He’s a tough dude, staying with it to the end even though he was suffering from the heat glad he came through ok in the end. He’s always been one of my favorites- such charisma and energy.
Watching the camera shots of AJ in the last few laps was excruciating. And I was just sitting at home, not trying to win a race in the terrible conditions that AJ was in. What a Herculian effort. SO glad to see that AJ is OK. He is one tough dude. Congrats on Saturday's win AJ.
His crew should have brought him in. A win isn’t worth dying of a heat stroke. AJ isn’t going to come in of his own decision. Like a boxer sometimes needs his corner to throw in the towel before he takes too much damage, AJ needed someone to do the same for him. I’m glad he is ok, but this could cost a man his life. Not trying to be critical, but it’s something that isn’t usually thought of in this sport, and maybe should be. Be proactive rather than reactive.
Last week in Iowa Josef Newgarden reported trouble with the cool shirt and then fainted after being released from the care center after his crash. AJ was clearly in trouble. Severe dehydration and overheating can cause cardiac arrest. Both NASCAR and Indycar need to come up with protocols for when a driver is having water supply or overheating issues. I think AJ should have been black flagged for his own safety.
what the heck does that even mean? He is not allowed to report that his cool shirt isn't working? He can't report that he is out of water? He can't open the visor for some relieve? Dude his whole reason for being there is to drive, win the race. Don't take points away and a chance to win by blackflagging the man. It is not like he was swerving all over the place or riding around in 1st gear.
Why is everyone making this out to be a big deal? My god they did this back in the day where there was no type of cooling helmets or suits just raw heat...
Your comment shows how little you know and understand. Interior temps are much higher with these modern cars, not to mention the G loads today vs 20+ years ago. Having personally raced in a modern GT3 car with no cool suit or AC system, I can tell you it doesn't compare to any of the stuff in the old days. More load on the drivers and cars that are much more aero efficient and sealed off, make the temps insane...
Gen 4 was the last car that was all metal. Since then these cars use energy absorbtion foam (insulator) and now this generation has insulating foam + a Carbon composite body. The older cars at least could dissipate some heat into the body and the outside air. These newer ones are literal ovens
Because these cars are way, way hotter than the old cars were. No heat transfer, they just cook. Stop trying to make everyone in modern times seem weaker than guys "back in the day," often enough, that just isn't the case.
@@keithclark486 honest truth to their question is thats how drives leave the race with their teams logo or sponsor on a jacket, but seriously great explanation dude, Lol! 🤣
It irks me to no end that Nascar knew he was out of water & his cooling suit wasn’t working. His eyes told the story of dehydration. Which should result in the ASMR team to be dispatched to AJ’s car immediately after the race ends. This isn’t the 1st time this has happened where a driver has to wait on Medical for dehydration after a Race
Glad he's in better shape, seeing him fall out of the car/catch himself on the wall was rough to watch. I'm not sure what the fix is for something like this short of parking under red until the driver gets the extra layers off, but that doesn't seem likely
It's a damn shame that a trooper like AJ can't get a full-time ride in Cup but Bubba Wallace does. Maybe AJ should have borrowed Bubba's "I can't breathe" tee-shirt bc I'm sure in AJ'S case it was true.
AJ has been doing a great job. These stupid new car's are a freaking disaster. Brake's failing , wheels and tires are trash. Heat inside these things are stupid Hot 🔥
If you want to simulate this wear a winter coat, snow pants and drive with the heater on and the windows up when it's 80-95 outside. Extra points for not drinking water.
The volume levels on this video are really bad. I had to turn my volume up pretty far to hear what he was saying, then the outro played and blasted my speakers. Good video, just a little extra in post, especially in the audio leveling.
GLAD YER DOING OKEY AJ…! LOOK AT THE BRIGHT SIDE MY FRIEND…IT COULD HAVE BEEN THE DAYTONA 500 WHEN YOU WERE LEADING THE RACE..! IM SURE YOUR GUYS WILL FIGURE OUT A WAY TO KEEP IT FROM POSSIBLY HAPPENING AGIAN.. SO GLAD TO SEE YOU REAL COMPETITIVE THIS YEAR WITHOUT OVER DRIVING THE CAR…!
@@shirleypoplo7715 yeah for sure I work out in the heat all day doing construction and it’s brutal. I’ve been close to having heat strokes before but never like what aj had
The volume discrepancy between the interview and your outro are horrible. Just a friendly request, please level your audio on your video's from start to finish. My dog is having a nervous breakdown.(loud noises) lol. Thanks for the coverage. 🔊📢
Aj would have crashed the field if he had been healthy on the restart. He is too aggressive in final laps. Xfinity it's not fun he is to old, there should be a limit like nascar drivers get 5 xfinity, over 35 get 5:races.
I know it’s tough AJ but don’t forget ur earning ur way back into fans hearts. Your fault or not u got suspended from nascar and fans need u to be compassionate and appreciative just to get ur name righted.
The shots of his face with his visor up on that last yellow…told me all I needed to know. Looked brutal. Glad to see he him chipper in that interview.
I thought he was going to pass out. It was scary. His eyes were rolling back.
fiquei preocupada ao vê-lo com a viseira levantada, parecia que estava pedindo socorro e a gente não podia fazer nada.
He’s a tough dude, staying with it to the end even though he was suffering from the heat glad he came through ok in the end. He’s always been one of my favorites- such charisma and energy.
AJs my new favorite. What he accomplished this weekend is absolutely 💯 badass
If you think that, he got a Top 10 without power steering
I was at the race in Portland when he was able to come from the back 3 times 4 the W in the rain.
Please do away with the loud race noise at the closing.
Glad you're ok AJ. I can tell you from personal experience heat exhaustion/stroke are nothing to fuck with.
Neither is Wu Tang Clan
Under those conditions, that was an outstanding effort!!
Man i felt bad for the dude, glad hes feeling better. Hes one hell of a guy
Glad he's ok. I like AJ he's a stand up old school taught racer.

