    Oh, the parties you could have! The outdoor spaces are incredible for NYC. The interior is a bit dated, but not awful; almost like a time capsule. I'd move right in!

    If you need me, I'll be lounging on the East Terrace, until dinner is served on the Upper level West Terrace overlooking The Met and Central Park!
    Remember "happy hour" is about 2 hrs.!

    Where the great jazz saxophonist Charlie Parker died, a broken man, shortly after the death of his beautiful 2 year-old daughter. He was staying with a jazz patron friend here who happened to be a member of the Rothschild family, a Baroness. She wanted to help save him, but could not. He was just 34, but his drugging & drinking had coroners estimating him at twice that age. R.I.P., Bird.

    • @megaswenson

      Not horrible at all: it's very FRENCH, and more sophisticated than what an ordinary person would appreciate. The BEST French interiors frequently have that pattern-on-pattern-on-pattern/colors-completely-coordinated precision.

    • @megaswenson
      @megaswenson 3 года назад +1

      @@ian1856 ...depending on whether or not the person doing that thinking, understands the root word behind 'Sophisticated'. One who IS acquainted with the history of the Sophists, and with the evolution of Sophistry, would probably not find 'Sophisticated' and 'Condescension' to be incompatible terms.

    • @megaswenson
      @megaswenson 3 года назад

      @@ian1856 I am not going to dissect your feats of illogic. However, I WILL restate that this apartment is beautiful, sophisticated, extremely relaxing to experience firsthand, and NOT FOR EVERYBODY. But then, Fifth Avenue is not for everybody. Possibly, you'd be happier shopping for apartments on Central Park South, where buyers and their decorators are more likely to conform to current trends. Inhabitants of the good buildings on Park and Fifth, frequently find their taste mocked by outsiders, just as they find their speech mocked as 'Locust Valley Lockjaw'. You're familiar with the phrase, “chacun à son goût”? Or, perhaps, in this case, one should say, "“chacun à son arrondissement”.

    The terraces are beautiful, but I imagine that noises levels are high because of its location. The interior is very tired and needs a lot of TLC, but I would enjoy making this into my urban palace.

    • @megaswenson
      @megaswenson 4 года назад +3

      The interior was newly-done, by the young wife of a billionaire. She's from a very sophisticated milieu, and her taste is the very best. Too, closer inspection will reveal that sound-absorption was a priority. The home is as comfortable as it is beautiful.

    Having that green space separates this from virtually every other place on the market. You can go outside w/o having to leave home. Unfortunately, the building is a co-op, so even if you’re wealthy enough to afford it, they can deny you if you’re not “one of them”. Snobs. Go for a condo over a co-op, every time.

  • @matthewhayes3142

    sort of feels like the sale for the benefit of an estate because the old dame finally died. it's a complete makeover. the outdoor spaces are amazing, but seriously, the whole tour is made for granny. not sure why it wasn't emptied and restaged to appeal to a broader age group. but, i seriously love the outside, yet once that west terrace was shown, get the invites for grandma's garden party ready, cuz every grand dame on park avenue just made a hair appointment for a blue dye job and confirmed their ambulation assistant for the day. seriously, perfect for every 80 year old widowed blue blood matron, but that's about it.
