Wild Floridian another thing my dad taught me...... when we build our rows we use the existing soil by digging a trench a shovel depth and pile it on the rows to make the raised beds. Now you have this trench for walking space AND if you fill this with organic matter (I only do grass clippings and leaves cause I’m walking in it) leave it alone and let the cold composting take place and about twice a year you have compost during the fall and spring change outs.
      Love your channel!

I keep a five gallon bucket on my back deck with lid. I fill it up and when it's full, I dig a few holes in the garden and bury it. I let the earth do the work.

Currently I am trying this; tree service dropped a couple loads of mulch in my yard (Free), I fill 5 gallon bucket of food scraps, dig a hole into the mulch dump scraps, some red wigglers (37$ amazon), cover and wet the pile. I hope they will do the work for me. We'll see; is an experiment. I have enough space 2.5 acres central FL.

I just started replacing many ornamentals with food crops in my backyard. I had a LOT of huge crinum lily leaves that I've used to start my compost pile as the majority of my greens. So, now I read that crinum lilies are poisonous!! Have a ruined my compost? I'm attempting to build a hot pile and have it up to 128F right now. Thanks for your help!

What do you do with the maggots when its time to use the compost? Sift them out? Leave them in the dirt?

My first batch of compost is almost ready in my tumbler. My veggies are growing in my beds so when I’m ready to sprea the compost should I put it on top of the mulch that’s there and then remolcó over the compost or do I have to wait until the veggie plants die to add the compost?

Respectfully, I just read one can compost dog poo. It's sounds gross to me, but I have two dogs and have been curbing them from my gardens. Do you recommend it?

I have thrown dog poo into my compost bin. You need to let it break down longer. I would not place it directly in the garden bed.

I have more greens than browns in my compost. It is probably half coffee and eggshells. The rest is fruit & veggie scraps and some paper. It doesn't stink but ants get into it. My bin is open on the bottom. We have a 1/3 acres total including the house is on that so a small yard. I am interested in the lazy composting. I only really turn what is in my bin once a week on the weekends and I know it isn't the best method.

Something is better than nothing 😉 I let maggots get into mine and they do a great job breaking the compost down... vermicomposting! I hope you enjoy lazy composting 😄

If you turn your compost pile every 3-5 days it will 1)stay aerobic 2)not stink, even if you have a ton of green 3)actually compost down in about 6 weeks........ but every 3 days or so, is a lot
