No you don't need a specific cable. That to me sounds like you've not configured your TV to output audio to HDMI correctly. Have to checked your settings? Usually it's plug and play but solve TVs might just need settings changed.

I own a Samsung S90C connected to a 4070Ti (Desktop PC) via HDMI 2.1, operating at 4K 120Hz. Is it not recommended to buy this soundbar for it, since it doesn't support HDMI 2.1? That part was confusing, to say the least.
No, you do not connect the PC to the soundbar, but rather directly to the TV. That comment about the lack of v2.1 was pretty clear in the review, and mentioned you connecting directly to the soundbar and NOT the TV. So, you'll be fine to output 4k 120hz if your TV has HDMI 2.1 and your PC too. Make sense?
You do have the bass enhancement setting via the app aswell so, you can enable this and add a couple notches to the EQ aswell to get a better low rumble. I don't always keep this setting on however it has help in some movies where the base feels lacking. The base enhancement setting really kicks the sub into high gear.
You can't plug your Xbox into the soundbar for that Res+refresh rate. You can of course plug your console directly into your TV without issues (if of course it has HDMI 2.1)
Is the Samsung HW-800C a good fit for the 55" LG C3 as I am getting that TV later this week and want a good soundbar to go with it. However, the stand only allows for 2.75" of clearance before a soundbar would start to obstruct the picture. Also, I understand the HDM passthrough would not work with a PS5 or Xbox Series X due to not being 2.1 but I assume it would be fine for a Panasonic UB820 4K BD player so I can use Dolby Atmos from 4K discs?

Glad you liked it! I can't comment about them as I've not tested them with this particular soundbar, but from prior experience it's a good addition for that extra soundstage, which is particularly impressive with Atmos content. You will indeed get 7.1.4 as mentioned by the other person, as the speakers have two drivers per side.

I am trying to purchase an optimum, i.e. price/budget soundbar, equipment and I am in between Q700C vs Q800C vs Denon S517. Since I do not have Samsung TV, is it worth to buy these Q series since Q symphony and space fit features will not work in another brand. Morover do you have any other alternatives within these considered budget limits?

Got one of these for $575 (Australian) which was a steal. Only $10 more than the JBL 500. Very happy with it - especially when I moved the Sub next the the couch I was sitting on instead of next to the soundbar in front of me.
I am thinking about getting one (just under $600 AUD sale), have you had any software issues because I have seen a couple people raise the issue and I am trying to figure out if it is an isolated issue or not.

My Q700C stays warm as well and was wondering the same. I do have it hooked up to WiFi, that’s probably it. Doesn’t seem to be a problem as the bar is working brilliantly
I bought this 2 months ago for 330€ on sale. For that price I think this soundbar is a absolute steal You should also have run over the Virtual mode, which really gives some depth in Atmos content.
@@alaleab5439A subwoofer is omnidirectional. Which means that sounds go everywhere. I've put the woofer on the left of the soundbar, seeing from the viewing point. The woofer is facing the wall with 1 inch space That gives a good deep sound because the sound waves bounces off the wall really quickly, so you get "double" sound level. Try it out and here the difference

Funnily enough, after asking for quite some time, they have! Very thankful for it, in the next soundbar review you'll see a new TV, which means I'll finally be able to test all the features :)
Incredible power and sound, tremendous subwoofer, the whole house shakes by putting the volume at 1/4 of the power. It is a pleasure to watch movies with it and not with the mediocre standard speakers that SmartTVs come with installed. But... it's not surround sound. Not at least as Samsung advertises. The Q800C has 2 speakers that emit sound towards the ceiling so that it bounces and the effect of the sound coming from that direction is felt. I have tested the extensive catalog of movies with Dolby Atmos on Disney+ and at no time have I perceived that effect by trying the different configuration and equalization modes of the sound bar. I have updated to the latest Firmware without success. Yes, you can feel how the objects move from one side to the other (left / right) but the sound always comes from in front of the viewer. You will not hear anything coming from the sides or from above as Samsung sells in its advertising. I'd like to say that I have not bought the rear complementary speakers because I do not have space at home for them, something that Samsung at no time warns that they are necessary for the effect of the upfiring speakers. The Q-Symphony effect that they also promote is not noticeable either. To resume, a very good sound bar but as it comes in the box you will not find surround sound and you will need to spend a few hundred euros more on the 2 rear speakers. I bought it on BlackFriday for €424, which with the refund of the €100 offer from Samsung, ended up at €324.
That's a great price! As for the surround, it's not going to compete with more expensive bars, however, it still does pretty well, especially in the Adaptive mode. Could it be due to your room's acoustics or setup? I have found that to be pivotal in the Atmos reproduction.

