@@walkaboutwithrob I wouldn't worry about the "historical inaccuracies" Rob. Pretty hard to hear 'em over the overdone background Musak! 😉 Do enjoy the added historical photos and maps as usual though. 😊
@@theoztreecrasher2647 I was wondering whether it was just my audio. Volume of the background music plus just a tad too loud so it made trying to follow the dialogue a bit difficult for me.
We moved to Beenleigh in 1976. It was a town strong on agriculture with a rich German (Prussian) settlement history. My friends owned farmland on Albert Street and in the 1970’s still had sn old house and outbuildings. Precious.
Thank you for this - I have just discovered your videos and think they are great! My grandmother was born & grew up in Syria St Beenleigh, her parents both arrived from England in the mid 1870s and settled in Beenleigh, my great grandmother was a school teacher at one of the early schools. So I found this video very interesting and I think you have another on Beenleigh which I will also check out. I love the history of our SEQld areas. Would you do one on The Gap as its quite an interesting place too and where I grew up.
@ahhigiveup Many thanks indeed! Yes, I am very keen to explore The Gap area and make a video. I know nothing about it but I'm sure there's some interesting stories to be uncovered.
I've lived in Beenleigh for 20 plus years and I ran Keatdo martial arts centre in the the old Uniting Church on Corner George St &, Alamein St, Beenleigh I'll be the last business to use the old church before it's torn down We used the church for 12 years so in a way my students and I are apart of Beenleigh history We will miss our second home
I'm strangely starting to feel quite emotionally attached to Beenleigh thanks to your videos. Maybe a visit and a walkabout needs to happen
It's a great town. Easy to get around too

@Brad Griffin thanks mate. I just want to make sure I get it right. Personally I cannot stand historical inaccuracies.

Fascinating as always. Love to see a well researched piece about the dev’t of local areas.
As a Beenleigh local for nearly a decade, its cool to see just where the town came from.

Has your family shared their local story with the Beenleigh Historical Village and Museum Library local stories project?
I thought I'd seen all your videos but I guess not...another interesting one on Beenleigh 😊
@shelleigh5993 thank ya ma'am. I think I've covered just about every aspect of Beenleigh's history now!
@@walkaboutwithrob I think you may be right 😁
Very good video ive got a mate who lives on distillery road and ive always wanted to know more about the area
There’s a beautiful old restored house called ‘Red Wolf’ on Tansey st that must have a fascinating history. It stands out and locals will know it.

Hello Rob, have you found any evidence of John Davy or Francis Gooding connection to Beenleigh Manor Farm in Devon?
@@denisewatson1122 Not as yet no. I did have a biography of them written somewhere and I’m trying to dig it up.
I hope Robert also warned them of the Crossroads...
Michael Tansey left Beenleigh for Kilkivan , and unfortunately drowned in the Brisbane River in 1911 aged 79
Did you see how thick that tree trunk was. I would love to see a beauty like that still up tall! It looked over 2meters in diameter!!!
Which tree were you looking at?
@@walkaboutwithrob 39 seconds in is a black and white photo. Thought it was an impressive size trunk. 👍
@@monicakristy4590 Ah yes. Could be either hoop or maybe red cedar.
Hey mate I found a coin/ token eroding out of garden bed opposite the super cheap auto! Probably nothing but how can I send you a photo