In the 1960s...drivers didn't have cool suits or power steering
Or even radios.
ok, boomer
Many also died in their prime back then.
AJ, YOUR A TUFF MAN, ALWAYS HAPPY TO WATCH YOU
*You’re

Think if he would have won. It would have been like when Ricky Rudd won Martinsville years ago.

Whatever
This is honestly part of racing. Essier said than done though
People DO die from heat, some dipsh-ts DONT get it !!!
KB asked for a bag of ice during a pit stop, AJ could have done the same.
His Team owner said on the radio, come in and get out of the car its not worth it. But he stayed in the car.
INDY car driver Carl Scarborough had died of heat exhaustion back in the 50's. Glad AJ is ok.
Indianapolis just need to light up the whole racing area and let's run after the sun goes down!!
Underrated driver
Did they have cool shirts back in the day? Ya, didn't think so.

My question is why is he wearing a jacket now?
God I wish you guys would fix the variable audio levels. About blew my speakers out at the end!

Back then they pretty much raced with the windows down too or no nets even
why is he wearing a jacket????
Either the zipper got stuck or the instructions on how to unzip it is inside the jacket ' more than likely the last one.

Overheated but yet doing interview with a jacket on 🤦

Right? like dude collapsed crawling out of his car and not a safety member in sight
I like your vids, but my speakers at the end....balance the audio please
You could see it in his face on that last yellow. Tougher man than I .
I wish they were doing the oval again this race sucked

Just glad he is okay. Nascar should mandate and invest technology into cooling the driver.
Getting out of that hot car today probably felt as good as his win yesterday
That's a man right there 💪🏻
Glad he’s ok.
AJ is a dawg the guy is tough as nails
I will be rooting for him.
👏👏👏 There's my guy!
And after all that, he *still* got a solid Top 10 finish.

Know it was hot in that car but you did great job
AJ has been doing a great job.

awe you all feel sorry he was hot while doing his dream job. Try doing a job Every Day in 100+ degree weather like millions of Americans do.
Man that had to be brutal. Glad the Dinger is ok!
Happy he's ok happy all are ok after those crashes today but hey hats off to NASCAR to throwing such great cautions they were amazing at it wow!
He is a stud
Ask him about how badass he was out there, these questions felt robotic and unprepared, he wasn't into it at all.
Single file restart on road courses would cure a lot of the BS
Respect

Wish he would have had more of a chance to fight for a win that last restart.
Toughest part of racing
AJ’s a tough SOB !!!!
Will not be watching this channel anymore, the blaring cars at the end allways make me jump and I need back surgery. No more.
AJ is a badass.
I'm just glad he's alright. My Frog Tog saves my life!! My cooling towel.
I like you AJ but Blaney didn't shove you off track. Spinning him was rildiculous.
With all the Technology for the Cars, NASCAR should be ashamed this is still a Problem. COME ON NASCAR STEP UP!! Spend some money 💰!!!
interview was good but fix your audio!
I was concerned about him as he exited his car.
Yeah , it had to be a tough race but " The DINGER " is the only one I've heard bellyaching about it so far.. suck it up buttercup...
Hope he's alright
He looked terrible before the last restart.
@@randyphillips1029 He sure did.

Gee Wally. How did the real race car drivers back in the day ever finish a race? Without all the crap todays entertainers have? Amazing.
He has a coat on...wtf
Sorry never been a fan of him always come off as a jerk glad he ok though 😐
That was ridiculous! Take of your I!

Hey. The ending clip to your video is super loud and annoying. Not a fan.
We could see it in your eyes how brutal it was. How many pounds did you loose in the race brother 🤔 👍🏁
