Brilliant I’ve been told I have severe copd emphysema and bronchitis. Trying to get information from doctors is impossible . You’ve really reassured me as I’ve been out of my mind with worry. You’ve told me more in these few minutes than I’ve been told in years. Thank you so much xx
Thank you so much for this video. I hope you are doing well and you are such a blessing because all my doctor’s nurse told me is I have COPD and there’s no cure for it. Everything I know about it is what I see on RUclips and you explain it very well. Thank you and take care.
I've was recently diagnosed with emphysema and thought I was on the verge of dying!! Thank goodness I just found your channel which I've subscribed to. Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
Thank you for your video. I am stage 2 Copd, Post TB Bronchictasis and Pulmonary Fibrosis. Caused weight gain and feel like tossing my meds. Pulmonologist said some of the meds cause edema. I do gardening, and house work to try to get a workout. Experiencing Excerbations for a few days again. Thsnk you for your video.
Thank you Derek for such an informative video. It has answered many of my questions about my COPD. I am in stage 3 and this video has given me hope for a bit more life yet.
Thank you so much four years ago I was diagnosed with stage two, COPD, thank you for sharing your story, and thank you for being so brave, you have given me so much courage,
Thank you for your great words and wisdom of the disease.I was told that I only have two years of my life to live and it really had me on a down hill case.So now I work really hard to figure it out and try to breath better.
Thank you for your video. I was diagnosed with COPD 2018. I had cancer ovarian in March of 2015. I had a 10-pound tumor burst inside of me. I had to go through 10 hours of surgery. Then they had to use chemo inside of me to clean me out, because of the cancer that had burst inside me they let lay for 2 days in me. I went through so much the last five years. I had to go through chemotherapy after that. I started that in April of 2015 and finished October of 2015. I never did get better. I started declining and I started having problems with my legs and my hands. They would start crippling up and hurting me, it was spasms. My cancer doctor said that was not normal so she sent me to a specialist. They found out also that I started having seizures. They done some work on me and test and found out I have multiple sclerosis. They told me that my walking would probably be lost in a year. But I still can take three steps before my legs give out. some of it has to do with my multiple sclerosis and some of it has to do with my COPD. I am in hospice now I have been for a year in June. when they first put me in hospice they did not think I would make it this long but I'm a strong person and a fighter. I have had four times they have given me up for death but I have fought through all four times and have made it through. I'm 45 years old and yes it is hard on me because I am on my last stages of COPD. They did not know I had COPD until they done scan of my whole body. They believe that the kind of cancer treatment I had to have had a lot to do with my COPD getting worse. Sometimes I spit up blood. I've not been able to be out of my home since last October. not been able to be out of this room since Christmas Day. I'm not able to sleep in my hospital bed anymore because I got used to sleeping in a lift recliner. because my body cripples when I have spells with my multiple sclerosis now my body has crippled into shape of the recliner. So it's all hunched over. So when they lay me down in the bed and try, my body won't lay straight. Both of my legs are turn the opposite directions and then my back where my spine is it's all cooked over so when I lay down I'm at like a teeter totter I guess you could say. I'm blessed though and thankful for each day of my life. Though it is hard and I go through a lot of pain with the COPD and the multiple sclerosis. Then also having seizures, but I learned that life is not to be took for granted. I live mine for each day. Not for yesterday because I cannot change that, or no thought for tomorrow for I don't know if it will come. Just for today. I am thankful for that breath and the moment of my life in the moment.
God bless your heart. I'm in the hospital now and I'm 41 years old. I cannot imagine what you have gone through but I want to thank you for sharing your story. You have given me hope. I have several autoimmune issues like SLE and scleroderma. I've had asthma my whole life and I'm a smoker. I'm terrified to let my daughters see me die. They're 14 and 11. You have given me another reason to quit smoking. Thank you. Please be as well as you can be and keep fighting on. You're tenacious and that's wonderful.
Thank you Rebecca for your words of wisdom, hope and grateful attitude. Also for taking the time to tell your story of quiet heroism- a triumph of the human spirit! Your noble spirit is shining through like a champion in life. God bless everyone. Keep Hope Alive!!
