Although I was accepted in UP Manila, BS Public Health wasn't given to me and I felt that I wouldn't really be happy in a different course even though I'm in UPM. I'm now studying BS Medical Technology, my dream course, in Our Lady of Fatima University as a DOST Scholar. Are you currently studying for CETs?

Hi doc! I find ur videos really substantial and entertaining 😍 I'm an aspiring med student here! My degree program is BSPH in UPM. I'm just not so sure if I'd pursue med pa knowing how vital my course in itself is for the country. Do you think I can still practice Public Health (leaning on health systems and policy making) even if I pursue medschool? Or would you suggest that I stay on track with my course and help in improving our counrty's public health? I'm just anxious that I wouldn't be able to apply what I learned in my course as being a medical doctor is more on, as you've said, individualized healthcare. Hello June! PH alumni here na nasa med school. Pwede ka naman mag-PH track kahit mag-med ka kasi iba-iba naman ang mga expert sa public health. Ako ang balak ko pagkatapos ng med ay mag-MPH at DrPH (health policy) kung kaya pa. Definitely mas maraming opportunity kapag doktor ka pero dahil iba na yung PH curriculum niyo (2018 ako nag-grad) eh baka mas madali na sa inyo makapasok sa magandang trabaho sa DOH o sa mga NGO. Sa totoo lang naiinggit nga ako sa curriculum niyo. PH is ♥️

Tbh, bio and public health po yung ina-eye ko na pre-med and di ko rin po kinonsider ang public health sa UPCAT application kasi hindi pa po ako ganon ka-knowledgeable doon pero super need pa po ng professional graduates with this course lalo na po sa health system ng bansa natin. Hi Maegan! There is a chance but I suggest having a number of med schools as option. Personally, andaming magagandang med schools sa Pinas :) Nasaang Region ka?
@@DoctorDalvie Yes, doc. I have at least 4 med school on the list for now. One of them is South Western U - Phinma. I consider those schools na merong DOH Scholarship po, since high school I've been relying to scholarships, until now I am a DOST scholar po. I am from Region 13 Caraga nga po pala.
Ang ganda kasi nahighlight niyo ung “preventative care” sa Public Health. Nanonood ako ng vlogs ni Dr. Willie Ong and he’s really heavy on curative medicine. May 2 path kasi tayo na pwedeng ipursue: - Capitalist Approach: US mataas ang obesity pero mataas ang life expectancy dahil maganda ang health care system. Ibig sabihin puro fast food pero nagrerely na lang sa Statin para mabuhay nang mahaba. This is favorable to Fast Food Companies and Big Pharma. - Preventative Approach: palaging nasa ilalim ng countries with high mortality rate due to heart disease, cancer, etc ang Japan and Korea. Kasi sa kinakain nilang sariwa and puro gulay. Ang pagkain ng Pilipino ay puro mamantika at maalat. Puro pork pati and walang gulay. So this will entail an overhaul of our cuisine, and para magbenefit na din ung mga vegetable farmers na atin. May doctor pa akong nakadebate sa FB, binabash niya lahat ng traditional and holistic approach sa medicine. Hindi niya alam madami nang doctor ang nagswiswitch into Functional Medicine. And sa US, may Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) and Doctor of Naturopathy (ND). Sa Korea nga, naka-integrate ang Acupuncture, marriage of Eastern and Western Medicine. And may mga Korean herbs din sila na piniprescribe. The long term solution is preventative. Given na ung pagkain natin hindi healthy and hindi ma-exercise ang Filipino. Ayaw nating naglalakad, pinagpapawisan or umiitim sa araw.

Mahaba ang Medicine dapat kung magdodoctor yan talaga gusto mong gawin sa buhay mo and may concern ka sa pasyente. Kasi kung napilitan ka lang and pera2x lang, magttranslate yan to how you approach patients.

I'm actually waiting for your next vlog because you'll be giving insights about BS Pharmacy in that vlog. I'm still torn between taking BS Pharmaceutical Sciences po kasi and my course in ADMU (not very related to medicine that's why I'm very confused on whether to pursue it or not kasi sayang din po yung scholarship ko doon) and knowing na BS Pharmacy is kinda different from my actual UP course as well. I'll ask lang po sana if BSPS graduates do stand a good chance of getting admitted into UPCM considering po na it's more on drug discovery compared to BS Pharmacy na patient-centered. Although I was accepted in UP Manila, BS Public Health wasn't given to me and I felt that I wouldn't really be happy in a different course even though I'm in UPM. I'm now studying BS Medical Technology, my dream course, in Our Lady of Fatima University as a DOST Scholar. Are you currently studying for CETs?

