I've seen a lot of EA/2k golf videos, and this is probably the best I've found. First, it's not patronizing like most of the other ones. And second, come on it's a Scottish person! It's a law of nature. When anyone from Scotland (or New Zealand) explains golf to you, you'd better listen they know what they're talking about! P.S. As far as the 1yd=3ft conversion, for everyone in Europe, 10 feet = 3m so 1 yard = 0.914m. Don't you love our awesome measurement system? 🤣
I found this video today trying to figure out how to dial in my yardages after maxing out all my approach skills and my goodness has this made all the difference! Thank you for this!
I love your videos, great infos all the time! Thanks for your work! Would it be possible to have an updated video on wind calculation? I mean distance affects the calculation (further shorts will be affected more by the wind than closer shots). Also, a topic that no one talks about... How to calculate diagonal winds? N-E, S-W, etc. Finally, do you calculate differently facing the wind or the wind in your back? Thanks again for all your work!
Bro, this Video helped me a lot to understand the Game... After this years Masters i tought to play this game and after that video, it is more funny thx
@Early1981 jusr played a round on Oak Hill, im still overshooting but not as much.i think I need to work on my tempo as I hardly ever hit a perfect. I also need to practice on lofted shots
Very helpful, thanks! I'm new to this and I'm really confused as to why the trees and grass don't show any wind movement at all, even when the wind is strong. That's a big disappointment, how could they leave that out?!
The wind doesn’t affect the knockdown as much as an approach or finesse shot. I play mainly by feel but for example if I’ve got 120 yards to the pin into a 10pmph wind I’d be looking for a knockdown shot that goes roughly 132 yards or close to it
Thanks for the tutorial. I really struggle with elevation and wind adjustments. Regarding the 2nd (8:01) Needing a club for 220Y, and a 5i full loft gets you to 250? Would not need a club for 220Y?
Glad it helped! You're not always going to have an ideal yardage for shots. That's when I use the finesse shot and pull the cursor to the required yardage
Another question, do you have to find a club that meets the exact calculated yardage? I notice in this game that approach shots have only fixed distances but with finesse you can dial the distance down to anything you want, so couldn't you take a 190 yard club, change to finesse and put it at exactly 185? Why do some shots allow you to fine tune the distance but others are only 1 fixed distance? Also would you use shaping to fine tune that distance?
If I am in between yardages I use a finesse shot and pull the aim marker to the required yardage I need and yes shot shaping can help fine tune yardage
@@Early1981 Thanks. I always wondered why some shots are available sometimes and others aren't, and why you can move the aim marker on some but not others. Also, the biggest problem I've had with approach shots is the ones that either roll 100 yards all the way across the green and go out the other side, or the opposite, it hits near the hole and then rolls backward all the way off the green. I think draws and fades are better there, no? My reasoning is that they hit at an angle and are less likely to roll straight back. I also like to hit it "into" the slope so if the green's sloping right to left, I'll hit a fade (that's the one that hits the ground going left to right, correct)? How did you get it to backspin like that at 5:30? Was it just the high loft?
I have a question regarding knock down shots and wind, the description says it hits it under the wind but the wind still affects the shot, is this a glitch ?
@@Early1981Agreed. I’m not sure the knockdown shot avoids wind all together as that’s impossible. Like Early said though, it keeps the ball low so that it doesn’t affect it as much. I’d love to see Early do a tutorial on knockdowns though😬😁😅😅😅

Haha brilliant thanks I really appreciate the comment. Yea the metric systems are strange depending on where you come from

That's great news. I'm Glad it was helpful
Thought i had a good system of calculating elevation and wind. Yours is ten times better....cheers.
@@jaymac6831 I’m glad it helps you pal
Right on! Thanks.
I’m glad it helped
When hitting a short iron into the wind, say from 130, and its into the wind 7mph, you can be sure to play it at 140. The wind eats up the short irons
Good call out. And as wind levels increase, the ratio of 1:1 becomes greater
Your a gentleman and a scholar I have been playing this game for ages and have been terrible this is much needed
Your welcome I hope it helps
@@Early1981 do you do the same calculations for crosswind as well?? And do u have a video on how to put spin and such on the ball??

Awesome video on the subject. Clean clear a d concise
I appreciate that! I'm glad it helped

just picked this up for 12 quid, looks so good
That’s a bargain. Enjoy 👍🏻
That's pretty spot on
Thanks
Hey Early best tutorial video out there. Thanks very much
It's a pleasure
Excellent video. Thank you
Glad you liked it!
Brilliant. Birdies R us over here.

@@Early1981 I actually managed to get the game installed last night and I have to say I love it. I mean I’m rubbish but it’s still great fun
Well I don't know what I am doing but sometimes this seems to work and at other times I hit a club under and the ball just goes flying over the green.
You will get a feel for it
Shame you had the aiming arc on, could have done a crosswind calculation too...
I might do another video with that information
You definitely should!

How do you add backspin it's impossible for me to
Apply back spin and top spin with the left stick of you swing with the right stick. Check out my tutorial videos
how do you get that marker on the swing meter?
I think it's the style of swing meter you use

how do u get that little black line on your swing meter? I have xbox and I don't see it and can't find the setting
I've not changed any settings pal. Maybe a ps5 thing?
So what’s the actual calculations I’m confused.
Is it same calculations when the wind is like 15mph it’s a nightmare
Check the information I put in the video description
I have a question regarding knock down shots and wind, the description says it hits it under the wind but the wind still affects the shot, is this a glitch ?
My experience with the knockdown shot is the wind still affects it but not as much as other shot types
