To be fair, have you tried beating the original Fawful's Express on a 3DS? That fight is borderline impossible due to that stupid fire breath attack. ..I learned that the hard way. I had to find an old barely working DS just to get past that part.
@syweb2 I'm not exactly sure, but on a 3DS, 8 times out of 10, the flamethrower attack just won't register correctly. The DS' and 3DS' mics could probably be just too different. Because when I attempted the fight again on an old DS, I beat it the first try.
Number one question by parents when purchasing a game for thier 5-10 year old? Does this game have cursing? Oh silent hill? No, you’re good. Oh modern warfare 2? Nope, all good.
About the _Turtles in Time_ remake: The word you're looking for is "aesthetic". It's the reason why some older games with dated graphics (e.g. _Jet Set Radio, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Kirby's Epic Yarn,_ so forth and so on) look fine even today, while other games look like crud even though they came out two weeks ago, polygons be damned. Graphically, the _Turtles in Time_ remake is low budget, but not bad within itself. No, the damning part is that the aesthetics look like someone submerged it in a pit of grime, making the visual all dark and muddled, instead of crisp and vibrant. When it's difficult to discern one object from one another, and all of the backgrounds congeal together into one heap of shit, you should know that you right fucked up.
Superstar Saga was the only good game in its series. The sequels all fail to delight like the original did, the battle system changes made the bros attacks feel more hollow and the writing (while it was always simple but charming comedy) got way too simple. That said, RIP Alphadream
Idk about your older stuff, but your content that I've seen SLAPS. Keep it up! (Also the little "support me of ko-fi" sticker is a nice way of not shilling it, but it's like a gentle reminder that it's there. Me likey)
I don't entirely mind the Crash remakes art styles but what I DO mind is that the CTR remake kept the style. The tracks look gorgeous and the gameplay is AMAZING but half the characters remind me of Flushed Away.
peace walker might be my favourite metal gear game, love the hd collection. Great art, and its nice having hayter. South america works well for the series too.
My opinion on remakes is pretty simple; Ether be faithful, or be different. Pretty much every time a remake goes arwy, it's because they just could not settle on doing one or the other. Obviously you don't have to go 100% on ether side, in fact you shouldn't, but generally the best remakes ether bring the old game to a new engine and a new audience with some QoL and that's it, or they change themselves up to the point of being an entirely separate, but still recognizable, attempt at the same concept.
i think you're accurate with people not liking conker for the gameplay, by the time you get to the war level the game's controls have really taken a deep dive
I just wanna mention that the twin snakes is the way that Kojima wanted the game to be seen, and he preferred the cutscene style in it to the original. Totally get why it puts a lot of people off thk
Bowser's Inside Story remake may have destroyed everything around it, but shiiiieeeet it gave Dark Fawful a cool battle theme instead of that goofy shit and gave the Dark Star Core its own arena so just for aesthetic purposes I'm taking the 3DS version
I'm really sad about the fate of BIS's remake. I feel it does enough to warrant its existence, with Junior's Journey's Story being genuinely great, but it had to be on the 3DS, which killed it and AlphaDream. They REALLY should have done a Partners in Time Remake on Switch, since that game needed a remake more, and would have been easier to make work on Switch, and by extension, be successful.
Ok imma be honest I like these vids WAAAY more then the punch out videos, don’t get me wrong they are great but he’s just a lot funnier here, and talks about more unique content I like it
21:00 easily understandable given the time period. I worked at a VG store and parents would buy thier child as young as 5-6 any game, regardless of how violent or disturbed as long as there was no cursing.
I really enjoyed the Bowser's Inside Story remake because I was still a broke boy and didn't have a Switch yet. Plus, it was shiny and I could have a reason to play it again. Though at the same time, they really should've put it on the Switch. Release it for both systems, that way everyone's happy. Heck, do a compilation with the Superstar Saga remake and just slap Partners in Time in there. That way, the 3DS owners get the definitive experience and Switch owners get to experience the games for a possible first time. Heck, PiT didn't even have any touch screen use, (from my knowledge) so they can just use the Z buttons for swapping screens. I'm still bummed about the loss of Alphadream, so I'll just have to hope that Nintendo makes more inhouse. Also, shout out to the Luigi's Mansion remake. Convenient way to play it, but I can see why people want it on the Switch. I don't really care for the New 3DS right stick.

And I have a video that shares now much HP the boss on both phases as well as arm, leg, and crown HP amounts as well. And mind you, this is the early version of the Retravel mod.
