Honestly hope that this will be part of the game for the "new years" update, or at spring... would love to research subs, and the gameplay on this mode, isn't bad at all
Yeah, they just need to improve the game mechanics and controlling of submarines a bit more
Weird thing is though, of you go to the vehicle card for the sub, it has as research amount(26,000 rp)

Some tips for submarine players
depth charges explode around 20 to 30 on the depth gauge, which means that diving or getting far enough away is the only way to avoid them.
use the water as cover as it deflects most shells from doing any actual damage, aside from destroying the AA guns which can be repaired.
diving to 58 and turning off your engine will “usually” keep the destroyers from being able to see you, 55 is about the deepest you can go before you start taking damage. And there really isnt any need to go deeper than that because depth charges will usually explode before they are close enough to hit you.
As far as i can tell you cannot destroy mines so a really good way to utilize them is to drop them in front of the convoy and let them run into them, otherwise do what malzi did and wait for them to run over you then create a wall of mines for them to hit.
You can reach a higher max speed at depth 3 to 0, so staying partially out of the water means you will move faster.

you can go to a depth of 4 while still keeping the top speed
@@grindstone4910 ive had it happen to me too, usually when im in the middle of diving , the back of the sub usually sticks straight up until you reach you target depth and quit diving so it makes it easier to be hit.

The same thing happened with helicopters. They made an event like this and released helicopters a year later. I guess this means subsmarines are official

as it is, it’s incredibly unbalanced in favor of the surface fleet. the subs can’t hide effectively at all, and the time feels too short

I like the more serious music in this video. Naval warfare, and especially submarine warfare, is terrifying.
Just download Silent Hunter instead - this kind of crappy sub implementation misses the whole craftyness of submarine warfare

Hey Malzi, you should probably try and fire a spread of 3 torpedoes and dive to avoid detection just like WW2, i wreck convoys with that tactic but i also run out of torpedoes fast so it is your decision if you want to employ it. All in all this is a pretty entertaining video. Loving it!
they should keep this and make it a standard game mode with like tech tree's for german,US,japan,...

Nah I think it's fine, subs would be way too easy to kill otherwise. I've played sub side and surface side and killing the other team is quite a challenge on both sides as it stands right now, though definitely a little bit swayed towards the destroyers. I have an easier time sinking subs in destroyers than destroyers in subs.
I cannot imagine how terrifying it must have been to serve on the uboats. The casualty rates and method of death were horrendous. I’d keep a sidearm with me to avoid drowning in the dark, people clawing at each other. God bless those who served and perished.

Recommendation on using a sub, when you spawn in, go to periscope depth, then go back up to 4 (go back and forth until you hit 4), it will only make a little bit of you visible but be able to sail at full speed, 44km/h, also making it easier to maneuver, dodging ships and making it easier hitting them with torps etc.
So Gaijin witnessed Wargaming's "massive success" with subs and wanted their piece of the pie?
I think players wanted submarines but on another hand almost nobody plays navy so it is confusing but hey i remember when they said that they would not add carriers because there was nothing more boring than being a mobile airfield for players and now they want to add them too.
They were planned to add subs for a long time but they didnt know how, there was testing of modern subs before

Wowsers that’s incredibly dismissive. Yeah a mobile airfield and a massive bomb and torpedo target. I’d wager whoever said that has never experienced the dramatic highs and lows of dodging torpedos or hell even watched the movie midway one of my favorite scenes in that movie is watching the massive carriers dodging bombs from strategic bombers by less than twenty feet.
Subs suck in WoWs this is a very good event mode and they would work really well in regular naval (although naval in war thunder is a gimmick)
If they added a naval warfare rolling campaign sandbox mode at xyz tier this week these sub mechanics would be excellent with more detail, but that is the downfall of war thunder is that they have been promising world war modes for years and still have not delivered. They are developing these mechanics painfully slow when they really need to be finishing all this stuff up and taking our investment and returning a persistent campaign mode we can spawn into with our loadouts and attack AI objectives exactly like this mode then return to resupply nearby and not have to leave to pay repair costs yet and such..
At least the sub shown in the video actually dies to depth charges and can be spotted from beyond breath smelling distance.
The music playing from around 1:00 sounds like the Total War: Warhammer Skaven soundtrack maybe a little altered? Anyway it's an interesting pick considering Skaven are the only race that uses submarines in Warhammer fantasy.

If you dive to 57m, you should be theoretically safe from depth charges, but still above the danger depth.
I liked the concept enjoyed a view rounds before getting the same bug multiple times in a row, that prevented me of adjusting my hight and from swimming up to the surface.

I love to hear people say diving deflects shells. Boi that SAP shell still goes through the water. I blew up a sub with my 6 guns. Just stop going into enemy territory. They will surround and trap you like I've done with plenty of subs.

Looks like Gaijin has beat WarGaming in yet another category... The subs actually move like real subs, not like underwater rockets!
If the submarine mode permanent there will be type VII class, Balao class,type K class, and USS tang class sub like In the WT mobile

Subs should be able to go much deeper and you should have to set the detonation depth of the charges. Now they conveniently always go off next to the sub.
Nah depth charges detonate at a random depth between 20-30m. You can evade them by diving to 40-59m.

Do somebody know why i cant drop torpedoes in planes ? I am below 50m not at too high speed and when i press the bomb button it does nothing (im playing on keybord)

I'm really enjoying this game mode. Don't know if the destroyer players need any tips, but when you see a sub, try to approach from 90 degrees or some other angle. This'll keep them from shooting "down the throat" at you, and will lessen the risk of revenge-mining (see vid). Also, if you are in the PBY and you are NOT blasting the "Black Cats" music from Call of Duty World at War *you*. *are*. *doing*. *it*. *wrong*.
