- In Minecraft snapshot 24w09a wolf armor has been fully redone, the UI is brand new and blurry, and more changes to Minecraft 1.21 have been made. Also HUGE new item attributes have been reworked entirely! Today we look at everything in Minecraft 24w09a!

That blurred pause menu thing is great. Unblurring the menu will totally help some people who find themselves in a life or death situation in a hardcore world, and to access their options more clearly. Also, shearing bogs is so random, I love it. That should totally be an achievement.
There's already a mushroom farm design using them, I love it

I was getting worried that they weren’t going to add the dyable wolf armor so I’m so glad it’s here
I think they realized that was why many people voted for it and knew it was in their best interest to keep spirits up about the mob vote.
Otherwise, the people who voted for it would be disappointed, as well as the people who voted for the other 2.
Hmmm. I guess dye is just for decoration. I don't know any useful uses.

Multi shot blow and infinity crossbow are probably my two favorite things about this snapshot. It’s just makes me even more excited for 1.21.

The new ui reminds me of the old console editions for some reason; I absolutely love it.
I love the change to wolf armour! First, holy cow they actual made the dyable armour so much better with all those possibilities. AND they made the armour take damage before the dog, that is sooo much better.
Dogs are actually a good pvp strat now

What if there was a very small chance of getting a spawn egg from a vault? Even if they barely touch the other loot, that alone would make people explore every trial chamber they can.

We need a way to make bogged now for mushroom farms, maybe drowning skeletons in a swamp biome bogs them?
If you hook up a bogged farm to an iron farm, and then autocraft shears and put them in a dispenser, you could pull it off
wattles you should be able to put unbreaking , protection , and mending on wolf armor , oh and thorns !
Mending would be TOO broken, would make the scult repair useless, prot too, they already absorb ALL the damage, but umbreaking and thorns is really good, thorns could make the armor break more quickly.
It would be cool if the bogged turns into a regular skeleton when sheared

NOW SUGGEST TO BE ABLE PUT ENCHANTS ON THOSE WOLF ARMORS
Potential bogged improvements:
- when sheared, the arrows are not poisonous anymore (or there are less/weaker poison arrows) (basically if it has mushrooms there are poison arrows)
- the mushrooms regrow over time
Also, I feel like the old dirt panorama should be part of a separate pack, I don’t want to use old textures but I might want to use the dirt panorama. (Personally I love the new panorama change, but i understand some people won’t)

i dont think the first idea is good. going around and shearing them mid combat seems awkward

You are right tho, u likely aren’t gonna go out with some shears in your inventory, but hey if Mojang did something about the inventory maybe more players would and it would be applicable?

Example of a custom enchant :
Dillobubble : When falling , a bubble forms around , slowing the fall but suffocating. The bubble can be popped by attacking.
Imagine launching your wolf up using a wind charge machine and when it starts falling , the enchant activates and it falls oh so slow.
But then drowns. RIP Bonezo :(
what would be the point of that? the armor already absorbs fall damage. forcing the armor to take damage while falling just seems redundant
Looking forward to the update even more now. They would have been daft to not make the armour colour customisable. I wonder if they will ever enable it so trims can be used on the wolf armour? That would be pretty awesome.
New wolf armor is cool
Oh that's very interesting I never knew this so in brushing the armadillo your brush will break easier. Like after a good few brushes that should explain that the shell is very strong. And you can dye the armor in the crafting table okay this is good! And you can do as many colors as you want that's amazing!

The next layer of progression after tools and armor:
Accessories Increases player’s stats like hit points, block reach, jump height, inventory slots… . An Additional heart icons will appear for the player.
Accessories are crafted with blocks of ore (blocks of diamond, iron…) and unique loot from epic dungeons.
They have levels just like tools and armor according to the ore it’s made of, just like armor and tools.
They are spread through the dimension they are useful for, for example to craft the one who extends block reach, one should go to caves(trail chambers), adding inventory slots -> the end, adding breath points/bubbles oceans and adding hit points/hearts -> warden dimension… .
We should have to make part of the wolf armour with leather along with the armadillo scutes. Makes sense with the dyes. Either that or make it putting carpets to do that.
The black wolf armor looks like a different species or color of dog, I really like it
I'm planning on making a video going into detail with the more technical side of the new snapshot, since I've seen almost nobody talking about it--and it's huge.
Also, you mentioned being able to enchant a crossbow with infinity and stuff like that. Well, that IS possible in vanilla now (if you use a datapack). I'll also explain that later.
This update is AWESOME for datapack guys and modders!

Opinion about:
- Wolf Armor and its addition: Seems really decent and cool
- the Menu thing: Looks amazing, although might be hard to get used to, especially with old players like me (been playing since 1.12.2 was released)
- The bogged: The texture is fine and the mushroom shearing thing might turn to a mushroom farm if they add a way for skeletons to turn to a bogged.
- The Vault: I like it so far.
- Infinity working on crossbows, and multishot and piercing working on bows is nice (until a skeleton spawn with one, that'll be a nightmare to me)
Conclusion: 1.21 seems really promising, just needs a bit more into it. Perhaps a bit more redstone related things, a reason as to why a player must visit a Trial Chambers and a treasure item related to it (At the top of my head an armor trim or a wind charge thrower could fit) And let's not forget about the bundle being added.
not to sound greedy, as this update is already above and beyond what i was hoping for (re: wolf armor); but i would really like to somehow be able to modify that base salmon/brownish color that is still visible around the edges of the dyed armor. it's fine in some combinations, and i have no idea how it would be implemented (maybe similar to banners and banner patterns); but it would be really nice to be able to change the color of that as well. but like i said, i almost feel bad asking for more because the functionality is already more than what i expected.

