    I have copd don’t know what stage don’t want to know. I’ve seen men overcome it by exercising like --. So I started exercising just like they are doing. I’m seeing great results I use a form of bicycle machine👍. It has very large foot pedals and a very comfy seat with back support🦯I ride for2500 steps. Using pulmonary taught breaths . I kick it fairly hard. I’ve been doing it every other day for a month now. People try this if you are not doing very well and if capable of course. Get active with something that challenges your body and lungs

      Good for you keep it up I’m severe emphysema according to Ct scan prob stage 3/4 ? I’m
      due breathing test so will know what stage I really need to excersize but also have osteoporosis with kyphosis and two fractures at the moment so I need expert advise on which excersize
      I’m going to try and do some very short walk as at the moment I can only just get around my small house feeling very breathless
      Baby steps and hopefully I can build myself up
      A big problem I have is humidity if that up I can’t even go in my garden or a car

      This resonated with me, I lost my dog and being heart broken, I didn't exercise for a few months I went downhill quickly, I have another dog now and am finding it alot harder to walk, I regret giving up exercise for those few months, hope I can build up stamina again, copd is no fun

      I had been going to rehab for 1.5 years….i quit rehab for 6 months. It just feels good to rest and not do anything. I’ve never smoked. I’ve had asthma for maybe 10 years. 2 years ago they diagnosed me with COPD. I didn’t even know what that was. Now I’m Stage 3 severe. I’m starting rehab again Jan 3, 2024. Am I going to be able to live more than 5.8 years? Do I have any Hope? I’m 62. They did not find the COPD until 2 years ago. I think I had it a few years before that. I’m sorry; I’m just scared waking up to be stage 3 and I’m on oxygen.

    I'm laying next to my mom in the ICU right now.
    Stage 4 emphysema (COPD).
    --
    My was told she had four years left to live.. A week later she gets sick, and was admitted to the ER.
    It wasn't even 24hrs before the forced onto a ventilator for a week.
    We have the tubes out and the ventilator.. It's really bad. Me and my sister are now sleeping with her until she passes or hopefully her chest clears up a bit, just enough to move around without being forced back onto the ventilator.
    My mom is very sedated and on fentynal.
    --
    This disease has broken me.. And Canada doesn't have a few of the newer treatments out that can extend the life of someone with COPD.
    I've witnessed an absolute nightmare for going on 2 years. My mom is such a lovely human being, she didn't deserve such torture. Nobody does.
    ❤🙏🏻 Prayers for my mom and anyone else suffering from terrible illness.

      I’m also Canadian. Researching and finding myself overwhelmingly disappointed because all the groundbreaking treatments are far from occurring here in the North. My Dad is desperate. And he is scared. Being his caregiver, seeing my once strong, tall, and active Dad wither away in front of me for 3 years. We are nearing the end.
      I’m terrified now that my son just started kindergarten… we all know that with school comes colds and viruses. How am I supposed to be his mommy and also care daily for my dying dad?
      Life is cruel.

    What about morphine for the end stage where someone is going through the dying process, surely it would help, if not just to trick the brain into thinking you can actually breathe!

    • @anthonyrosa5006
      @anthonyrosa5006 Год назад +3

      I think it would make things worse. The only possible relief would be to take enough morphine to lose consciousness. Until that point you would struggle to breathe.

      Morphine is used when in Hospice care. It alleviates the feeling of suffocation.

      @lbccarpediem 11 месяцев назад +6

      Yes morphine and Ativan are administered to keep the patient comfortable. I am in severe Copd. Stage 3. Probably getting close to stage 4 very severe. Air hunger is real. I am not afraid of dying but, suffering from air hunger is my fear. My Pulmonary Dr. Assured me that he wouldn't let me suffer. No DNR, just comfort care. Have "the talk" with your Dr. and family. Let them know what your dying wishes are. Have a living will, advance directives declaring your wishes. When I have good days they are great it's like I don't even have Copd. When I have bad days not so great. The more information you know regarding Copd the more power you have in helping yourself throughout this journey. Not being able to function on a daily does lead to some depression. So arm yourself with knowledge and take it one day at a time.

      @@jyotir_p9642Not a pleasant exit with this disease. But, rest assured in the end they will keep your loved one extremely comfortable. Between morphine and Ativan they will not suffer. During this time talk to your loved one. They say the last sense to go is the hearing. Even though they aren't responsive they can hear you.

    The dr said my son had end stage lung disease. He did not expand upon this so this has been very scary for me. My son totally glossed over the “end stage” part and didn’t even notice the Dr said it but I caught what was said. He got TB 10 years ago and now only has part of one lung left. The dr nor the nurse will tell me what they think his life span will be. So I just spend as much time as I can with him. He has been on oxygen 24/7 for 2 years now. Before that it was on as needed basis, but not used often. Then he got cat scratch fever and that did him in because he did not go to the dr, he though he could heal himself with colloidal silver. Now he has a hole in his side he has to pack everyday.

    I Have COPD. It didn't bother me at all. And then all of a sudden (two weeks ago) it got to where I can only stand one minute at a time. At which point, I lose control of certain body parts. My head, neck and upper body. It gets so bad, that I don't even think that I can ride in a friends car!! So I end calling the local EMT's. The last time, they sent me a bill(Fire Department) 355.00 Dollars. Maybe I should go to the hospital sooner next time. And I am certain that there will be a next time. I just want to make it to 64 years old. All the great drugs that I did, who could ask for anymore???
