"Nature Deficit Disorder" THATS WHAT I HAVE! Thankyou Dr. BTW, your kit is WAY dialed in...good for you. I'm looking to try out tarp camping....maybe a bit bigger tarp. Cheers

Super informative videos. I got a Borah Solo Tarp, which is bigger, but still on the small side and I'm a bit apprehensive. Your trip reports help provide confidence (except for that gopher thing...I'm going to...try to forget that. :)).

Don’t let the Reddit bastards get you down. Next video, you’ll do a timeline/directory. Thanks for the review.

What’s the name of the of that container you cut for coffee? I use a paint strainer for mine

It originally came with coconut oil and came from the weight loss supplements aisle at a fancy grocery store. It seems thicker than regular plastic containers. It's #2 plastic so okay for food. Holds 2 cups. A ziploc food storage container with a blue lid would be just as good and would have a lid, be more useful, but maybe less like a cup.

I have a Parmesan cheese container I was using as a coffee press and it deformed after a few uses and that was just from letting it stand and then used that with a cheesecloth from Home Depot. It’s a pain buying the cheese just for the container

I think I might have actually found the container online. Google search Emerald Coconut oil 16oz and that looks like the kind of plastic container it started out as before I cut off the threads. It's #2 plastic and quite thick so it won't melt if you pour hot water in like a Parmesan cheese container will. I really want to find another container like this because I want to restore the lid. I've found beet powder supplements that look like they might be good containers but I'll have to see in person to make sure. Normal people want to know what's inside the container but only wackos like me want to know what the container is like. Ha ha.

Try walking in a store with your Titanium cup and trying every to fit every cylinder into it to see what fits best. 😂

Found it and it’s about $14. It’s worth it if it takes the heat and I can use it for food

Good job with this. I guess what I don't get as a backpacker, pretty much UL, is what purpose these types of tarp tents serve. Yeah...it would provide some weather protection, unless the wind was blowing sideways, but I doubt this would be the tent you'd go out with in weather. It doesn't keep bugs out, there's no solid vestibule and you'd have as much, if not more, ventilation with a tent only pitch with, probably, a handful of ounces as a weight ding. It just seems that cowboy camping would be an even lighter choice. I'll assume this packs super small so I guess I could see it as some type of emergency shelter. Maybe I'm missing something with these set ups.

It's always a little warmer under a tarp than out under the sky. The little crawling bugs I showed don't bother me. There was even a little green caterpillar that made its way into my sleeping bag. It never bothered me. I felt bad I might have squished it a little. It's only flies and mosquitoes that bother me and I have a bug net I can attach for that. I never much like cowboy camping. I feel too vulnerable to two-legged varmints.

The guy I bought mine from was 6’2” and said it was just too small for him but if he was 6’ it would not be a problem. He also had a thermarest x-lite if that helps.

Thank you for the nice video. Enjoyed doing the hike to Forbush a couple times. Drawing inspiration from your videos of the hike you did from NIRA to the PCT last year to put together something similar of my Bigfoot Trail hike from the PCT (Carter Meadows Summit) to Bear Creek, using music from the same group (Healing Handpan Alliance).

Oh my god you did the Bigfoot Trail? Did you do the whole thing? A friend of mine showed me that and it sounded sort of half-baked and totally awesome.
