THIS IS WHAT ASMR SHOULD ALWAYS BE! innovation, experimentation, this is what we all want to watch! Youre great at this because you LIKE asmr, you enjoy it like the art it once was before the algorithm screwed it over. Youre an actual ASMR artist!
0:41 this might be the best anticipation-release-trigger that I ever heard, that rise with that unique tapping at the end - kinda reminded me of the Coconut Rain trigger but with a better build up
Seriously I could watch a whole video just with that trigger. It has so much potential! You could slow down, speed up or reverse the rise, add little tappings in it, delay the release etc etc. And it probably is pretty hard to recreate as well. You not only need a drum just for being able to do it at all but also the recording setup probably has to be pretty similar to yours to generate a comparable sound. This is literally a gold mine!
0:41 deserves its own video. it was an amazing sound. the slow build up and the amazing tapping at the end. also if you try this again maybe try and snag a sharpie and gently tap the bottom of it on the drum. idk just my thoughts. thanks
11:09 The drum being different pitches at different spots could be the head being tighter in some places on different lugs. If you notice the pitch changing around the lugs it could need tuning/equalizing, I am no percussionist though! That being said the pitches being different was so nice for the asmr though 😅
Again, not a drummer but I was a keyboard percussionist in high school and had to tune a snare a few times. You are correct, and when tuning a head you should do the thing where you start on one and then do the one directly across. I assume a good drummer will repeat this process and find a pitch that sounds good, I just guesstimate and find out later.
Am percussionist, you're correct. There's also more tension near the edges than in the center of the drum head, so it will be higher pitched on the outside and lower the more you go towards the middle.
@@cookiecookies2870 for the Doppler effect to occur the source of sound must be moving relative to the "listener". Here the sound is stationary, so there is no said effect That's at least what I remember of it, I might as well be a dumbass and you are more than welcome to smite me for it
i was a drummer for 8+ years and always LOVED how that plastic sounded whenever i scratched it with my nails or stick. it was such a nice noise. i'm sure annoying to my band mates, but for me it was pure bliss
I love your thought processes and how you try to bring them to life The drum is intense but something about the frequency is just right to be relaxing and not overbearing, reminds me of rain Thank you for being you man
Вот это действительно необычный асмр контент . Сразу видно мужчина с душой относится к тому что делает и действительно думает над своими видео . В общем молодец,такое мне нравятся 👍🏻
the reason is the drum has screws, called lugs, around its sides that compress the two metal rims together. this is what adds tension to the drum head. think like a guitar, or stretching and plucking a rubber band higher tension = higher pitch lower tension = lower pitch something to explore would pressing a single finger in the center, playing around with how much pressure is on it, while tapping with the other hand on the rim. fantastic and amazing video top 10 all time
that being said, i believe that one thing that makes this sound so specially good is the positioning on the mic. the highest tuned lugnut is directly under the mic, with the lowest on the farther side. this gives a very very satisfying pseudo-echo effect that just reads as more organic than any edited delay, making it that much better.
youre so creative pat, its adorable how youre always doing experimental asmr with differents triggers and how much u put effort into this, keep the great work!
This is what I love about ur channel, ur always experimenting and I think that if we always do the same things over and over again we’re never gonna create tingles and that’s also why I think why people get tingle immune, if u always listen to the same concept over and over again u get used to it
To answer your lower and higher pitch question. At the far side the sound travels through more air and more of the inside section of the drum that amplifies the sound creating the lower pitch, while you’re closer to the mic the sound doesn’t have much to reverberate off of. (Great video by the way. New favorite trigger is drum)❤
Drummer here, not trying to be rude by correcting you but the drum head can be loosened or tightened with the lugs around the rim which change the pitch, its pretty much how drums are tuned
I have always loved these sounds. Having friends with drums or working in my church, I’d lightly tap the drum and feel the pads of by fingers grazing it. Wonderful sounds, so happy someone finally did this!!
I barely comment anymore tho I still watch pretty much all of your videos. But THIS!? Holy shit this is a masterpiece! I don't even know where to begin! Just absolute perfection from beginning to end! Never stop Pat! ❤
Haha Patrick, the drum sounds different pitches because each knob tightens a certain part of the drum, making it higher or lower pitch. One part can be looser, giving it a lower pitch, and another could be on tighter, giving it a higher pitch.
i think the pitch of the drum changes how tight the drum lether/ plastic is streched the corner parts are harder than the middle and there could just be diffrent stretching tentions on diffrent parts of the drum but i also think it has with the mic to do as you said so it would be good to try to rotate it to the opposite side to se if the same happens
You are my new favorite ASMR youtuber. Your videos feel so nice and personal, cozy and almost nostalgic. Im very glad I stumbled here through the vast internet landscape :)

I agree, Patrick was the first ASMRtist I ever watched and it's still one of the best for me (TOP3). Also, god, the drum asmr is a heaven mode!

Pedantic, but the screws are tension rods that screw into a metal housing, or lug, that is attached to the shell
Just in time for bed! :) The sound the little finger taps kind of reminds me a little bit of rain on a roof. It’s nice! Very tingly

To answer your lower and higher pitch question. (Great video by the way. New favorite trigger is drum)❤

The reason the drum has different pitches is because the tension rods or tuning screws on the drum are tighter on some spots than others. This pulls the drum head tighter and creates a different pitch