They should add daggers, spears, battle axes, maces, great sword, long sword,long sword craft ing recipe should be one iron ingot on top of an iron sword, spears crafted with flint and throwable throwing knives crafted like the arrow but no feather

Ok the only reason I didn’t add a war hammer is people would complain that it doesn’t mine in a 3 by 1 area it’s a weapon guys not a tool so I didn’t put it on the list people can be annoying sometimes

Imagine if you could put a totem of undying with an ender pearl combine it then put it on wolf armor. When your wolf runs out of health it gets teleported back to back at a lodestone or some or spawn or bed, and stays there sitting.

I voted for crab mob, but this makes doggo a viable adventuring companion. Before I'd leave doggo inside the base because I fear doggo would just get blown up by a creeper. On that note, Mojang, uhm, could we have armor for our cats as well?☺

You can sheer the mushrooms off the bogged with a dispenser. Also Hardcore for bedrock coming soon.
Now armadillo is really useful
For the NBT item changes, it doesn't allow for anything new, in fact some things are impossible now, but it's a lot cleaner and more optimized. Not too too exciting, if you have a datapack it means a lot more work to update it

The dog armor should be able to take certain enchantments like thorns. They could even add a unique enchantment for the armor if they wanted.

Here something for your elevator: you just get that jumo boost with the breeze shoot when it hit down then you fly up got it?
What I think would be neat is if the background scrolled with the credits ( maybe at a slightly different speed so its easier to see the words) and showed a big cross section of a world, starting at grass and going down to bedrock or even the nether

Now that actually makes sense when you end the game you're not going to see the dirt background you're going to see a more of a star like end background. That's so much better to be honest
The next surprise for bedrock players is the hardcore mode but also they should remove the stupid lag so that we can play hardcore
This was a great move with the wolf armor, it’s very much useful now, I would actually take my dog adventuring with me now and help me in caves, mansions, raids and the armadillo is also much more useful because you will constantly need scoot to repair the armor, nicely done mojang! The only thing I think the wolf is missing now is different wolf skin colors
The armadillo scute has more of a use now and he feels almost complete

People said I was dumb and crazy for voting for the armadillo... but I knew the idea of a doggo army would prevail! 😁 You'd think people would know by now that if there's any question to which any possible answer is "more pups", that's always the correct answer.
When you mentioned that shearing a bogged doesn't change the mob itself, that made me think... imagine if bogged naturally shoot Poison II arrows, but after shearing they drop to Poison I? Flavorfully, it's like taking their mushrooms reduces the poison they excrete; but mechanically, it makes shearing them an actual combat consideration and not just a niche mushroom farm mechanic. Whenever one feature can cater to more than one play style at a time, that's a good feature!
**Small correction** about the technical changes, though. It's not about making things more data-driven, and it's still using NBT tags. The changes are specifically to the item stack "tag" NBT tag. Prior to this snapshot, you could store literally any data, any properties you wanted, in there, in addition to the default properties like damage, enchantments, etc. That's bad, because it meant whenever the game needed to read even the default properties, it had to deserialize the entire tag every time (i.e. convert it from a string of text into an actual data object in memory) -- since it couldn't know in advance what properties existed to read from. Serialization is relatively slow, so forcing deserialization for every lookup of default properties is pretty bad for performance. It also allows them to validate the values of these properties (for instance, when changed with commands), which couldn't be done before since there was no definition for what those properties were "supposed" to store.
So the change is that all the default properties that used to be freely in the "tag" NBT tag are now moved to more structured and well-defined components, so they don't require deserialization every lookup (only once when the entity loads); this is a significant performance boost at any point in the game where an inventory or entity is shown which needs to read item data.
So it's for optimization, not data-drivenness. (It also makes commands and internal code that use those properties much cleaner to work with!)

That being said, you can still just stockpile a ton of scute, making the armadillo useless after interacting once
We might see more. People have mentioned the uselessness. We might see spider scaring, potions, or otherwise.
Now we just need an increase in wolf damage output and better AI, then everything should be good
Yeah especially after this update I really don't get why all of this couldn't just be done with Turtle Scutes instead. That mechanic is more time consuming so you can't just stockpile a whole bunch and never interact with it again, and is far more interesting then just pressing right click on a mob a bunch of times.

Imagine if we could but armor trims on the wolf armor but; what if we could put it on our tools as well, from the sword to the garden hoe and maybe elytra.
Elytra can be customizable by using capes.
Weapon/tool trims won't work because there arent enough pixels to change

The reason to why Mojang is listening is BC they are done with the caves and cliffs updates since 1.19 was caves and cliffs pt 3 and 1.20 had arciology which was supposed to be in caves and cliffs so 1.20 was caves and cliffs pt4 so now Mojang is coming up with new ideas

Yeah the bogged actually looks like it has mushrooms as opposed to just them attached to his head. You can now actually clearly see the mushrooms. It would be interesting if you could shear them off maybe that turns them back to a normal skeleton I don't know
