- Here is an update on my camallanus worm outbreak in my fish room. I first started using fenbendazole for treatment but recently switched to levamisole due to the fenbendazole not working.

I’ve used levamisole a few times. I have used it in raw form and also with a product that Fritz puts out called Expel P. Both work at battling Parasites 👌🏼
Did you have any scaleless fish like catfish in the tank when you treated the tank? I have synodontis catfish in my infected tank. I also want to give a big thank you for the awesome video. I wouldn’t have known this was the issue.
I did not have any scaleless fish with this treatment and I’m unsure if you can use it with scaleless fish. I did a quick Google search and found mixed results. Unfortunately, you really have no choice but to try it. The syno can be infected and not have any symptoms yet. I’m coming out with a new video on how to treat for this parasite soon. Using levamisole is 10x better than fenbendazole.
Thank you for sharing your experiences, I’m serious, this info is very useful to keep in mind
Is the black arowana u have going to turn completely black or no
No, Black Arowana have black or blueish fins with silver bodies. They are typically more peaceful and have less health issues than Silver Arowana
@@LongIslandFishGuy thank u
Thank u so much for this video !!
I need to deworm with levamisol soon. I have some on hand and will be doing it in a week.
Good luck!
Can someone please answer my question? Why is my guppy’s poop clear? What can I use for treatment please respond fast I’m very worried.
What do you feed it? Flakes? It’s it just clear/white or is it long and stringy too?
@@LongIslandFishGuy I feed my guppies a varied diet. I feed them flakes, brine shrimp but rarely bloodworms. Their poop is clear and they are mostly staying at the top. Some of them stay at the top while others still swim around. Their poop is clear and It’s long. I don’t have a tank to quarantine some of them in at the moment what should I do?
I would use something like levamisole or General Cure to treat for internal parasites
@@LongIslandFishGuy Ok, thanks I’ll try it out.
Keep us updated brother
Can’t wait for more vids
dissolve Fenbendazole with DMSO and soak with fish food......
Good luck
What is the concentration of Levamizole do you use?
Message me on Instagram - I’ll send you a chart to follow
Good progress, keep it up 👍
My Bolivian Ram has camallanus... lots of red worms... so sad. Got medication from vet today... have dosed up all 3 tanks to be sure but from what ive read the ram with red worms doesnt have much chance. So sad. Should i be adding safe guard stuff you mentioned?
Im new to fish... just got given tanks and fish from neice 3 weeks ago who is moving... i also got camallanus worms!!!!
Camallanus are a pain in the fishes butt.. Im guessing you need to go bare bottom and vacuum all the parasites up paralysed or not. I'm guessing they will continue the cycle otherwise?
What’s the link for the wormer levamisole. Can’t seem to find anywhere to purchase! Thanks
This is what I used: amzn.to/3gwbIBs
@@LongIslandFishGuy thank man I ordered it and also a scale to measure. I’ve got Bolivians with a big angelfish and also my tire track eel together. Have tried tirelessly to irradiate the worms but they seem to survive it all. Not an option to euthanize so this will be my last ditch effort. Super bummed man. I’ve had these fish from day one of keeping an aquarium! Thank you for your help
Select Aquatics/Greg Sage sells Levamisole pre measured
Fenbendazole finally worked for me once I found the right recipe. I had to buy this stuff called FOCUS it binds the medication. To the food. And I added epsom salt to my food mixture (blood worms frozen brine shrimp) and finally started seeing results within 24 hours. I would say I got 1/2 of my guppies that no longer show signs of these worms .. im hoping it will work for the rest in the tank in the next few days.
Can you share the recipe I ordered fendendazole after watching his first video an hour ago now I hear it doesn’t work so I’m heart broken my 55 gallon has lost like 25-30 fish and the link to the meds on Amazon ain’t working ?
