I always preferred the ANH sculpt. The helmet for the ANH/Rogue One is usually the go-to design in promo material, and personally I believe it seems a bit more proportional, or at least less skinny!
Whoever said don't buy backwards must have a screw loose unless an imminent re-release of the figure is due.As you know i am very lucky enough to be into collecting Star Wars Hot Toys around when all of the OT figures were released but i can guarantee you if i had not of been i would be doing the exact same thing as you. Thank you for the comparison, as you can see there are quite a lot of differences that a lot of people do not realise, there are even more changes with the Rogue One Stormtroopers, very much more like the ANH Stormtrooper design but a more of a sharper, crisper look but in all i like the ANH Stormtrooper design the best.Great review and comparison my friend😎
Yes I hear it so much in sixth scale collecting that you shouldn’t buy older figs. The ideal scenario is exactly how you’ve done it as you were in from the start which is a great position to be in 👍🏻 I’m just late to the game with everything tbh 😅 and so inevitably always playing catch-up! And I think this is the case with a lot of collectors. And thanks for the RO trooper info. I think ANH will be my fave trooper design, but I *need* to get me some RO troopers!! 😅
Congrats! Another great looking trooper! Completely agree, collect what you like when you are able to. There’s nothing wrong with going back and buying grails. Maybe at the time it was initially released, you weren’t able to buy it for whatever reason. Also it’s never guaranteed that it will be re-released in the future, so the only option is the secondary market.
Thanks man! Yeah I’m perfectly happy with the existence of a secondary market. If you remove the scalping element, and just accept the prices are going to creep up over time as a result of supply and demand, new collectors can still own the classic figures, we may pay a bit more in the process for figures we miss, but there are always good deals out there 😀
Another good looking figure TK421. Have seen Star Wars about a trillion times can't say noticed how different Troops were in the films until you showed us.
Honestly mate, I’ve seen it a few times too (you may have seen it a couple more times by the sounds of it 😀) and I didn’t notice the different troopers and as a kid I didn’t even notice pauldrons!! It’s like, how the heck did I never notice rank and pauldrons! 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ I just thought they were all the standard white trooper!
@@TK421Collectibles I was queuing outside Sutton Coldfield Odeon in 1977 to see it got the dvd and would watch about once a month , haven't really watched it since getting married lol.
I love hearing from fans who saw it first time round at the cinema! I’m a youngling relatively speaking 😅 so didn’t get to see ANH or ESB but had vivid memories of seeing RotJ at the cinema first time round (‘83 I think). By that time I’d seen ANH a few times on TV 😍

The figures are amazing so much detail. Sorry, manners hi I just came across your channel on Wayne's cave videos. So glad I did love the videos fella keep up the great work
Hey Gareth! Thanks for stopping by and for the kind words! It was a great idea Wayne had to do those cave videos. I watched all of them I think 😀 Yeah there’s a massive amount of detail on these figures! So accurate! 😀👍🏻
It’s a great figure, looking forward to getting the ROTJ Scout Trooper to go along side it. Also there is nothing better then getting an old figure especially for a good price.
Now I will definitely need to get that two-pack of ANH Stormtroopers! They aint cheap - maybe for my b'day in October. I will guess that those who say "don't buy backwards" are those who don't buy for the long haul, and frequently sell their older figures to buy the next new thing. Value is in the eye of the beholder. Thanks for the shout out. What's next on your wish list?
Great idea for a birthday pressie! Yes, from what I can tell, like you say, it’s those that sell their older figures on for a tidy sum or it’s those that already own grails that seemingly don’t want others to own them!! Next on the list? I’m being drawn to Hoth Leia quite a lot, great figure but I just don’t know if I *need* three Leias??? Sand trooper turned up yet?
@@TK421Collectibles No sand trooper yet! I have a sinking feeling it will not arrive today. This isn't the first time I've had this problem with FedEx. Great trooper the ROTJ stormie. I've always preferred the ANH version, subtle though some of the differences are. Totally agree re buying back and grail hunting. You want a ANH trooper you have to hunt him down. HT have been doing re-releases lately but I can't see them doing a ANH (or ROTJ) stormie again. Any new troopers will probably be based on the Rogue One style trooper. I'm given to understand that The Mandalorian has various helmets used depending on the scene, including both ANH style and Rogue One style, but HT has been using RO style stormies for their Mando range. The ANH and ROTJ stormies are definitely distinct enough to get both for the collection. Especially if you love the OT and troopers. Re Grevious. Oh dear. I've seen a few reviews where the arms are so floppy, its like a marionette puppet with its strings cut. I have also seen various fixes that improve it. I've got Sideshow figures that are on the floppy side, like my Mythos Boba who struggles to stand up well. These figures just end up being figs I put in a cool pose and never touch again. I could get Grevious, fix his floppy joints best I can, then pose him once and never touch again but..... I'm like you, finite funds and space and I don't want to mess around collecting Sideshow stuff as well.
Really interesting info about Mando and the different helmets used depending on the scene! Thanks! I don’t have any RO Stormies so hopefully the Mando ones should go some way to making up for that. And yeah completely agree, I just can’t see HT re-releasing ANH or ROTJ troopers at all tbh. I was soooo close to getting Mythos Boba and Obi-wan! Congrats on owning them! They are great figures. I really love the look of them and the whole mythos line. And re: Greivous I appreciate the fact that people have spent good money on a flawed product but I’ve spoke to collectors who purchased it and they were expecting the problems but bought it anyway. I’d be the same if I was collecting Sideshow figures and exactly like you say, I’d try and work with it best I can, get it in a pose I liked by hook or by crook, and there it would stay, never to be touched again! 😃 honestly there’s like a 90% chance I’m still getting that figure 😍
Given that they just released the ROTJ stormtrooper last year (or year before?), I'd be surprised if they did another release so soon. I'd rather they concentrate on a new figure - like a Death Star trooper, Admiral Piett, or Commander Jarjeerod. We're two years away from the 40th anniversary of ROTJ, so hopefully we'll get some new figures to commemorate it.