@@roxannetinch5552did you manage to quit smoking? I spent 7.5hrs in a&e recently and quite honestly it frightened me so much I decided to just go to bed slightly earlier that night and then tackle cravings 6 hrs at a time (telling myself if I really wanted one after 6hrs I could but if not just keep myself distracted for another 6hrs) so far, so good. 4mths smokefree and whilst I know I'll never be running marathons honestly my severe copd symptoms have reduced so it is worth it. I also used sleep hypnosis for quitting smoking for about 4weeks before my ER visit and had gotten down from 40 a day to just 4 so maybe the hypnosis helped me to be ready. Honestly trying to stay at just 4 was so much harder than just quitting. It was constantly kick-starting the cravings. Hope you're doing well
Thank you for sharing. I admire your strength ❤ wishing for you to be strong and live as best you can. I believe this to be worthwhile. ❤❤I got COPD level 4 and I am still learning not to panic

Keep your spirit alive! It’s not always what the doctor say, it is how powerful your spirit is, even though I’ve been getting very depressed since I can’t do my work anymore and I love my work I lived for my work for 45 years, now I cannot do my work, and I got depressed, but I believe that we can continue on doing other things
You have helped me tremendously and answered many questions in my head and I much better understand what is happening I have had COPD over 5 years diagnosed but had asthma since around 12 your amazing and I'm motivated now to maintain myself a bit better I'll be watching I've subscribed and happy breathing to you love thank you
Derek this is 4 years later I hope you are still doing well, my Dr. always tells me I do so well (3rd stage) because I'm a skinny women, those are his words. He says the more you weigh the harder it is to breath so I guess I better stay this way, I did read an article on copd that says that you burn calories just trying to breathe I fully believe that.
Thank you Derrick. I've recently been diagnosed with severe COPD and was really frightened. On the upside that fear has aided me to stop smoking. I do fear better for it.
Thanks for all your effort Derek. I lost my 29-year grandson. I was very close to him. I took to my bed for almost two years grieving. When it didn't kill me I thought I'd better try to improve my health. I have no one close by. My friends have passed or moved away. So, I have been on O2 since 2014. Had to have it 24/7 and went into a depression, then things got worse. Now I am trying to move, eat better, grown flowers in containers. I have a good deal of back pain and if I sit around it is worse. I wish you were nearby and I'd come visit you. I live in So.California. I saw a film on the ancient world of Britain, Wales. Thought of you and wondered it you'd been to those sites.

I’ve gained almost 20 pounds since I was diagnosed with COPD… so how do I know that is water in my lungs or I’m eating too much? Your posts are great, I learn so much.
Thanks for the information I was diagnosed with emphysema when I was 34 and I am now 49 and finding myself tired and breathless more often so I bought a breuer pulse oximeter and my O2 levels are fine, my heart rate is high. I have never been to my Dr about it since being diagnosed and I was wondering if maybe I should speak with him.
I suffer from stage 2 COPD And GERD, which is so painful- I get sick at least 3 nights per week which exacerbates my breathing problems. I also have gained so much weight, a side effect of one of my meds. Needless to say I dont sleep very well even though I take a sleep aid
My mother has a Fev-1 of 14%. I noticed a spot beside your mouth. I noticed because my mom has that too. She has a cream her doctor gave her. She has went into respiratory failure 3 times now and had exacerbation after exacerbation. She is 60 years old, was diagnosed at the age of 40. She is on palliative care now.
I have severe copd emphysema and bronchitis just wanted to ask if you have any trouble sleeping or even trying to get to sleep and now i cant sleep in a bed l sleep in a lazy chair sitting up it feels like im drowning and l cough alot more is this normal lol
Thanks Derek, I learned a few new things like the water in the lung tissue thing. Here in California, when the atmospheric humidity is above 75%, it's harder to breathe and I'm not active. I'm encouraged to hear that end stage is not the end. I don't take any vaccinations (jabs). I don't believe they do any good and are likely poisonous.
Im stage 3/4 at 35. Fev1 score of 30%. Ive been hospitalised already because of it. Im so scared to die tge way i no i probably will. Gasping like a fish out of water ans getting no benefit from it.
