Hello Coach, here's some questions related to doubles. How do you carry a player who is weaker? (for example a 4.0/3.0 team). Do you decide after 2/3/4 shots, I'm poaching no matter? If you have a FH do you decide to go for the winner or play a high percentage shot? Kind of related to this, I'm finding a lot of women are being coached to keep a 1 up-1 back position so that if I go to the net, they'll retreat to the baseline in case of a lob? If this something being coached? How do you play w/ such a player. BTW, I realize a simple answer is to get a better partner, but well tennis is also a social game and we want to play w/ friends... A third question, I'm used to being the stronger player in the team, but how should I play if I end up being rated up and am now in the position of the weaker player?

Super helpful. Have you addressed how to deviate from the standard racquet drop before hitting the ball in order to hit a higher ball? This is assuming you’re not moving back to let the ball fall nor hitting off the rise. Ive seen some online content advising having the elbow higher.

    • @ironwilltennis

I have not specifically talked about it, it's a kind of intuitive thing. Not always necessary per say 😁

30 years ago, I was taught that if there is a high bouncing ball to your forehand OR backhand, you need to start your swing higher. Got to get the elbow up and start your swing from a higher position. You didnt say those words exactly, but at the last you seemed to be implying a higher start of the swing.

@@ironwilltennis I got a topic for a future video. In match play should I hit the shot I'm feeling better with that day or what the textbook says? Sometimes I got for those text book shots but I feel more confident about another option. This is a mental/strategy question.
