Thank you so much Paul. I got a bit frivolous and did redo the light in the forest piece. What fun! I watched your video carefully 3 or 4 times and then painted along with you. (With many starts and stops). And, while the final result was not the same as yours, (or even remotely similar) it got many compliments. The truly amazing part was the addition of color to the essentially black and white painting. My wife’s reaction was almost comical with her mouth hanging open. Again, you’re a wonderful teacher. I can’t wait for Sunday. What’s that? Another coffee? Absolutely! It’s the least I could do.
Wow, you're a superstar Robin. I'll get the kettle on and celebrate your latest success! I'll post a teaser photo for this Sunday's painting a little later on today 😃😃😎😎
Wow Laura - thank you so much for your very kind donation🥰🥰 Its thanks to the wonderful support that I can continue to make free tutorials. I look forward to making many more - Have a lovely New Year and see you soon 😃😎
Hi Linda - I hope you do. Its a lot of fun I have a whole bunch of ideas for 2024 - just got to get painting! Thank you so much for all your support - Very best wishes for a happy holiday - Paul 🥰😎
Thank you so much for the beautiful birches! ❤ I'll defenitely try to paint my own version of them during the next year. Your way to teach and to paint simoltaniously are so inspiring to me. Thank you!!! 😊
Your welcome😃😃 Bob had them in the original and I know a few folks have asked for a demo so this was a perfect choice. Lots more tutorials to come too. Thank you for your support and comments its so appreciated. Happy hoildays - Paul 😎😎
Hi Jeremy and DJ - thank you and yes it was nice to have a few days off. I hope you also enjoyed a nice break. But, I get itch feet and find myself sitting in the studio planning my next video. So I'm making a start today! See you soon 😃😃😎😎
Love the painting and the HYSTERICAL decs and of course Ta Da the cat flap 😂 have a fantastic Christmas 🎄 and a big thank you for all the great tutorials, 🐈🐈⬛🐶
Hi there Sylvia - oh my humour dosn't get any better. I had a big bag of deco's to put up and lost the plot completely - hence to sparse display. Oh well next year maybe. Lots more to come for 2024 - Thank you so much for all your support - Very best wishes for a happy holiday - Paul and the furry babies🥰😎
@PaulRansonArt I lost the plot years ago Paul lol looking forward to a new year watching you paint and trying them myself cheers to you your family and all the other RUclipsrs that support you! Happy safe Christmas and New year 🥂🐈🐈⬛🐶
Merry Christmas to you and loved ones. Thanks for sharing these videos and all the little tips that have been super helpful. The detailed explanations on the brush loading angles/orientations have been great!
OOOOOO! Love the limited palette colors in this painting! I need to try some new 'brown' paints ❤ I do love the purple and yellow, yes it is a bit dark 👍 and maybe too divided and equal in area? Merry Christmas! FUN decorations Paul 😍
Hiya Annie - yes the deco's - I only spotted them on the watch through whilst editing. I'll try to do better next time - Ive not given up on the first version quite yet but sometimes things just start to go out of kilter and its time to reset. Lasts my last one before Christmas so lots of love to you and the family 😍😍😎
Hi Paul! I can’t wait to paint this! I might add some red violet flowers in the grassy areas. Wouldn’t that be a neat touch? 😉 I love the birch trees. Question: I have a hard time with branches in my underpainting. Maybe also try a brush? Or maybe use a sponge with an edge, mine would need a cut. They’re rounded. You’re painting here is beautiful! Merry Christmas, and Happy New year! 🎄🎉
Hi Stephanie - I hope you got to watch the video. I think a splash of color would be delightful. Just play with what ever you have until something works reliably. It might be almost anything you have that makes the process work for you. I like the edges of sponges too. I can pinch and change the shape as I go. So, time for a short break ( yes a day off! ) Thank you so much for all your support - Very best wishes for a happy holiday - Paul 🥰🥰😎
Hi John, Sadly no. He passed a few years before we bacame involved as teachers. But we have be fortunate enough to have had his original teacher trainers as our first mentors. They told wonderful stories of Bob that you never get to hear. Now get started. Try something simple and slowly build up your skills. It takes time but you'll be amazed once things start to fall in place 😃😎
Great question Robin As you already guessed it depends on the painting. Some paintings get a simple black gesso underpainting like this one. I did it in one coat. I don't mind if theres a little canvas peeking through or if it looks a little patchy. The oils will cover it up anyway. If I need a completely black canvas then a couple of coats applied with a small roller does the job. Allow plenty of drying time between coats. 😃😃😎😎
Yes, absolutely. Oil paints dry so very slowly they are sometimes considered to be still wet years after completion. They readily accept new layers of oil paint too. 😄😎

Hi Paul, wondering if you knew Bob Ross personally before he passed? Cheers 🎉 Love your paintings and I’m getting the courage to give it a go

Hi Paul. Quick question. How many coats of any color gesso do you typically use? Or does it depend on the piece? Thanks!
Great question Robin As you already guessed it depends on the painting. Some paintings get a simple black gesso underpainting like this one. I did it in one coat. Hi Paul. An oil painting can be fixed or adjusted months and years after finishing it. Would it be possible for a bob ross wet on wet painting?
Yes, absolutely. Oil paints dry so very slowly they are sometimes considered to be still wet years after completion. They readily accept new layers of oil paint too. 😄😎
Wow your video is so gorgeous but if you SEO your video you will gain more views. Thank you dear😊
Thank you - Happy New Year 😃😎
@@PaulRansonArt Happy new year dear ❤️🥀✨