Hi doc! I find ur videos really substantial and entertaining 😍 I'm an aspiring med student here! My degree program is BSPH in UPM. I'm just not so sure if I'd pursue med pa knowing how vital my course in itself is for the country. Do you think I can still practice Public Health (leaning on health systems and policy making) even if I pursue medschool? Or would you suggest that I stay on track with my course and help in improving our counrty's public health? I'm just anxious that I wouldn't be able to apply what I learned in my course as being a medical doctor is more on, as you've said, individualized healthcare. Hello June! PH alumni here na nasa med school. Pwede ka naman mag-PH track kahit mag-med ka kasi iba-iba naman ang mga expert sa public health. Ako ang balak ko pagkatapos ng med ay mag-MPH at DrPH (health policy) kung kaya pa. Definitely mas maraming opportunity kapag doktor ka pero dahil iba na yung PH curriculum niyo (2018 ako nag-grad) eh baka mas madali na sa inyo makapasok sa magandang trabaho sa DOH o sa mga NGO. Sa totoo lang naiinggit nga ako sa curriculum niyo. PH is ♥️

Tbh, bio and public health po yung ina-eye ko na pre-med and di ko rin po kinonsider ang public health sa UPCAT application kasi hindi pa po ako ganon ka-knowledgeable doon pero super need pa po ng professional graduates with this course lalo na po sa health system ng bansa natin. Ang ganda kasi nahighlight niyo ung “preventative care” sa Public Health. Nanonood ako ng vlogs ni Dr. Willie Ong and he’s really heavy on curative medicine. May 2 path kasi tayo na pwedeng ipursue:
- Capitalist Approach: US mataas ang obesity pero mataas ang life expectancy dahil maganda ang health care system. Ibig sabihin puro fast food pero nagrerely na lang sa Statin para mabuhay nang mahaba. This is favorable to Fast Food Companies and Big Pharma.
- Preventative Approach: palaging nasa ilalim ng countries with high mortality rate due to heart disease, cancer, etc ang Japan and Korea. Kasi sa kinakain nilang sariwa and puro gulay. Ang pagkain ng Pilipino ay puro mamantika at maalat. Puro pork pati and walang gulay. So this will entail an overhaul of our cuisine, and para magbenefit na din ung mga vegetable farmers na atin.
May doctor pa akong nakadebate sa FB, binabash niya lahat ng traditional and holistic approach sa medicine. Hindi niya alam madami nang doctor ang nagswiswitch into Functional Medicine. And sa US, may Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) and Doctor of Naturopathy (ND). Sa Korea nga, naka-integrate ang Acupuncture, marriage of Eastern and Western Medicine. And may mga Korean herbs din sila na piniprescribe.
The long term solution is preventative. Given na ung pagkain natin hindi healthy and hindi ma-exercise ang Filipino. Ayaw nating naglalakad, pinagpapawisan or umiitim sa araw.

Mahaba ang Medicine dapat kung magdodoctor yan talaga gusto mong gawin sa buhay mo and may concern ka sa pasyente. Kasi kung napilitan ka lang and pera2x lang, magttranslate yan to how you approach patients.

I'm an avid viewer din po of your vlogs and started to look up on you eversince I found out that your a DTTB pala before. I'm actually waiting for your next vlog because you'll be giving insights about BS Pharmacy in that vlog. I'm still torn between taking BS Pharmaceutical Sciences po kasi and my course in ADMU (not very related to medicine that's why I'm very confused on whether to pursue it or not kasi sayang din po yung scholarship ko doon) and knowing na BS Pharmacy is kinda different from my actual UP course as well. I'll ask lang po sana if BSPS graduates do stand a good chance of getting admitted into UPCM considering po na it's more on drug discovery compared to BS Pharmacy na patient-centered. Pero I think your next vlog is already done na po and ready for uploading, so okay lang po if hindi niyo masagot. Thank you so much po, Doc Dalvie, and keep inspiring po! 😊
