

Some boats need to have water proof tape such as hocky tape applied to rhe cabin where it meets the hull. I do this with a few boats i have and it works great, happy sailing , john j

Could you please re review the Volantex SR85. Reason being, most RUclipsrs who reviewed the SR80 Pro have it a thumbs up as a great boat.
I feel my Volantex SR65 has had no issues whatsoever for its price and that has good reviews on RUclips aswell.
I just feel because my mum has bought me the SR85 Catamaran as a gift for me. Not many other RUclipsrs have reviewed it.
There are reviews though and none mentioned any issues as bad as what you experienced with the two boats.
I feel I will really need to double check on some first prep and maintenance procedures from Nik Johnston's CML Distribution video of the boat.
Anyway lots of reviews of the SR65 and SR80 and SR80 Pro from lots of RUclipsrs so Volantex must be doing a good job now with most of their bigger boats.
I feel your review as bad experience might have put a black mark on not many people splashing out for one and was kind of hoping you might re review it and give the company and the boat the benefit of the doubt. Please.

SR80 pro is an awesome boat for the money. Did you give the company a chance to make it right? I have seen lots of people have problems with the UDI also…. Don’t think this was useful or representative of what these boats have to offer. I have an SR80 pro. It’s a great boat. No drilling required. I did have to attach the rudder using the included Allen wrench. But then it worked perfectly out of the box. All boats require some maintenance. For example you should grease your flex shaft after every session… Don’t think you needed to trash these boats. First review I’ve seen on your channel that made me think your reviews are biased…

Take a youtube search on other reviews, or google it's rating by other users.It's one of the most sold RTR boat here in Europe! just look at CAPTAIN DRONES youtube review about it.Maybe you change your mind.I have searched for bad reviews, but the only one i can find is this one.It has good reviews on Amazon,BG,Aliexpress,rcgroups and youtube.When you try a new rc model, you should always check that all things works before you start using it.A hobby shop in Norway sells it with 90a ESC and run it on 6s.speed is over 60mph 😊
This is just our experience with this boat. Not saying others are wrong, but we are going to stay honest and true as with everything on our channel. It’s funny sort of: if it seems like we are only saying good things about a product, people get mad and say we are “sell outs” and just pushing a product for a company. When we show an experience like this, people still get upset!
It looks like you got your volantex boats from another boat manufacturer who messed with them, before sending them to you. All over the world people love the racent atomic and vector sr80 and 85. Looks not to be an honest review to me. 7:36 7:36

Well I had a lot of fun with mine had the same exact boat ran perfect out-of-the-box that was a couple years ago a lot of fun with it though never any hiccups if you don't have good luck with that brand seems like you had another video with the atomic 3 and the actual plastic on one of the sponsors was completely cracked through
