Not all fighting games work the same. Not all characters work the same. In T7 the only fighting game I really play, some characters can buffer moves while blocking and others can't depending on what move it specifically is. But in general holding block overrides facebutton fat fingers in that game. Phil fat fingered a button, but he was still holding block, and that's not consistent from fightin game to fighting game.
Thing is about DSP is that it's never him just being bad at the game that we make fun of. It's the fact that he will almost never admit fault. His slow reflexes simply cannot keep up with him, so in his fantasy world everything he does is the optimal thing to do and he's never the one making mistakes. That and his country sized ego. He simply cannot admit to being bad. He can't handle that idea. Being bad at something is fine. Fooling yourself into thinking you're not bad at something is just funny.
DSP's EVO 2005 stat hits a lot softer when you realize that a lot of players, especially American players, skipped that year's Super Turbo bracket due to the port's quality.

IMO, DSP isn't the worst player we've ever seen. He can get the moves out and I'm sure if we met online he'd wipe the floor with me. But as an observer what I'm seeing isn't a lack of mechanical skill, but rather a lack of creativity. He gets himself into patterns and is completely unwilling or unable to adjust his game plan once he's settled on something that works. That and his general attitude around wins vs losses are his greatest weaknesses. I feel like I learned a lot from this video. I appreciate your openness and willingness to give advice.
No one who's tried being nice with DSP has got anything out of it but a place to stay under the bus. Inevitably you'll become his enemy, see how long it takes this time.
Awesome video, man. Really cool analysis of DSP's gameplay. There is a chance he might watch this video and who knows, maybe take some of the advice to heart. I highly doubt it though.
Bad net code dood. Missed input dood. Online mechanics dood. Lag switch dood. DSP you are just not smart or mentally sharp enough to be anything more than a below average gamer even though this is your career.
Likely fake positivity and clout chasing. Anytime DSP encounters a "pro player" he becomes the hello fellow kids meme. It's textbook megalomania, he thinks he's a top level pro and only other top level pros should talk with him. The whiplash when he insults people on stream only to find out they're known players and changing his tune entirely is funny af tho. Chris G was just another mashing unimpressive scrub doing unskilled nonsense being carried by an overpowered character, until DSP was informed who it was and the story changed fast.

DSP is that magic level of competence: where he's enough to win but not know really why and also not enough to know why he loses and how to improve on it.
To be clear: DSP was the highest placing AMERICAN at an evo where they played the neo geo version of sf2 which was not highly regarded by pros at the time. Many big names at the time such as Alex Valle wouldn't attend the tournament for this reason among others.
@@imshail not saying that this is the only reason he welcomes it but most of the reason people know of DSP these days is because they see clips of him raging. With the mindset of “any exposure is good exposure” I can see why he is so open to letting people post clips of him.

