@@Rchelicopterfun I just removed the plastic housing and desoldered 7 of 9 servo connectors I didn’t need from a new Spektrum AR802T receiver in order to save 7.7 grams for an Oxy4 Sport build. So yes, you cutting 9-10 grams of fat from your pilot is definitely worth it. Not only that, but the 3D printing and doll surgery you did was pretty amazing. Very nice work.
Currently, I am at the same point: adding a pilot to my Funkey 600 AS350. Thank you for that lovely video, arriving just in time! And its nice to end a video with a beautiful flying scale heli in front of a beautiful house. I think the moving head is a nice touch. Doesnt matter if other people will see it.
Absolutley worth it, great little project, thanks for sharing a simple but effective uprgade. I really enjoyed the mix of 3d printing, design and re purposing of GI Jane.
I say yes it is well worth! Thanks for all the great videos, I'm just starting out in rc helicopters and your content is very helpful. I bought all 4 of your ebooks and just got my rm tx16s which is awesome. Thanks for your videos getting the transmitter all set up, now all I need is a helicopter :)
I don't fly RC helis but I did really enjoy your process for this. I could definitely use this in my Jets! Love the cable management too! Very nicely done!
Hello IT looks so good. it makes it cool. I love it. I am glad you did it. You did a very good job. I fly helicopters to and airplanes and quad's. all fun. Have a nice week end From Robert Wioch From Texas town Waco ... I gave you a thumbs up 👆 # AAAAAAAAAA++++++++++
I watch all of your videos you are spot on. Please keep up the good work question for you can I purchase from you too have the 3-D body that you created for G.I. Jane
Wow! Amazing work👍.yes it is worth it. This is what I have been looking for and want to do for my 700 size LongRanger. May I know if anyone know if a 1/6 scale figure would scale to my heli size? Thanks bro for sharing.💕
John, good mod! I would be interested in working with you to get some pilots in my scales. I have the 700 size Blackhawk and can’t find a good pilot to go in the airframe. I’ve been using the scale warbird pilot 10” figures and mostly because they need the weight up front.
I just bought this radio master tx16 max for me. And was very surprised to see that they had put the tention setting screws on the outside by the gimbles. I wrote to them thought they made a mistake. This is what they wrote back to me. im thanking of ruban 407 as my 1st scale bird i have built a 650x um im going with hbl980 on the tail and ds1220s on the main servos and the bvd axon with self level or do u recommend the ec135
As I have zero experience with either of those two specific Roban models, I'm the last person to ask. However as I state in my full review of their AS350, I don't consider any of the Roban super scale helicopters as a good 1st scale heli. Best to cut your teeth first on skinning a regular set of pod and boom mechanics with a good fuselage (such as FunKey). Basically something not as heavy and not as underpowered with a simple two blade layout, but that is just my opinion.
Hi John, sort've off topic, and I'm sorry. But you probably know my name by now, and how it seems I put questions pertaining to other things, in the wrong vids. I do however like all your videos. I wanted to see if you were going to do a review of the new Open TX system called Edge TX? I saw it in another channel, but anything Open TX, I always refer back to you, as you're someone I like, and you give you're honest opinion on everything. Thanks.
@barneyrebel0123 - Thanks for the kind feedback... EdgeTX is the OpenTX development team's platform for developing ideas for OpenTX; their beta test / prototype version/s if you prefer. As I never run the latest firmware on pretty much anything I own that runs on software, and usually wait at least a couple months before updating firmware so all the bugs and problems have been sorted out, I have no interest in beta testing Edge versions out. So no, I have zero plans to ever use or review EdgeTX unless it morphs into something totally different over the coming years from what it is right now. If you want the full low down on EdgeTX, visit their site. Right on the home page very first chapter, it says who Edge is for and who it isn't for - I'm clearly in the later group. I value consistency, reliability, and stability on orders of magnitude over the latest bells & whistles). Totally your choice as to which group of OpenTX user you are 🙂
@@Rchelicopterfun I completely understand. The video I watched was somebody who was saying, that it's a group of people who work on the one we all use, and they asked the other people working on it, if they could just sort of "Run with it." I guess nobody had a problem with it, and the latest version of Edge has the touch screen we've been waiting for along with some other stuff promised. I'm sticking with what I have as well. Thanks for the reply. BTW this Heli is amazing! The detail shown in the video, where you have the pilot's head turning, makes it that much more incredible and scale! This is the first Heli I've heard, that actually sounds like a REAL full sized one as well. Great work!
Sorry, never saved the files. It's so easy to make them on Tinkdercad and customize them to the seat shape which is always different between models. Plus the fact I would change a few dimensions if/when I make another.
@ricromano8042 - as shown & stated in the video, I made my customized sized & shaped body in Tinkercad (pretty much the easiest & most basic free to use 3D design tool out there). As I also stated in the video, the servo is just a standard & inexpensive 9g micro servo (with the mounting tabs cut off).
Nice work. I am looking for a 3d printer to make some 450 size heli fuselages and figures like you have done. Was wanting to ask what 3d printer do you use
Not sure it would help many unless they want to print the exact same size/scale. The ball sockets can't be scaled up or down because they no longer work afterward; not to mention if an idiot like me can make a little articulated mannequin in Tinkercad - anyone can, and likely do a much better job of it. If there are enough requests however for this exact size articulated mannequin I came up with, I'll consider making the STL file available.
Hello I was hovering my eachine e160 and about 3 mins in at about 2 foot haver the heli did a quick jerk/ power loss? dropped for a quick sec then when back up to normal. speed/ power and hover .I did that twice. Then after 5 mins a connected a second battery went to hover and about 2 mins in it did it again, it did it one more time before time ran out. I was wondering what do i need to look for, or do to trouble shoot. I have about 12 hovers on this heli, Thanks
Radio signal loss or bad battery connector/connector wiring/soldering would be my most likely guess & starting points. Certainly could be other reasons like a faulty motor or ESC, but you generally start diagnostic fault tracing on intermittent issues like this with the most likely & easiest to check working your way to most unlikely & hardest to check.
Hello Thank you for your reply Few couple of weeks ago i messaged you in regards to my eachine e10 that is was jerking/ up n down, well you called it! A couple of batteries later i was at 1 foot hover and it just dropped and would not do anything, turn out to be the ESC, so i ordered another ESC. I received the replacement, installed it yesterday. But now it wont bind to my radiomaster tx16s (which i was using when it stopped working, which it was already bound), it binds fine to the TX it came with? Any ideas what's going on or what i can do? Very nice John! I vote an enthusiastic YES… the pilot with moving head is worthwhile. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Glad you think the 9-10g weight sacrifice is worth it too.

Nice!! I hope I can make something like this to my Raptor 50 MD530.
awesome build

Hello Jhon! Could you make more videos about build scale helicopters, please?
We'll see 🙂
You can´t make videos about build scale helicopters, unless you are building one. Asking for, makes no sense.
John, would you consider sharing your STL files for the pilot sir?

John did you make the pilot available on any 3d platforms ? I too have been looking for a pilot and also found the prices to be ridiculous.

HM military action figures would be to big then? They are smaller then Action man / GI Joe Action figures.
