Listening to Jordan Peterson makes my brain feel like it's getting a hug from an old friend. He's able to take so many of my brain's philosophical understandings that feel so free floating and disorganized but valuable. He captures those bubbles of philsophical understandings I feel , tames/applies order to them, and then puts them into words. It's amazing. Listening to his words feels like my thoughts and feelings are being both validated and released at the same time.

The greatest mistake of my life was to minimize, excuse away and ignore the early warning signs of my ex husband's evil. Instead of acknowledging what he said and did, I witlessly participated in my near demise by underestimating the power of his actions. I've heard so many women claim, "I don't want to give up my ability to see the good in people" as a reason to ignore the destruction in their relationships, because they love him. I often wonder how so many of us got so unfailingly stupid and naive as to defend evil so willingly. You hear it all the time - people defending murderers and rapists by saying they had a bad childhood. Millions of people had a bad childhood - that's not what causes the willingness to do harm.

Revenge against God. The temptation to take revenge against goodness for allowing evil to be perpetrated against you. It's a terrible human instinct.

It's a natural instinct. When someone hurts you you want to hurt them back. It's reflective and normal reaction. People who forgive to easily are taken advantage of by predators. That's why being good isn't easy.

Without evil we have no heroes.
    Can that be said?
Does there have to be something worth fighting for?
It's satisfying to watch evil being crushed.
    Necessary evil?

Heard somewhere : In the beginning there was only good ( God ). And so God came up with a trick to make things evolve : creates man and woman from matter as opposed to spirit which we were before, so we don't know who we are anymore because separated from God, we have become ignorant, hence fear, hence need to control, then struggle for power, here we have the ingredients for evil to bloom.

"The devil made me do it" ... was the comedian Flip Wilson's quote.
That quote resulted in much laughter by his audience ... but behind the laughter was and is the theory taught by ancient theorists (as being literal truth) that indeed it was the devil that was leading humans to commit evil. And because devotees were so gullible as to believe that nonsense ... people labeled as being evil and full of the devil ... were horribly tortured and burned to death at the stake.
If we keep using that nasty word as having any value in our modern era, we are doing the upcoming generations a terrible disservice … because to point at any other human, or to self as being evil, is just plain wrong.
By faulty information we were lead astray.
We are angry; we are vindictive; we are manipulative; we are brutes; we are torturers; we are murderers … we are damaged … we are pathetic … but from my perspective … we are NOT evil … and neither did any devil ever exist … that encouraged … or … made us … “do it.”
Within his intended context, Flip Wilson’s quote is VERY funny and very ironic … because his underlying message is … “Stop being such fools … by using a devil as your scapegoat … and take responsibility for your own nasty behaviors.”

I suggest that the archaic word “evil” shouldn’t any longer be used in any language.
Evil is a word that signifies that the devil is real and in control of human thought.
Throughout history even house cats were revered as being holy by those in religions and at other times were vilified as being evil by those in religions.
Now, for the most part, there are people who simply don't like cats, or people who are very fond of cats.
The cat never was holy, or evil. The cat was just a self-centered creature of nature, and I suggest that as human animals, we also are simply self-centered creatures of nature, and that the archaic terms evil and holiness are hallucinatory results of overactive human imaginations.
“We are all hallucinating all the time, including right now. It’s just that when we agree about our hallucinations, we call that reality.” Anil Seth … neuroscientist.

We already know moral relativity is very appealing to certain people. That's a nice analogy about the cat but it doesn't explain everything even though you want it to. You just want to avoid the fight because you don't have the moral strength.

    • @junevandermark952
      @junevandermark952 4 месяца назад

@@snarfjohnson2262 Do you believe that "moral strength" is equivalent to common sense?
If you are looking for common sense ... you won't find it on planet earth ... and if there just happens to be an afterlife ... I suggest you don't depend on finding any common sense there either.
For instance ... according to mythology ... God created a soul for the devil ... knowing "ahead of time" that the devil (while in heaven) was going to sin against God. And that means that sin was and is allowed in heaven. So ... the "moral" of that story ... is that if YOU sin after arriving in heaven ... you will end up in hell WITH the devil and his evil helpers.
The confusion of religion itself drove many devotees insane and to suicide.
Thankfully … now that hundreds of members of clergy are leaving religion behind ... there is hope for everyone.
From the book ... Apostle to Apostate: The Story of the Clergy Project … authors … Catherine Dunphy, Richard Dawkins
When you are reared to think of your faith and its leaders as infallible, dissent can be an unsettling thing. This is particularly true for clergy, who have devoted their lives to the subject of faith. I therefore especially hope that this story reaches those clergy who have yet to articulate their doubts.
As they struggle through this process, I am thankful that they can look to the Clergy Project as an example of community and humanism as an example of good. As former clergy who have left churches of every denomination, synagogues, mosques, convents, monasteries, and theological institutions, we stand as examples of the reasonableness of doubt and its thoughtful conclusions. I cannot help but think that we offer a compelling voice for why science and secularism do a better job than religion and superstition of answering the so-called ultimate questions.

God did create perfect universe. It was Created perfect, but Best of the Best angels turns prideful and turns against God and created evil. This was the only way to create perfect world. Its suffering, but It has salvation, it was only way to create perfect universe because of free will.
