THIS IS WHAT ASMR SHOULD ALWAYS BE! innovation, experimentation, this is what we all want to watch! Youre great at this because you LIKE asmr, you enjoy it like the art it once was before the algorithm screwed it over. Youre an actual ASMR artist!
0:41 this might be the best anticipation-release-trigger that I ever heard, that rise with that unique tapping at the end - kinda reminded me of the Coconut Rain trigger but with a better build up
Seriously I could watch a whole video just with that trigger. It has so much potential! You could slow down, speed up or reverse the rise, add little tappings in it, delay the release etc etc. And it probably is pretty hard to recreate as well. You not only need a drum just for being able to do it at all but also the recording setup probably has to be pretty similar to yours to generate a comparable sound. This is literally a gold mine!
11:09 The drum being different pitches at different spots could be the head being tighter in some places on different lugs. If you notice the pitch changing around the lugs it could need tuning/equalizing, I am no percussionist though! That being said the pitches being different was so nice for the asmr though 😅
Again, not a drummer but I was a keyboard percussionist in high school and had to tune a snare a few times. You are correct, and when tuning a head you should do the thing where you start on one and then do the one directly across. I assume a good drummer will repeat this process and find a pitch that sounds good, I just guesstimate and find out later.
I love your thought processes and how you try to bring them to life The drum is intense but something about the frequency is just right to be relaxing and not overbearing, reminds me of rain Thank you for being you man
Haha Patrick, the drum sounds different pitches because each knob tightens a certain part of the drum, making it higher or lower pitch. One part can be looser, giving it a lower pitch, and another could be on tighter, giving it a higher pitch.
You are my new favorite ASMR youtuber. Your videos feel so nice and personal, cozy and almost nostalgic. Im very glad I stumbled here through the vast internet landscape :)
youre so creative pat, its adorable how youre always doing experimental asmr with differents triggers and how much u put effort into this, keep the great work!
I’m less than a minute in and I just wanna say that it’s a really cool concept to see something we’re used to seeing be used in such a loud, intense, harsh, fast way and instead being really slow and gentle with it. 🥁❤ Also love you Pat hope you’re doing well.
Вот это действительно необычный асмр контент . Сразу видно мужчина с душой относится к тому что делает и действительно думает над своими видео . В общем молодец,такое мне нравятся 👍🏻
You may have found the answer already, but the drum has around 5 tuning pegs in a star shape, you’ll need a drum key (they’re cheap) and you can tune the drum (and whole kit) to certain notes, and ideally you want each of the 5 spots to ring the same note within roughly a quarter to half a semitone. Just tap or hit the section in front of the tuning pegs, and listen for the resonance to tune that section. There’s plenty of free drum tuning apps too. But I love the resonance sounds after taps or touches:) very innovative! What’s your favorite or go-to genre to play?
The next time you need to change your heads you should try leaving the top head off and putting your tascam inside. Do it with all of them, you’ll get a lot of different sounds just because of the different sizes of the toms. Snare wires might be interesting. Oooo and the sounds of the tension of the bottom head when you use a drum key to tighten and loosen the lugs. That would be fun.
Oh my gosh another idea! Get moon gels! Stick them on and take them off slowly. You can also play around with the resonance of the drum that way too. Stick, leave it, tap around, add another one or two. It will completely change the sound.
5:18 I think it's because of the Doppler effect. When you drag your fingies along toward the mic you're getting a little Doppler-y. When a source of sound is moving toward you, its velocity is added to the sound wave's velocity. So as it is coming toward you, the little air compressions that your ear & brain interpret as sound are hitting you at a higher frequency. When the sound source is moving away the sound waves emitted hit your ear at a lower frequency. Can anyone add to this explanation with some technical background on how the mic picks up sound or fun drum facts?
For some odd reason I read the title and clearly saw the word "drum" in it yet it still took me 3 minutes to realise it was a drum, I thought it was a round metal tray or something. I'm tired, and dense it seems. Love the sounds though.

Just in time for bed! :) The sound the little finger taps kind of reminds me a little bit of rain on a roof. It’s nice! Very tingly

Posting this video the day I start trying to learn how to be a little drummerboy? on my little drums? Astounding "coincidence"
“we love you Patrick!!!” we all say in unison
Parts of this, for some reason, reminds me of laying on a trampoline under the stars.
Thank you Patrick
I think if you added a t-shirt on the top it would add the perfect layer of sounds 👌🏼
DRUM SOLO 🥁
2:04 to 2:07 incredible
i like when you tap on the drumsticks

I think I explained this poorly but luckily we are already here on RUclips so anyone confused can just look up a fun educational video 😅
the head of a drum is tightened by lugs around rim. the tighter the lug, the higher the pitch on that side. the drum is just out of tune.
For some odd reason I read the title and clearly saw the word "drum" in it yet it still took me 3 minutes to realise it was a drum, I thought it was a round metal tray or something. I'm tired, and dense it seems. Love the sounds though.
This is awesome sauce
Bro, I never thought this will trigger me so much.
