The previous battery in my Grand Prix was an Optima Yellow which was installed in 2008, so it lasted for almost 12 years. Now it seems the best on the market is Odyssey. So I bought one and now my car starts like it should again: instantly. Paid almost $300 for it but it's good insurance from getting stranded somewhere.
Without a doubt, these are the BEST batteries made today. Still using a battery from 1997 in 2025 in my jetski. Thanks Odyssey for keeping them made in the USA🇺🇸
I'm sold! I just told my mechanic to change out both Champion wet cell acid batteries to the Odyssey Extreme Group 65 batteries in my F250 7.3 liter Super Duty diesel truck!!!
Its all I buy. have many of these batts. the two oldest are 12 years old. Still operate 100% after 10 years of service running a hydraulic pump on a trailer over 100 cycles per week. NOT ONCE HAVE THEY EVER WENT DEAD FOR PUMPS OR STARTING MY TRUCKS! The one thing I have found that is worth the money!!!
outstanding product, using this in a professional car starter pack for several years; after changing the dead hawker 12V 16ah with another brand, it wasnt as nearly as powerful as the Hawker was. Enersys pure lead is worth its money.
Great video and demo, I am extremely impressed with the manufacturing process for Odyssey batteries and that they are still made in the USA, and are of the highest quality. What is the recommended voltage output for an alternator when using a AGM battery? I recently found a website selling custom 250 amp and 350 amp alternators with 14.8 volt alternator voltage regulators for AGM batteries on GM cars, is that the correct voltage that should be used?
Johnson Controls bought Optima batteries and moved manufacturing to Mexico, I was watching a video by Scotty Kilmer that stated they also changed the type of lead used and is using an alloy mix which lowered the quality and longevity of the battery, yet their prices have not decreased only their profit margins have.
Hey Bruce Why is the Cast- On Strap so thin ? I worked for a battery manufacturing company for many yrs as a cast on operator and straps are not supposed to be that thin
Interesting video I liked it and it looks like an awesome product. I saw odyssey batteries as a sponsor for NASCAR phenom Hailie Deegan Thank you for making an awesome product and for sponsoring her endeavors
I just installed one in my wife’s and my vehicle. It’s much heavier than the ones that came with the car (factory). It’s very obvious it’s higher quality.
Cool! How much? My main concern is price vs. efficiency vs. longevity (warranty). Once upon a time, batteries were warrantied for 72 months notwithstanding such sophisticated manufacturing process.
Definitely a unique RUclips video very unique uniquely American made only for the uniquely quality conscious consumer I hope you like my uniquely written comment
Had an Optima Yellow Top in my 2011 Tacoma from new. Lasted 8 years, but I've heard since they moved to Mexico, the quality has gone into the toilet. Odyssey Extreme is the way to go.
The video looks great but I have had two Odyssey batteries before & they both failed & 2nd within a year . The first one was replaced under warranty ( thank you ) . I had way lesser lead acid batteries last longer . The second battery was with out a doubt properly maintained but still failed by not being able to charge .
I really love the video I Live full-time off grid with a true deep cycle batteries and my question is your battery has a 1 mm thickness for the plate and I'm told that this is not good for solar as the plates will warp that's my question is this true or faults
I use odyssey battery’s in my Harley motorcycles. I’ve had them last 10 years. On 2 different bikes. And 12 years in my Silverado. Still hurts to pay that much for a battery tho.
I just watched an Interstate Battery video that was red exactly the same way 🤨🤨 maybe it's like french fries at fast food places and everyone has their own way of doing it even though the end result is the same product lol
400 cycles to 80% DoD but how many cycles to 50% DoD? The industry standard normally states/recommends 50% DoD max. Can I correctly assume about 700 to 800 cycles to 50% DoD? Also, what is actually happening to the battery that it limits the # of cycles? Which part of the battery is "wearing out"?
Spoke to Bruce and Kathy a few times. Kathy in Tech know's her stuff. I will try an ODYSSEY one more time but this time I will put a PowerPulse PP12L on it to hopefully make it last. Another thing Kathy stated is to NEVER use any charger other than their's to charge these or the higher voltage will destroy the battery....... but they have a list of approved chargers: www.odysseybattery.com/documents/ODYSSEY_approved_12V_chargers.pdf 2020 Approved Charger list: www.odysseybattery.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/ODYSSEY_approved_12V_chargers.pdf

Optima batteries used to be awesome but their quality has dropped over the years. What is the warranty on the Odyssey battery anyway? I've always wanted one and I can see now why they cost so much. However I need to know what the warranty is? Walmart still offers a 3 year replacement on their Everstart Maxx batteries and you can still get them for a 1/3 of the cost of an Odyssey. An Odyssey would have to offer a much better warranty if I'm going to pay triple the price of a Walmart Everstart Maxx battery. 🤔
Great point, I was also wondering why they only have a three year warranty, I use to have the best Interstate battery for my 1998 BMW and it had a 7 year pro rated warranty and 48 month free replacement, but the replacement Johnson Control batteries they use now only have a 36 month warranty.

Wow! This guy is stronger than he looks! Holding up a battery like it's a pamphlet!
yeah, I was amused by that, too.
It's just the outer body with no cells and acid..just like an empty box..this type is really heavy
empty shell LOL

Great Video! Thanks for the detailed explanation on the whole battery production process! well done!
Excellent video, I'll be ordering one very soon for my '33 Hotrod.
EXCELLENT Video! I'm sold!
These are great batteries. I just put one in my sailboat for starting.
That was a cool process...
Great presentation I'd buy one 👍
Love my Odyssey batteries and so does my Subaru!
Would be interesting to see the battery top get sealed/closed after the acid got put in.

I like what I'm seeing. My suv uses a 94R type battery. I only see the performance version for my suv. I would like to get the extreme version?
Impressive!
This is freakin awesome!
How does the guy make the battery look so light at the end of the video?

Well this video WAS uploaded in 2014.
No, “North American” sourced lead.
BACK IN THE DAY WHEN WE WAS YOUNGER MY BROTHER HAD A OLD WIZZARD BATTERY THAT LASTED 13 YEARS BACK THEN IT WAS ABOUT A 25 DOLLAR BATTERY
let's go to odyssey
