Some great advice and time saving points here - I have just removed the module from my wife's car and got it through the offside wheel arch without removing the bracket. I have ordered the refurbishment parts from eBay and will refit soon. I don't think that re assembly is going to be easy but the information here certainly saved me bucket loads of time.
Thanks for posting this playlist of epb videos. Shop where I’m at doesn’t work on Land Rovers except for the 3 friends that have them. In process of fixing ‘09 Range Rover Sport stuck on epb making that obnoxious screech. A ‘12 LR4 5.0 timing chain guides broke caused bent valves. Went to another shop tackling the body off frame engine swap. I can’t recall the year/model of the third one but that Range Rover was leaking coolant from cracked plastic piping in the engine valley. All of them underneath rusty to shit 💩
New sub here, great to see some other poor bastard besides myself suffering at LR epb modules .....! Spent about 9 hours on one last week removing/rebuilding to only find out what was said to the customer that it was a waste of time rebuilding and just replace the complete unit .....! 😡
Great Video, it actually shows what it is like, unless so many videos on here, that just show too-edited a version of removing bolts and cables! Thanks.
Hi Steve! I live on a tropical island and my RRS is no way near dirty and rusty and rotten as this one, and the Ocean is all around, so ryst should be. And it's a 2006. I reckon it gets that rusty because they go offroad and never rinse the mud off. Thanks for your tutorial.
Thanks Steve just got the bugger out haven't had as much fun as that since the donkey died . Got the Landy as a retirement hobby don't need a gym subscription should have taken up something easer like alligator wrestling much appreciated
Good day. I have the 2006 Range Rover sport. It couldn’t release the park brake. It ws giving me a “park brake fault system not available “ every time i try to engage or disengage the EPB. I removed the brake shoes just for recovery. Do u reckon its the same actually fucking me up.?
Absolutely shocked at how much corrosion there is on the UK vehicles. My Disco 4 is now 7 years old and still looks pretty new underneath despite regular outback trips here is Australia after which I clean the underside. The salted roads must cause a lot of damage.;
The salty roads here kill cars. 10-15 years and they're in the scrap yard if not cleaned properly, which most arn't. Even now, new cars are not under sealed properly from the factory and within the first year, there is rust in all the seams on the floorpan and chassis.
Do able to replace a cable in situ? My cables are fine and free but 1 of the threaded collars split whilst I was removing it to do wheel bearings/hubs.
Hi. I have a ‘12 Sport. In the spare wheel well there is a gaurd-ish metal shield. How do I remove the epb actuator off on this year? I have a US model.
It was great when land rover put that there. Made an awkward job 10 times worse. Been a few years since I done a later model but I think the actuator will come out through the right rear wheel arch.
@@pistonbroke i tried that mate but it’s still stuck on. It doesn’t release still stuck on you can get it to move if you really want to by giving it gass but you can feel it pulling. I found a module for it with cables but was wondering if the part numbers are cross compatible? Got a 58 plate sport 2.7. And is it a driveway job you reckon watching your video put me of
Maybe it has released but there is a problem with the cables or shoes causing it to bind. Not sure on part numbers, I thought all the actuators were the same. You can do it on your driveway but it wont be a nice job.
@@pistonbroke i left cables in chopped and was just going to re rout new ones my own way but I'll go back and grind em i think. What do you use in the grinder? Stone or carbide?
Angle grinder for the 4 bolts on the square bracket and a belt sander for the cables but it was easier access to grind away the captive nut, it's just behind the upper wishbone mounting and you can get to it through the wheel arch. Once done just fit a nut and bolt.
I'm out in Cambodia, I've got a 2006 RRS, the EPB as been immobilized so I'll be doing this repair one of these days. But the underneath of the car is nothing like that scrap bucket you've been working on, I'm not impressed with the build and design of range rovers. My definition of them is there a tank with plastic turrets, especially the air suspension system, a complicated mess. But we live and learn, luckily I'm pretty handy on the tools, and garage repairs are cheap here, as long as you watch what they do.
@@pistonbroke yeah fair enough you aint always got time to fuck about in this trade to be fair mate I did what u did with the mole grips earlier but just worked it and lubed it and it came right off so ur vid still helped ennit nice one 👌

Great work , and a lot of patience !! well done. I would have been kicking and screaming 10 minutes in !!
I wasn't impressed!

