It’s a fascinating subject isn’t it - I’m always amazed at the level of perseverance and ingenuity people have when they are forced to by their circumstances. Whether it’s women with their stockings or making elastic bands out of old bicycle tires (a trick I read the other day in an extant World War One journal), people can be incredibly resourceful and creative with the little that they have. :)
almost everything we use today that is disposable had a non disposable version somewhere in history, I love hearing about what those historical alternatives where
