Booing means they enjoyed him as a villain! He's playing the bad guy, and the audience boo him because he was good at it. When I went a few days ago, we all booed Scar when he took his bow, but we were clapping at the same time. It's a sort of panto thing, I think - the audience is acknowledging that he was a villain, but also that he was a good actor in that. And he knows that that is what the booing means. So it's not actually an insult!
Actually i didnt do that in lion king but i did it in matilda
lol same
I recently attended the London performance. George was a wonderful villain and yes he was booed by some in the audience. I noticed he smiled a small satisfied smile to himself as he knew he did a good job as Scar. If you ever get a chance to see the show, do go. It was fantastic, all the actors were amazing and the show was a highlight of our visit to the UK. Thanks, George! You were awesome.
"I've got some children to scare." XD
a boo is the best compliment for an actor who plays the bad guy ;) means he had done his job great :)
we boo at Clayton in Disney´s Tarzan (currently in Hamburg/Germany) as well ;) and he loves it ^^
Be Prepared!!
This musical is great :D Scar is the best villain.
Christopher Garabedian English?
Scar is my all time favorite Disney villain.
I've Been To See Disney's The Lion King At London's Lyceum Theatre 7 Times And It Was Awesome. It Was The Longest Running Disney Musical In London's West End. Thanks Mate. X
i loved scar's movements in the play its like he lets the mask control him not the other way around :)
I have been blessed enough to see this show including both in NYC and the West End. I have seen it all over the place here in the US including once with Garth Fagan in the audience. I fall in love with show even more each time I see it and looking forward to my 16th show this spring.
I never would have guessed it was mechanical. I always thought it was a weight mechanism. Brilliant.
a what???
0:39 I've Had Met George Asprey Who Played Scar From Disney's The Lion King The Broadway Musical At London's Lyceum Theatre And Signed His Audiograph In Disney In The West End Pop Up In London Back In August 2018 Just Before New York City In The United States Of America In Time For Disney's Frozen The Musical's World Premiere At Broadway's St James Theatre In November 2018. George's right! Playing the villain is fun! I know.
I saw this guy three weeks ago. Amazing.
I saw the show on Wednesday and my mind was blow, he is absolutely brilliant! We had a group of children in the audience, not far from us and I felt so bad when they booed him, but it seems that he's used to it :')
I cheered extra hard tho, he deserves it!
Paddy Black actors feel good when that happens because he knows he then made an illusion of Being a bad guy
george asprey is my favourite scar he gives such a fantastic evil performance in the london production

He gave a very good performance as Scar. During the show, his way of speech reminded me of the Grinch. Don't know if anyone thought the same.

Going to go see the Lion King in Edinburgh again this year. Seen it last time it was in Edinburgh. This time I have a t shirt for it, it has a picture of Scar, Shenzi, Banzai & Ed & it says "I'm surrounded by idiots" on it. Scar & Ed are my faves.
I loved that that good play
This is so cool! Thanks!
I’ve always always always always always always always always wanted to play scar again my favourite Lion King character it would just be so fun to be evil
When I went Me and my family were the only people who actually cheered for scar cause he a great actor
It's unbelievable that this was posted almost 10 years ago
who in the world Boos at an actor after the bows?
i love Scar
Its common in the UK because of the tradition of pantomime. The panto villain will usually get booed at the end during the curtain call purely because both the actor and the audience know that its all part of the fun. Actors who are playing the villain will usually take booing during the curtain call as a compliment that they have played the villain well.
+JG010491 Oh.. good to know ':D When I was in London 2 months ago and watched Lion King and everyone booed I just thought "Are you all mad!?!?!?" I was kinda angry... but ok :D
When I saw The Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre, nobody booed Scar when he took his bow. He actually got one of the biggest rounds of applause, along with Nala and Simba.
JG010491 I boo cause im still Iń my feelings

When I saw this in London and when everyone booed Scar when he was bowing, Scar just looked up and started growling at the audience.
George Asprey The Guy Who Played Scar From Disney's The Lion King Thinks He Looks Like Darth Vader From Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope. X

I'd get worry about him getting sick in that costume. I hope maybe the material can be switched out for lighting things someday. I'm sure improvements will be made more.
Villains are way better then bad guys. Their stories are more complex and they could have thousands of reasons behind their actions.
i hope my sons dream will come true as young simba andscar is the best villan
i hope my dream comes true to play scar in lion king one day

I didn't boo for Scar I clapped the loudest for him
Even though Aladdin is on broadway my friend said abu , Iago and rajah weren’t in it but they should have put them in it by using these sort of puppets
I wish The Lion King Broadway will it be in the movie
OMG I had no idea the makeup for my role of Scar was exactly like Broadway
Anyone thinks he looks like the guy from we are number one???????
Rest In Piece Robbie Rotten.
Ill be on broadway one day!! woot lol
It doesn't matter the color of anybody skin at all & utube our sis Kimberelly Scott we are one & I agree & the lionking we are one part2ending & God spoke & I understood & the lionking wins best new awards & our sis Julie Tamor wins best director awards
This Is A Job For International Rescue. Thunderbirds Are GO. Crossover Between Disney's The Lion King And Gerry Anderson's Thunderbirds. X
Depends on point of view. If you boo him while he's playing, it's rude, because you should shut your mouth during the performance, but it would be directed to the character. However, at the end when they bow, he is out of character, so with booing/clapping you don't "judge" the character, you do so with the actor, the performance itself.
Is it alright with yall if I could come up on the stage with yall at the end
I might be Scar or Zazu in the play I think I am Scar pray for me Please
scar is a man
Shel Sparkle in most jr. Version scar is portraied as a girl i dont know why. I guess they want more roles for women
@@devotedcetacean6568 yah ur right I'm a male irl and I'm scar btw I'm 10
LetrellDisney Games I was cast as scar in the jr version but I never thought that he was portrayed as a female. (Btw I am female)
Did you get it 😂? (Replying 3 years later)
Lyceum Theatre, London, or many other productions around the globe...
i have one of yall coller lionking on brodway shirt
Technically he has the most stage time, because the actors for Mufasa and young Simba only shows up at the first half and adult Simba, Timon and Pumbaa is only there for the second half.
Nice:)
I wish I could be Nala.
lol it'd been funny if his tail got caught on the way out, XD
Just went yesterday
@ingrid98R mine too. he is a true diva! lol
I think it's really rude of people boo when he's bowing. Every actor deserves a big round of applause when they're doing their bows. Surely the audience is able to understand that he's just acting the role of the bad guy.
@Broadwaygirl01 DUN DUN DUN!
@halloween1985 they probably aren't going to release a dvd of the show until it is off broadway because will watching a dvd of the show be as magical as when u actually saw it???..... no. so probably not for a long, long time i'm assuming.
utube our sis Kimberely Scott we are one & i agree & the lionking we are one part2 ending & God spoke & i understood
Yall can see my new photos & our fam videos & I am 32 years old & I will be 33 years old on feb18th
😂❤❤
13 and dreaming.
PLEASE LET THIS BE ME!!!!!!
2:55 whats the name of this music?
Former Leader of the Lion Guard.
I just wish some day that I will be rafiki
🇳🇬
just a heads up if you didn't know Rafici is always played by a south african
He sounds dangerously like Murdoc
yeah i am dicrcting the school musical
utube our sis kimberely Scott we are one & i agree
Surely the hyena costumes would be harder? They are hunched & on all fours a lot of the time.