I’ll be honest, I think the censorship criticism towards live and reloaded isn’t really all that big of a deal. I mean I can agree that it doesn’t make sense and wasn’t needed, but for people to completely dismiss this remake as outright “bad” is kind of blown WAY out of proportion. Maybe I would understand this criticism more if they removed gory or controversial scenes, but if anything they’re even more violent and cruder, such as Berry’s extended death scene, the great mighty poo now flips you off towards the end of the first cutscene in poo mountain, and thanks to the new hardware the squirrel electrocution is much more graphic. And this whole censorship thing seems to undermine the big improvements that live and reloaded has, such as the updated shooting controls, which makes spooky and it’s war much more fun in my opinion. Basically, I can agree that the censorship wasn’t needed, but I simply CAN’T agree that it single handedly ruins the entire experience.
My personal issues with the inside story remake is I hate the art style, replacing the pixel art with this weird smooth style just rubbed me the wrong way.
Dito, it shows especially in the giant fights. The originals art style let giant bowser not only look like an actual badass, but he also was far more expressive. In the new one he just looks like he stumbled out of bed in some angles.
honestly, I don't believe in the word dated when it comes to gaming. I think that people like older games, because they are simple, and aren't trying to shove the graphics in your face. When a company tries to "remaster" them 9/10 times, it is losing that style that made them great in the first place.
8:18 actually played Defendin dePenguin recently. It sucks. You're so strapped for cash to make buildings all the time and upgrading existing towers is more costly and useless than placing more towers, despite the building limit.
Tbh when it comes to Live and Reloaded, I do prefer it for its gameplay and musical enhancements. The original Conker had multiplayer but it used the god awful FPS controls, which Live and Reloaded revamped and I am all for it. As for the swears, I dont think thats enough to ruin an entire remake personally, since I still feel Conker is an actually decent game with the remake. The swearing being censored is a mild annoyance since its so piss poor you can tell what they're gonna say regardless. I just felt I should put it ojt there how someone can prefer the remake to the original game is all. Still earned a sub regardless, your content and style are pretty great
@@aureliodeprimus8018 Rare said that the censoring was their idea. On the N 64 the swearing made sense because it was shocking on a Nintendo console. Not so much on the Xbox version, so the swearing is pointless. So why was it made because Chris Seavor pitched a Sequel to Conker called Other Bad fur day, but Mircosoft rejected the pitch so a remake was made instead.
Ha, i support ya on Ko-Fi and somehow, ya next video has a Bubsy "What could possibly go wrong" quote show up. Nice. (Bubsy fan). I do think alot of remakes fail to understand what made the original good sometimes, but there are remakes that can pull it off good or at least have their own charm to it that is enjoyable in its own right. For instance, with the N Sane Trilogy remake, the fact they put Crash 3 physics and controls into the Crash 1 and 2 level shows how different those games played and felt from each other... and how with those physics, alongside everything not being boxes, the levels become more of a pain to deal with now compared to the originals. Also yes, THPSHD was a mistake and it got replaced with 1+2 entirely. I still feel bad for Robomodo, they clearly tried to make a good game since, but Activision... you can never know what Activision will do, one moment you're making an original Tony Hawk game, taking in all the requests and such and wanting to clear your name, the next you're made to rush to absolute hell and back a THPS5 because Activision doesn't want to renew a contract, you end up having your company killed right after the game's release as your name is now only known for bad games and to put the cherry on top, Activision goes back on that contract some time after like they're pissing on your grave after being the ones to bury you in the first place. Really sad. Good video tho, dude. Looking forward to that Tester vid heh. I know the pain, unfortunately, so good luck man.
I actually unironically think the NES versions of Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3 look nicer than the All Stars port versions of the games, and the entire NES trilogy _sound_ better than the SNES versions. I always have believed this, even when I was a small child. And for the sound part, there are some really baffling choices regarding changing what sound effects are cued to what actions - the sound effect that _should_ be used for jumping on Goombas is instead used exclusively for hitting fireproof enemies with fireballs. It's one where I can concede the convenience of compiling the entire set of games onto a single cartridge is a well worthwhile shortcut, and that _objectively_ a lot was added visually.
I think there is also a place to talk about remakes/remasters that fuck up the tones of the original. Yakuza Kiwami, while improving the combat largely, it added things in most every aspect that changed the somewhat serious while also over the top tone of Yakuza 1 became the hyper over the top wacky tone, especially with Majima. A lot of sidequests, as a result of reusing a lot of assets from Yakuza 0, have many sidequests that originally ended with a somber tone end with a funny little guitar twang and an onscreen notification. While I'd still rather play Kiwami, I do regret what we lost with the original. Kiwami 2, however, is great and improves pretty much everything, to my knowledge.
