As long as I've had my ST, I've been told never to run a Cobb OTS tune! They blow up motors, according to lots of folks in my local group. I'd recommend looking into a JST or Stratified tune really soon!
Hey man we running cobb stage 1 ots map with with cobb filter next will run front mount intercooler and stage 2 ots the add downpipe and run stage 3 ots. Will that be fine then after get stratified map or something?
@@kemsleygobey2357 I think it's better to have a relationship with the tuner while you build. So if you're planning on doing all that, I'd start right after the s1 ots map and filter. The more data the tuner has the better.
Nice job on the video. I have a Greddy exhaust on my ST and it had a nice deep tone. Once I installed the catless DP it totally came alive and was plenty loud. Guess it's been a close to two years and the sound still makes me smile.
When you asked for suggestions on breaking away rust, Kano Kroil. Comes in a bright orange can. It’s like pb blaster on crack. I work on outdoor rusty elevators and escalators and you can free up the most seized bolts imaginable with a few squirts of that stuff. Highly recommend
I had a 16 Focus ST. CFM Catless DP and Borla cat back, plenty of volume and great sound. Screamed at higher RPMs and a nice deep tone at idle. Also had an e30 tune.
I just installed the AWE track edition with the stock downpipe and it is really deep, throaty, and LOUD. I know you bought the car with the MBRP already on it but you should really look into AWE exhaust systems, its legit.
I'm currently modding/driving a Focus SE and plan to get myself an ST next summer. So far the SE has been fun to build, but I also want to get myself an ST since it's a just as fun platform to work off of. Just found your videos and so far, they have been a lot of fun and informative to watch. Thanks for posting them. Also, just subscribed. Hoping to learn a bit more. Edit: Had to go back and add to this. Posted while trying to get ready for work and made the post look all broken and caveman like. LOL
I can help with the rattling problem right now because I had the same problem. The heat shielding is loose on the bottom of the car. I had to loosen mine and re tighten / align them because ford had to loosen some bolts to inspect the fuel tank for the recall and didn't put it back correctly 🙄. Threw that boy on ramps in the middle of the night because the sound drove me crazy on the highway. Hope this helps!
i was driving in gilbert and got lost but passed down a road that looked familiar but i’ve never been there before then i saw his house so that was cool😂
DO A RESONATOR DELETE FIRST!!! Then see how you like it. I did it and its perfectly fine for throatiness when pushing but good for highway driving without too much drone
I have that same exhaust with a 3 inch catless dp on my st. Im waiting for the video to hear how it sounds with that big resonator deleted. Great content man.
When you go catless with straight pipe exhaust be ready for CRAZY rasp at 3k...it sounds awful but I still have mine setup like that because turbo whistle and crackles mean EVERYTHING!!!
Be careful when buying downpipes. A lot of them don't use the best metallurgy. Secondly, most downpipes are not Argon Gas back purged to ensure a strong and long lasting downpipe. I say this because quality comes at a higher price tag. IMPO Daniel Check @ TB Performance Products offers the highest quality downpipe money can buy. 304 stainless steel and TIG welded.
Does anybody know why the AFR bounces around like crazy after installing a catless dp? Are the readings wrong because the o2 sensors are f*cked or is it actually serious? I saw his go up to 41
Anyone know what that brace is called that he is removing? At 7:33. Mine is super rusted. Just thinking about replacing (if it's not worth it then I won't)
The CFM DP for the Mustang ecoboost is much easier to install, there was nothing in the way, so it came out fairly easy. I'm taking it off for the winter tho. Deep creep over PB blaster IMO
Cameron did you ever take your muffler off or get one out on? I put a depo racing catless downpipe on my ST with a AWE track exhaust and it's horrendous when WOT especially in 2nd gear. I'm debating on just selling the downpipe and getting a catted one or getting a muffler for it. Please help lol
For each one of these mods, you should list your mod list in the description. Which RMM did you have here? I had the CNT Racing 2.5" V2 catback for a while..last year i dropped in the CNT Racing cat-less downpipe (same day i did my CPE lightweight FMIC) and together they sound amazing..resonator/muffler included. I have yet to hear an exhaust on a FoST that sounds similar to mine and i get decent crackles on decel. Currently running the OTS Cobb Stage 3 (93 octane) tune. Its tough deciding on which custom tuner to go with though, JST, Stratified, Pwnall, etc.. Also, did you run a de-fouler? I was told i'd throw codes without one. I couldnt get the one I bought to work, so ran it without..had zero codes or issues since last August (2019). Car still sounds amazing. My only issue was I got vibrations/rattles likea metal on metal rubbing when in high gear at low speeds and i accelerate. But im stock RMM..which will change soon.
I just removed my totally clogged cats on my exhaust. I got the car at 135k and im at 153k now and probably wouldnt have ruined my stock cats had I not egr delete, and other things that put stress on it and then driving on a blinking engine light for way too long like 1000+ and after maf sensor cleaning and new intake and all that I finally figured out what's making everything dirty up front is the fact that the cat was clogged with oil or whatever at least I hope that's the case my car won't rev over 2.5k now and before this symptom it was just blinking engine light and the car running really ruff mostly and with the problem getting better sometimes when I can rev on the highway and like blow the exhaust clear enough to get more air through making the car sing for a bit and so I know it can run smoothly but just not at idle and I'm hoping the eBay test pipe I got will fix it and I'm installing it on the speed3 now so I will update tomorrow
someone please help i have a 2018 ford focus sedan with a 2.0 duratec and was woundering if the 3in downpipe would be compatible with mine if not can someone please send a link
I definitely don't recommend the cobb ots stage 1 map. I ran it on my st for about 10k (I know I should have gotten a pro tune just wanted to go stage 2 first) and number 4 piston blew apart. Just be careful man. Ford wont cover it so I'll be building it myself.
@@interceptingfist5682 yeah unfortunately I didnt think that it would cause damage being that it was just a stage 1 map and I watched my afr like a hawk and never had it lean out. Oh well I'll be paying the consequences
at 11:34 why do you use an extension on the wrench when tightening it? When using extensions you lose torque and it doesn't seem useful to work with...
I’m almost getting like a “grinding” feeling in my clutch after the downpipe install. I only feel it in first gear when at low rpms. I don’t feel it every time though? Any thoughts?
Getting a tune to essentially delete the emissions code that comes up when you do catless downpipes from your ecu so you can pass emissions unless you have to do smog then you kinda screwed
Catts do not, as many say or think, hold much power back at all. Maybe 1-2 hp and a DP adds 4-6 hp. A full turbo back cattless system will add 8-12 hp. Full system turbo back and Catted 1-2 hp less. No need to throw a aftermarket CAI on it either. Not unless you plan on 400 crank hp/355 whp.
I remember doing this on my ST. i managed to break my C clamp and then desperately drove around my city while straight piped searching for a new one
Started my RUclips because of you man. Thanks for inspiring me. Building my WRX and posting everything. Great content dude thanks

If anything get a high flow catted downpipe. However most will cost more than a catless one.
How's that drone treating you
Intercepting Fist Completely liveable, the resonator helps without restricting the volume too much.
Agree with the AWE. Installing a depo catless Sunday
