Really well explained including the part upgrade and reason why its done.. id just add that the dealer says its a common problem for this to get bad. Theh were going to charge me $711 for this!!! Thanks to this clip I've saved most of that.
Hi guys thanks for this video, if a winch mechanism seized up, and stops winding up or down, can it be removed and oiled/ greased and used again please. Thank you
AllMakes4x4 make it for about $120. I made video about it if you are interested check it out. Same model as in this video. Works great and saves a lot of money
I am feeling quite a bit of tension/resistance trying to lower and raise the hanger without a wheel in place. So I'm guessing the cable doesn't thread/feed left to right evenly inside its housing; like the excess cable is getting hung up inside the housing. Am I right in also guessing that the winch is designed to operate properly under load? I'd like some feedback before i order another. Thanks
That's a bloody good instructional video. Well done chaps.

Glad we saved you some money !
Great job. This is awesome. And nice to know I can do this at home in under 30 minutes, when the delalership wants $400 +...
Thanks for posting the video. I used it to replace my wheel wench.
Saved us in the middle of nowhere. Thanks
Great vid. Do you know where you can buy the hook and bar to raise and lower it?

Yes sometimes you can be lucky - othertimes it has been jammed by using an air tool on the mechanism and it gets tangled.
@@L663 Thanks very much for the reply lads, much appreciated 👍
do you know if any other "brand" will fit in a LR3? mine stopped working. I am looking for a cheaper part than a land rover part.

+TheMizarc1 Hi - it may just be rusty - try spraying some WD40 or similar on the mechanism
Dont wind it without load on the wire otherwise it will tangle in the mechanism,