Canada is the same way, but my 05 HSE is a bit rusted underneath but not that bad

You probably could do it in place but it would be fiddly and awkward. Easier to remove it all.

Hi where are you located please
Whats the cost to repair and fit one on an lr3
Is there an emergency hand brake release on these even tho it failed ?
Yes, it's under the centre console.
@@pistonbroke tried it mate but still grabbing on when I pull on it does that mean it’s the module not cables?
What do you mean? Put a hook or a screwdriver through the loop and pull it HARD, like fkn really yank it, you'll hear it go when it releases.

My has a spare wheel holder melted to the frame, leaving not much space to access the EPB Module. Woking on it since hours.🤬😄🤷♂️
They're horrible they are. They welded that in on the later models. I think you can get it out through the wheel arch.
Great video and job, nothing easy on those LR!! I’d say the levels of rust mean that your going to be doing a lot more to that Bus!😂😬
Subscribed just because of the name of your page mate but great video big help mine has just gone on a 2006 sport again 2nd one in 18 months 😂😂
Great work. Patience of a Saint. How long roughly did it take you to remove it.
By the time I'd cut every bolt off, about 5 hours. Should only take an hour or so.
Great vid mate, any chance of letting me know the source for the gear kit inside module
You can get it off ebay.
What would you charge for that job? Where are you based?
got quoted £400 + VAT with a supplied EPB unit heard nothing for 3 days now. Very worried at the bill I'm going to get at the end to be honest
They can't charge you more without contacting you first. They quoted £400 + VAT so that's the price you pay.
Thats a good price to be fair, where is that?
the misery of doing this job on the drive, no ramp or cover with detritus constantly falling in your eyes is hard to describe.
All I can say is rather you than me
Not seen so much rust on one car in a long time.
great vid that mate, show how tough it is, I'm changing cables and the fooker is an 2005, rusty as hell. what a pig.
This is a 2006, It was a twat mate. 5 hours of cutting and grinding.

Great video Steve. That was one tough job. What's up with all that rust? Too much salt on the roads during winter?
Hello Alp. Yes salty roads in winter. It kills cars here in the UK. We also have a very damp climate which doesn't help either.
Hmm, I was under impression cables are not sold separately, you have to buy whol EPB kit - module with cables.
You can get the cables seperately. Part numbers SPB500012 & SPB500081.
What a shit job to have to do, my L322 has an EPB do they suffer from the same issues ?
I've never had to replace one on a L322 so I suppose that says something.
Thanks for that brilliant
My 2007 range rover sport is absolutely corrosion free, not the tiniest sign of any but that's in Spain
If it's in Spain then that's why it's not rusty. They rot like hell in the UK due to our shitty climate and salt on the roads in winter.
Nightmare of a job, when you cut those bolts how do you take them off later ? Gotta admit I hate working on Land rovers 😂😂
You can get to the captive nuts, just chisel them off.
Bro u didn't even try to unsieze that 🤦♂️👌🤣
No point. Every one I've had like that never comes undone. So now I don't even bother trying.

Nightmare on Elm street.
Honestly with that much rust I wouldn’t be changing parts I’d be changing the whole car lol
Not my car, bloke wanted it fixed so I fixed it.
@ lol my comment was just a general statement
I know, but yeah it was a pile of shite.
@ about to do this job myself! But am thinking of replacing the entire unit. Does it need to be reprogrammed if I do so?
@@chicagojay7204 yes it does
