    I put some Tenacity down per the instructions and it seems to be working. After about 4-5 days the crabgrass is turning white...which is a very satisfying feeling - the clover is slower to change, but it's getting there. Based on your recommendation I am going to put another application down in a couple of weeks since I can already see some spots I missed. In some areas it's like 90% crabgrass. Should I rake the crabgrass out once it's dead then seed, or just seed over the dead crabgrass? I am thinking it would be better to get the crabgrass out - at least in the heavy areas, and then over seed. Yes?

    • @YardBrah

      Oh nice glad it’s working it’s the best! I would def get rid of the crabgrass rake or power rake or even use a plugger then resoil… I always tenacity the same time I overseed so if you overseed def get an application in again at least 4-6 weeks apart from when you did it last! 😊🙌🏾🙏🏾🤙🏾

    I'm doing a late spring, early summer application, and it seems to be doing the job. After barely a week, the front of my lawn is turning bright white. Most of the front is crabgrass, so that makes sense.
    I'm in the California Sacramento Valley and it's now a cooler than expected June. Hoping it stays in the mid to upper 80s so I can do another treatment of tenacity before really going to town and seeding more tall fescue.
    Question I have is, should I just give up on seeding for the rest of the summer? I'm doing tall fescue, which is a spring seed. The lawn was flourishing at the beginning of spring, and I applied tenacity early on, but I didn't do it right, as I watered too soon, and I didn't see any crab grass die.
    After one weekend late May of 95° heat, the lawn retreated, and the crab grass took over.😢
    I feel like I should just kill as much crab grass as possible, let the tenacity do it's job, then mow high enough, and water and fert like crazy to give the existing tall fescue a chance to stay alive until fall.
    My theory is that it'll revive in the winter, and I could also do another tenacity treatment early fall to keep weeds at bay. Then care for the lawn over the warm winter as best I can.
    Sorry so long here, but what are your thoughts?

    • @YardBrah
      @YardBrah  Год назад +3

      Yeah you guys get way too hot but if the soil temps are good I would overseed if you can keep up with the watering. It’s a hard call cause this is when grass doesn’t thrive so either you wait or make it thrive 😂👊🏾🤙🏾🙏🏾

If you use the surfactant your chances of bleaching are higher because it sticks to the leaves. Right now you want it in the soil. It’s the same stuff in a weed and feed fertilizer that has granules. They dissolve into the soil.

      you can overseed the same time as tenacity application... but if you already did two applications you have to wait 4-6 weeks before you can overseed to see germination I did this last year when I killed the poa annua... i tried to overseed after application and it would not take until I think the 5th week I reseeded and finally saw some germination! 😊🙏🏾🤙🏾

    (?) I noticed that you said "you do this process every year"! I assume that means that this product really isn't any better or different than using most popular hose chemical weed sprayers such as ( Spectracide & Weed Stop) from the big box stores ,were they claim to kill weeds to the roots & not harm your lawn. With protection for up to 6 to 8 months or usually till the end of season ,or till the beginning of next season were it all returns again & possibly with new/ different types of weeds along with it! So technically it's not literally actually killing anything rather than only temporarily suppressing them, or chemically induced forced dormancy! & that's my experience & my overall issue & why I stopped using that style/type of herbicide we're it's not really a solution at all, rather than a commercialized rip-off were they came up with a patented Formula that makes sure you return as a loyal customer each year! (That's not the only option.) Try using a yard renovation concentrated Formula that actually kills everything both lawn & weeds to make sure your actually killing to roots permanently, & spray late winter or pre spring when only weeds or active, just before the actual lawn returns from dormancy and that my friend is a solution were it really kills only what's actively growing! they will not return and it's serves more as a yard renovation, making noticable progress each year with less appearing weeds to deal with each ears. (Note) if you do see more weed patches after the grass returns, kill it all and patch by over seeding with new grass seeds for a more permanent application!