How did I never realize that both raiden games end with fighting government officials with samurai swords... Was that why armstrong was made? Unrelatedly, Arkham Origins had multiplayer for the same reason Assassin's Creed had multiplayer. It really shouldn't, but it was a unique spin on thing that was fun enough even if it didn't last. So perhaps it was better that the idea was attached to a single player experience than attempting to sell it on it's own.
The mario and Luigi remakes weren't all too bad, coming from someone who played the originals. I agree though, alphadream going bankrupt as well as the 3ds nearing its end kinda did screw some things up.
Live & Reloaded did have a lot of gameplay improvements, and the multiplayer was one of the most popular on the Xbox. But the extra censorship is just, why?
Parappa's visuals were done by Rodney Alan Greenblat, not C H Greenbalt. C H Greenblat was a storyboards for Nick and Cartoon Network shows and also created Chowder

I have no idea if this virtually eliminates input delay. In addition, you will need to buy a long cord as the one that comes with PS4 consoles is too short for this to be practical.
Why do I feel like I'm the only person who enjoyed partners in time
15:00 actually, the art is done by RODNEY Greenblat, with one t, not the creator of Chowder.
C.H. Greenblatt and Rodney Greenblat are not at all related.
To be fair, have you tried beating the original Fawful's Express on a 3DS? That fight is borderline impossible due to that stupid fire breath attack.
..I learned that the hard way. I had to find an old barely working DS just to get past that part.
That sucks. What about the 3DS makes it so difficult?
@syweb2 I'm not exactly sure, but on a 3DS, 8 times out of 10, the flamethrower attack just won't register correctly. The DS' and 3DS' mics could probably be just too different. Because when I attempted the fight again on an old DS, I beat it the first try.
I appreciate you acknowledging Legend of Kay. Not many people do that these days
Also, I will say a positive of XIII's remake ending up like it did was that it was able to introduce me to the original.
We don't "think", we "KNOW" Bowser's hot.
I don’t think I know you have never touched grass (don’t kill me it’s a joke)
War crime to ignore the best Mario and Luigi RPG.
The whole segment's about Bowsers Inside Story
@@bumblesmcfumbles
I was referencing both your Tf2 video and my channel.
Superstar Saga was the only good game in its series. The sequels all fail to delight like the original did, the battle system changes made the bros attacks feel more hollow and the writing (while it was always simple but charming comedy) got way too simple.
That said, RIP Alphadream
Just seeing these NMH transitions makes me smile.
Idk about your older stuff, but your content that I've seen SLAPS. Keep it up! (Also the little "support me of ko-fi" sticker is a nice way of not shilling it, but it's like a gentle reminder that it's there. Me likey)
And if you wanted to, it being moved between around between videos might be a lil funny
I don't entirely mind the Crash remakes art styles but what I DO mind is that the CTR remake kept the style.
The tracks look gorgeous and the gameplay is AMAZING but half the characters remind me of Flushed Away.
I didn’t know that revengeance basically happened twice, very cool
peace walker might be my favourite metal gear game, love the hd collection. Great art, and its nice having hayter. South america works well for the series too.
Alright time to drop the gloves. Partners in Time is bomb as fuck time to fight,
My opinion on remakes is pretty simple;
Ether be faithful, or be different.
This is why the gold standards of remakes will always be Resident Evil REmake and Metroid: Zero Mission. Those philosophies were applied perfectly.
Partners in Time was amazing. Personally one of my favorite games
i think you're accurate with people not liking conker for the gameplay, by the time you get to the war level the game's controls have really taken a deep dive
I thought for sure the gritty Bomberman remake would make an appearance
See that's more a reboot or reimagining. Trust me, I wanna talk about that game so badly
Underrated channel with good editing keep it up man!
There is Mario and Luigi partners in time.
Ok imma be honest I like these vids WAAAY more then the punch out videos, don’t get me wrong they are great but he’s just a lot funnier here, and talks about more unique content I like it
i really LOVE the yu-gi-oh card transitions...your amazing youtuber!!
Arkham City had multiplayer first. It had Banelings, he lived in a water tower all game and didnt speak to anyone outside of Batman
21:00 easily understandable given the time period. I worked at a VG store and parents would buy thier child as young as 5-6 any game, regardless of how violent or disturbed as long as there was no cursing.
Yet another excellent video laid out by our man Bumbles McFumbles!
Do a giveaway for that second hat, drive that viewer retention up
can't wait for shining diamond and brilliant pearl to end up here
I really enjoyed the Bowser's Inside Story remake because I was still a broke boy and didn't have a Switch yet.
