  • Follow along as I dive into one of my favorite medium format film cameras - the Rolleiflex 2.8f! This twin lens reflex camera is renown for the photographs it captures, especially with the iconic Carl Zeiss Planar lens and 2.8 aperture.
I have traveled with a Rolleiflex all over the US and to multiple countries across the world and have grown very fond of the camera despite its qwerky mirrored image composing. 6x6 is a great format to display simplistic compositions and allows a photographer to hold the camera in any orientation to get the shot!
At the end I showcase some of my favorite photos I have taken with this workhorse of a camera.
    Thanks for watching!

Minolta too made excellent TLR:s, as did Yashica and Mamiya, to name a few.

While I'm happy with my Yashica Mat-124G I'm always looking at other tools. With that said I couldn't help but notice your closing tool......blue skies Sir! 😎

I’ve never had anyone recognize it! Blue skies my friend 🤙🏼 the Yashica is a great camera, I took one to the UK years back.

You turned it into a 2.8c, which is what I have. A much more elegant machine without the unsightly light meter.
You didn't mention the lens. Is the Zeiss or the Schneider?

Yes! I have a C as well but love the ability to take the hood off and being able to change my shutter speed to 1/500 after cocking is nice as well. If I could swap the aperture to this model that would be the dream! I love the 10blades.
This is the Zeiss Planar lens which I absolutely love! Very sharp and has great contrast, thanks for watching!

It might be the greatest TLR ever, although I prefer the 3.5f over the 2.8. It's easier to carry around and (I think) more pleasant to shoot with, I also think that the lens on the 3.5 is a little sharper than the 2.8, but others may dispute.

Also a great camera, I have not utilized a 3.5f but constantly hear great things about it. Especially that it’s a bit lighter than the 2.8 variants

I want (or rather will be getting), a Mamiya C330 Professional S by Christmas.
I think these TLRs are really cool.
But first, I must buy the MiNT Rollei 35AF this summer.
1 camera purchase at a time. I don't want the G.A.S to get me.
Question: why is Stephen kneeling to do his video?

Mamiya c330 is cool with the interchangeable lenses but pretty big from what I’ve seen. I’m sitting at a desk in this video 😅 thanks for watching and watch out for that GAS!

I had a C330, and choose it over the Roliflex. It is big. One thing it had was was a moveable marker that appeared on the screen, when doing close up work the 2 lenses are not looking at the same area and this marker (a red line/bar would appear and indicted that everything above it was not actually going to appear in the photo

be careful the c330 series is very heavy.