Replay analysis of these viral clips taught me a lot. I’m new to fighters and find DSP & LTG rage clips funny, but rarely know better approaches or anything close to constructive criticism. Great job. Please make more.
So the EVO win. It should be noted that during that tournament a lot of players backed out because of the port quality. That being said, DSP was still pretty decent at SF2. Main problem with him is: 1. He is a notorious masher 2. He gets really crabby over everything 3. Hes got an ego even though he says he doesnt. 4. He refuses to learn. I have watched this man buy three versions of this game, two controllers and a PC to protect his ego only to lose to the same "flow chart" Cammy
Using stuff like this to educate is super big brain and I appreciate it. If you ever heard of 'is it imba or do I suck' from Harstem for starcraft 2, it gives me that same feel. Education that is clearly about gameplay, but is also about attitude without having to say it. Tldr, I like it haha.
Thank you very much for the instructional video! Your videos have been a key part in helping me learn the game. I've been away from fighting games for like 15 years, but SF6 is the first fighting game I've ever wanted to really get good at. I placed in Gold II for Ranked, and I'm starting my upward climb. It's been my goal to try to break into Platinum, even though developing my execution is a slow burn (it took me two weeks to be able to reliably use any of Cammy's combos in an actual match. But now I've gone from losing to everyone to beating Platinum players fairly regularly). Videos like these are really helping add to my toolbox of things to work on and look for, and thereby point me in the right direction for improving. Thanks again!
Also, the advice to take a breath/walk when you're tilting is easily the best lesson for anyone to learn, in my mind. The second I start to feel annoyance, I stop queueing and do something to refresh myself. Even if that means I don't come back until the next day. Otherwise, it's inevitably a downward spiral.
This is such an interesting idea for an analysis style video; watching back replays from one of the biggest salt magnets in the scene and actually giving it a thorough look to see if there's some truth behind the tidal wave of complaining. I feel like in some cases the things being shouted about are things many of us may have, or still do rage about because we lack the information about them. The edits to break down the situations, and offer solutions or explanations, is a great touch.
Man I hate when don’t add the the context to “dsp being in top 5 in street fighter 2” ya I would be top 5 too if I was play a game or a version of the game that other pro weren’t playing
On your spare time maybe you could watch the whole sidescrollers incident. Someone who was giving dsp a fair shake, who tried to help him, wanted to help him, wanted what was best for him became dsp's enemy. Dsp started trashing the guy, his show and the people he worked with because he for some reason felt slighted. He stirred up all kinds of nonsense. Made a huge deal out of nothing and he recently brought one of the guys up and trashed him again. And before dsp felt slighted he was a nice guy. Said nice things. Defended sidescrollers and the people on that channel from his supporters then just like that he showed his true colors. All because he felt wronged in some way. When he did a reaction video about sidescrollers he skipped through the video so he could find things he didn't like that was said about him then complained about it.
DSP's problem is not his controller, he uses a joystick. He's a button masher, you can literally hear him mashing buttons while he's exclaiming "I was blocking!" or "I was doing nothing!" (and you could also see it in his inputs). He also doesn't bother to learn and understand Drive Impact beyond using it because its in the game. Also, just a warning: the moment your video garners him negative attention, he will immediately blame you and your fans. DSP has a very fragile ego and I can guarantee you 100% that this will happen (if it hasn't already).
Great video. I love that you showed so many clips of relevant examples while talking about the advice. Never seen this much effort put into fgc content. Good stuff 👍
This is exactly how you should handle DSP: Objectively look at what he does, comment fairly, and don't allow to him flip and spin things to be about his haters. Well done. He's already trying to turn this into drama about haters, but that's best left ignored.
You would have a better chance of keeping the sun from rising in the morning then finding a way to keep DSP from finding a way to blame his haters for something.

@heresyourproblem9939 dog he's been playing street fighter for actually more than a decade he doesn't have that excuse
@@SM4SH3R More than 2 decades.

Predating EVO.
Props for keeping it classy and educational, good stuff Diaphone. Also that description lmao
true but if dsp will probably not accept this criticism, especially from a younger player
DSP's EVO 2005 stat hits a lot softer when you realize that a lot of players, especially American players, skipped that year's Super Turbo bracket due to the port's quality.
Don't worry guys, DSP will SURELY hit his TRUE PEAK form when SF7 drops! :)
Oh, he'll hit the summit alright... he'll crest... maybe even peak.

If they port sf 7 to neo Geo, he for sure will get 4th place
That's too much work. Phil wants to get to masters but doesn't want to put in the effort.
DSP expects every new Street Fighter to play exactly like ST and if it doesn't, he'll complain.
I probably complain as much as him when I play fighting games. I'm guessing you do too. It's part of the process :)

This video is amazing, I've been complaining about almost all the things that guy complains about, so it really makes you realize about the things that should be improved, instead of just saying: "get good".
the type of person that just says "get good" isn't the type of person that actually wants to help anyone. in fact, they are the type to want the actual opposite so they can keep winning