Actually PiT had ONE not-optional but easily forgettable use of touch..but yeah
@@Toadallythebest At least I know someone who actually made a hard mode mod of Partners in Time and holy crap it actually makes the game fun because I was blind on HP amount so alot of enemies and bosses were like strong as hell.
@@goldenyoshistar1 what do you mean 'makes the game fun'
do you have any idea how ridiculous boss HP amounts are in the US version of PiT? If you had the US version, you had the harder game
and thats the same for Superstar Saga, and Bowsers Inside Story, the Japanese and European versions had to NERF the boss HP for all 3 of those games
@@woobgamer5210 you haven't heard of Retravel have you? Retravel is basically a mod that buffs and makes every single enemy and boss even harder. I played an earlier version of it and I took nearly an hour and a half to beat the final boss which normally has 6500 HP on both phases, had honestly a lot more than that... And I have a video that shares now much HP the boss on both phases as well as arm, leg, and crown HP amounts as well. And mind you, this is the early version of the Retravel mod.
These boots have amiibo support feels so much like a scott the woz joke i wouldnt doubt it if you read that line off a leaked scott the woz script
Exoparadigmgamer did a really great breakdown of cbfd vs cbfd live and reloaded and it makes the points above really eloquently.
I actually loved the Conker multiplayer as a kid and spent A LOT of time on it
21:08 The Hitmonchan from that Literal PokéDex Dorkly series must’ve been FUMING when he heard that!
My personal issues with the inside story remake is I hate the art style, replacing the pixel art with this weird smooth style just rubbed me the wrong way.
It's still pixel art, and honestly the art style of the remake is why I prefer it over the original. Some areas just look amazing like Cavi Cape
Dito, it shows especially in the giant fights. The originals art style let giant bowser not only look like an actual badass, but he also was far more expressive. In the new one he just looks like he stumbled out of bed in some angles.
@@idunno_ Same here. I’ve always thought the original pixel style looked super ugly, especially on Superstar Saga.
We can just put all the Re stuff into one simple word
Redo
honestly, I don't believe in the word dated when it comes to gaming. I think that people like older games, because they are simple, and aren't trying to shove the graphics in your face. When a company tries to "remaster" them 9/10 times, it is losing that style that made them great in the first place.
6:21 this quote is legendary
Welp... Rockstar gave us a new one to add to the list boys.
Wait, so the Bowser's Inside Story remake is terrible just because of it's bad sales?
Good video! Also, I like your choice of F.A. cards :P
8:18 actually played Defendin dePenguin recently. It sucks. You're so strapped for cash to make buildings all the time and upgrading existing towers is more costly and useless than placing more towers, despite the building limit.
cant wait for the remake of this video where the only difference is the voiceover and video are slightly de-synced
That Wikipedia joke got me. Top-notch writing!
Still earned a sub regardless, your content and style are pretty great
The fun part is, the original had also some censoring here and there. The remake literally just shuffled the censors around...
I will never stop defending Twin Snakes. It is an improvement in every way
I'm glad I'm not the only one who refuses to acknowledge the existence of Partners in Time.
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who actually liked Partners in Time
9:59 ...was immediately followed by a Sephora ad. Got a real laugh out of me.
4:15 I agree with all of this, that game was the first Adventure style game I ever played, so I was extremely disappointed with the remake
Speaking of games that did a good job of feeling like a comic book, ultimate spider-man from the GameCube, ps2, Xbox era
I'm guessing there wasn't much to say about Sonic the Hedgehog: Genesis.
"Witchcraft, burn it" made me laugh, several times.
17:14 Great, now I have to watch all of DBZA *AGAIN.*
The sad is he didn't stay enough to witness Sonic Colors Ultimate.
I did not know Bowser's Inside Story had a remake. I think I'll just keep using my original copy.
The blue ball had a dorm yet
The mario and Luigi remakes weren't all too bad, coming from someone who played the originals. I agree though, alphadream going bankrupt as well as the 3ds nearing its end kinda did screw some things up.
Woah, we're being treated well today with a 22 minute long upload
Also a weird opinion, conker would be my favorite 3d platformer.. If it had better movement :p
"Easily the best v--e game ever made" Have you heard of Tribal Hunter?
Voodoo Vince: Restitched is actually a good name
Live & Reloaded did have a lot of gameplay improvements, and the multiplayer was one of the most popular on the Xbox. But the extra censorship is just, why?
I get that BiS was the most popular but like everyone owned it and it didn’t need anything, Partners In time definitely needed it more
