  • Scientists at UCLA have put together a gruesome animation from a very realistic 3-D model on what happens to your leg after a gunshot wound. It's the first of its kind.

    I was shot 3x going on 6yrs ago, with a Tech9, the bullets were 9mm hollow points. I was shot in my right thigh, that went in and out. I was shot in the left side of my hip, that bullet broke my hip, hit my spine leaving half a bullet + fragments in me, and I was shot in the left side of my stomach, which resulted in me loosing a LOT of my organs. There's many different parts to a leg. I wonder why people keep asking if you can die from being shot in the leg, like there's not a difference between above or below the knee. If you get shot in the shin, knee or calf, you have a much higher chance of surviving than being shot in the thigh. There's many different parts to the leg.

    • @BloodyKnives66
      @BloodyKnives66 Год назад

      Lay down if you're in a safe place to do so, or get to a safe area first if possible. lay down, (elevate your legs if someone else can apply pressure and lay back), apply pressure immediately either way with or without help apply constant pressure, most likely won't have a tourniquet but apply if you can't stop the bleeding, 2" above the wound apply it, don't go over a joint so if you need to apply it higher up the limb. Applying a tourniquet DOES NOT mean you will definitely lose that limb, as long as you get medical attention.

    Can a person still walk and function regularly if they was to get shot in the leg like that because that’s a lot of damage

    • @kakmaster6945
      @kakmaster6945 2 года назад

      Yes, you could probably walk, unless your bone is literally shattered then your leg would fold over like a matchstick but If your bone was intact as it appears to be in the video you could probably walk, especially under the influence of adrenaline as the pain would not be immediate. There's lots of shootings where a victim is shot in the leg and can run away as if they are fine but others where they fall over pretty much instantly. It all depends on where it hits, and if you feel the pain instantly or later.

    • @BloodyKnives66
      @BloodyKnives66 Год назад

      Dudes shooting with the biggest shotgun slug I've ever seen but real bullets yes you could walk at least try to, to get to a safe area at the least. You have torn muscle, tendons possibly, the wound channel also causes internal damage you can't visually see. It will hurt but if you gotta you could. This shows a poor example of an arterial bleed, you should apply pressure immediately, if bleeding refuses to stop use a tourniquet. Poor simulation honestly if you're interested find a first aid class not RUclips videos like this one.

    The model of the "bullet" is larger than any shotgun slug I have ever seen. It is not realistic at all. Also, the model of the blood leaving vessels does not account for a beating heart as the rate of fluid loss does not fluctuate with the beats of the heart increasing pressure. Just goes to show, having a college degree does not automatically mean ANYTHING.

Yes, both of those things are a possibility depending on the severity of the wound but still very far from garenteed. Yes lie down, and tie something around the limb and keep pressure on the wound until help arrives preferably elevating if possible.

    That is a large LARGE AND SUPER LARGE bullet. That ball is like 3 times the size of a 50 cal. And that isn’t a thing. And most gun shot would are from a 9mm. (the most common caliber involved in gun violence).

    i was searching why bullets kill....now i think that's due to blood loss only

      Not only Blood loss, trauma to an organs like the heart, brain, massive infections afterwards, clots in the blood causing an MI afterwards in the hospital, tension pneumothorax (lung deflating), shattered bone causing secondary injuries, diaphragm controls 60% of your breathing so shot there is life threatening, even choking on blood can happen.