Thanks Diaphone, if this kind of stuff gets to dsp, the walls must be really crumbling! We need more of this, just imagine in a couple months that pinned comment is going to be prophetic. SNORT
Did DSP delete his comment that was pinned? LMAO
I hope someone brings it up during his pre stream so he has to acknowledge it lmfaoooo. I would love to see him in person and get his autograph the legendary pig roach.
What was his comment
IMO, DSP isn't the worst player we've ever seen. He can get the moves out and I'm sure if we met online he'd wipe the floor with me.
But as an observer what I'm seeing isn't a lack of mechanical skill, but rather a lack of creativity. He gets himself into patterns and is completely unwilling or unable to adjust his game plan once he's settled on something that works. That and his general attitude around wins vs losses are his greatest weaknesses.
I feel like I learned a lot from this video. I appreciate your openness and willingness to give advice.
I would like to see a breakdown of LTG's gameplay. Good and informative video
Funny thing is DSP can actually be reasonable some times, LTG cannot.
People hate LTG more than DSP, i wonder why? 😏
DSP Has been stuck trying to play SF2 every street fighter since the 90s.
Dood, I need to pull more Hogans in WWE Champions
If Diaphone is getting worked up watching this man I can’t imagine anyone else lol
Welcome to the detractorverse, in DSP's small brain "everyone is troll if they're telling me how to play".
No one who's tried being nice with DSP has got anything out of it but a place to stay under the bus. Inevitably you'll become his enemy, see how long it takes this time.
I really enjoyed the match analysis. it wasn't just the break down, but the suggestions that I found most useful.
Someone from the wwe champions community should analyze DownFromTheRafters next

Awesome video, man. Really cool analysis of DSP's gameplay. There is a chance he might watch this video and who knows, maybe take some of the advice to heart. I highly doubt it though.
Dsp been crying "i didnt press anything" for around 15yrs or more now.... it's amazing.
Bad net code dood. Missed input dood. Online mechanics dood. Lag switch dood. DSP you are just not smart or mentally sharp enough to be anything more than a below average gamer even though this is your career.

he pays good money not to be around that stuff dood
It’s a HOA for a reason buddy!!!!!!
This was a good idea for a video. I am glad that you did this!
Its the guy
GOATED comment 😂
At any time, he can pick up a controller and play any game at a professional level.
If DSP sees this video I guarantee he'd call you an idiot.

@@kidflim5957 Hi Kid! 😘
This was very fun and informative. Been REALLY enjoying your content.
DSP is that magic level of competence: where he's enough to win but not know really why and also not enough to know why he loses and how to improve on it.
Very refreshing viewpoint and analysis to DSP. You don't see these very much. Awesome video.
To be clear: DSP was the highest placing AMERICAN at an evo where they played the neo geo version of sf2 which was not highly regarded by pros at the time. Many big names at the time such as Alex Valle wouldn't attend the tournament for this reason among others.
Watch a replay with inputs shown and you'll see the "dropped movies/I was blawkhing/ I didn''t do anything" narrative crumble on itself.

The fact that dsp was 100% ok with you using his content was actually suprisingly wholesome

this is the most wholesome video ive seen in a longtime and alot of effort for someone who can't listen to anyone but himself but kudos on the effort and presentation man im sure other players will be able to reflect on it in their own gameplay
Main problem with him is:
1. He is a notorious masher
2. He gets really crabby over everything
We need someone to review his WWE Champions footage 😉
This is a great way of teaching things. I learned a lot from this video.
We need more people like you to analyze his play style! 😅
I personally have issues with anger and videogames, so seeing you break down similar reactions to mine is really eye opening. Great video.
This is the first time I have EVER seen someone critique DSP on this level. Now I can understand what he's doing wrong! Thank you!
Dsp rage quit comment
Great video. I love that you showed so many clips of relevant examples while talking about the advice. Never seen this much effort put into fgc content. Good stuff 👍
Can't wait for DSP to get pissed at him and call Diaphone a bunch of rude names in like a week
really appreciate you putting in what he should be doing vs what hes doing , its really helpful for us non-SF players :D
This is the exact style of video i wanted to do, but you beat me to it :D Good stuff
It’s worth noting that DSP placed so well at that Evo because a ton of top-level American players didn’t attend
Edit: Real as hell of Diaphone to donate to DSP and ask if it was cool to make this video

Just a heads up, on DSP’s SF6 profile, he has 60+ hours on Ranked and only 7 in practice.