The sofa is placed 2 meters in front of the bar, the distance from floor to ceiling is 2.6 meters. The ceiling is completely flat, there is no element on it that could distort the sound experience. There is a wall with some books selves 2m to the right of the bar and no wall to the left of it. I've read some other reviews on Reddit about this bar and users have the same impression as me. Very good bar, but the sound always comes in from the front of the of spectators. I think Samsung would have to reconsider the way they promote their products in order to fit the real users experience.
@@bender2554 ah that's fine; yeah I'm the same, don't have any special setup, but have noticed that at times if it's not setup correctly, you won't get that bouncing audio from the ceiling effect.

Sorry, "normal HDMI"? I presume you mean your TV doesn't have ARC at all, so you'd be limited to optical or other?

Not sure as I don't own an iPhone. But the upward firing speakers will work outside of Atmos content, when you're using the Adaptive sound mode.

@@TotallydubbedHD IMHO, JBL 9.1 should be compared to the Samsung Q990C - surrounding speakers, comparable price level. Q800C is more budget solution but still super quality for the price. It will be my choice after quick market review and some demo listening in audio store. Great review!

Thanks for the video. I'll have a question. I bought a Samsung Q800 c model soundbar, but even if I use it or not, when it is plugged in, the bottom of the middle part warms up. Is the temperature here normal or does this happen in different model soundbars? Thank you
Could be because it's connected to WiFi? Think that's normal, but can't be 100% sure.

My Q700C stays warm as well and was wondering the same. I do have it hooked up to WiFi, that’s probably it. Doesn’t seem to be a problem as the bar is working brilliantly

You should also have run over the Virtual mode, which really gives some depth in Atmos content.
Virtual mode screws up a lot of the mid-range reproduction. Glad you're enjoying it though.

@@alaleab5439A subwoofer is omnidirectional. Which means that sounds go everywhere. I've put the woofer on the left of the soundbar, seeing from the viewing point. The woofer is facing the wall with 1 inch space
That gives a good deep sound because the sound waves bounces off the wall really quickly, so you get "double" sound level. Try it out and here the difference

Funnily enough, after asking for quite some time, they have! Very thankful for it, in the next soundbar review you'll see a new TV, which means I'll finally be able to test all the features :)
Incredible power and sound, tremendous subwoofer, the whole house shakes by putting the volume at 1/4 of the power.
It is a pleasure to watch movies with it and not with the mediocre standard speakers that SmartTVs come with installed.
But... it's not surround sound. Not at least as Samsung advertises.
The Q800C has 2 speakers that emit sound towards the ceiling so that it bounces and the effect of the sound coming from that direction is felt.
I have tested the extensive catalog of movies with Dolby Atmos on Disney+ and at no time have I perceived that effect by trying the different configuration and equalization modes of the sound bar. I have updated to the latest Firmware without success.
Yes, you can feel how the objects move from one side to the other (left / right) but the sound always comes from in front of the viewer. You will not hear anything coming from the sides or from above as Samsung sells in its advertising.
I'd like to say that I have not bought the rear complementary speakers because I do not have space at home for them, something that Samsung at no time warns that they are necessary for the effect of the upfiring speakers.
The Q-Symphony effect that they also promote is not noticeable either.
To resume, a very good sound bar but as it comes in the box you will not find surround sound and you will need to spend a few hundred euros more on the 2 rear speakers.
I bought it on BlackFriday for €424, which with the refund of the €100 offer from Samsung, ended up at €324.
That's a great price! As for the surround, it's not going to compete with more expensive bars, however, it still does pretty well, especially in the Adaptive mode.
Could it be due to your room's acoustics or setup? I have found that to be pivotal in the Atmos reproduction.

Well, my room doesn't have any special features different from standard living rooms.
The sofa is placed 2 meters in front of the bar, the distance from floor to ceiling is 2.6 meters. The ceiling is completely flat, there is no element on it that could distort the sound experience. There is a wall with some books selves 2m to the right of the bar and no wall to the left of it.
I've read some other reviews on Reddit about this bar and users have the same impression as me. Very good bar, but the sound always comes in from the front of the of spectators.
I think Samsung would have to reconsider the way they promote their products in order to fit the real users experience.
@@bender2554 ah that's fine; yeah I'm the same, don't have any special setup, but have noticed that at times if it's not setup correctly, you won't get that bouncing audio from the ceiling effect.