@@olfieragecorpse5838 same with me I lost a lot of fish and took like 6 months to find a cure. He wasn’t any help to me either. LEVAMISOLE is what u need and it’s light sensitive I believe so I left my lights off for two days unless feeding I did another treatment in a week or so. Gut the tank of all rocks keep bare bottom for few months SO to make sure u can see any worms or eggs if they’re bak. I had to get pig dewormer to get LEVAMISOLE.
@@corineskipper1919 can u give me a link to the pig dewormer all I can find was expel p 🥺bless ur fish
Look up Prohibit Levamisole. I need to make an updated video but that’s what worked for me
@@olfieragecorpse5838 what is the medicine in the expel?
This is crazy so from what I’m getting you can do everything right and this still can happen to you ? Best of luck I just moved from Ridge to Columbia SC I keep large fish Datnoids bass bichir and jack Dempsey’s and I made two trips just to keep them .I couldn’t imagine having this happen I don’t know what I’d do .
You can say that again! I always QT new fish. These parasites will NOT be eradicated with your every day internal parasite medication. But you KNOW what is going to be in my new quarantine process 😅 You’re always learning in this hobby!
@@LongIslandFishGuy that’s for sure . Paraguard is a great medicine too I’m surprised it doesn’t effect those worms . Are you getting the 220 new or used ? I’m curious because I gave mine away to someone who works at aquahut when I moved in Feb . I only took my 8ft 300 gallon and a 90 gallon grow out but with the price of tanks skyrocketing I’m kicking myself right now . Would be funny if it were my old tank you were getting .
@@LongIslandFishGuy Is it okay to dose a QT tank with levamisole even if I dont know if they have them or not? I already had to treat my main tank for them and I dont wanna add new fish in there without being 100% sure they are clear. I have the new fish sitting in a QT tank and levamisole left over from my main tank.
I’m getting the tank new
Levamisole is a great treatment even as a preventative. I would say go ahead and use it on your QT tank!
Hey thanks for this video. can you share your dosage? My tanks are infected and I’m struggling to find doses
DM me on IG @longislandfishguy
Hi did the lebendazole work?
Happy intro here we have dead fish
Hey how’s your red wolf doing?
He’s doing well! Didn’t realize it wasn’t on video but it was pretty unaffected by the camallanus (thankfully!)
@@LongIslandFishGuy awesome, i have a hoplias malabaricus. Really thinking about getting a red
@@jthinnbeats6384 They’re definitely a “community wolf fish”. Not as aggressive as I first thought that it was going to be.
Levamisole will help the fish pass the worms. This may help improve the treatment survival rate but won't eliminate the problem.
I've had success mixing fenbendazole (panacur c) with not quite boiling water in a disposable bottle. It does take a while to see the effects, as I understand it the drug messes with invertebrates metabolism and basically starves the adult worms to death.
Worms suck. It wasn't horrible enough to get me out of the hobby but it sure killed my multi-tank syndrome!
Levamisole affects the neurotransmitters and paralyzes the parasite. The fish then passes the inactive parasites that need to be gravel vacuumed or will pass on their own. They will not reproduce after the paralysis kicks in.
I still need to make the video about it, but levamisole is what I used to treat my tanks and helped save my entire fish room. Nothing else worked, and trust me! I tried everything!
@@LongIslandFishGuy
Glad it's working! Like I said, I've found levamisole helps improve survival (particularly in small fish) but I had to use both to get rid of my infestation.
Its been awhile since I watched the first video, how much fenbendazole did you use for the initial treatment? I've used 1g of panacur c per 10 gallons. Turns the water milky but doesn't seem to hurt healthy fish at all. At that dose it annihilates pest snails, too.
I’m not sure what the dosing was for the fenbendazole. I unfortunately have had camallanus twice now and Fenbendazole didn’t work either time and I’ve used it many different ways and from different companies. I think that it’s hit or miss depending on the type of camallanus you get, I believe there’s like 4 different species
Oh jeez 😳
