Wow, we're really beginning to witness the end of an era. It's sad to see these beauties start to be retired, but they've been serving the peninsula well for decades. Hopefully the 2000 batch of gallery cars will stick around a while longer.
Sad to hear about them getting into retirement, I remember riding on the F40/Gallery trains when I was a child up and down the Peninsula. I grew up with the diesels and I hope that they all get preserved.
I've heard that Caltrain is retiring many of their Gallery Cars, but I didn't know 14 of them are already retired. I'm glad you got to catch this unusual train: an F40PH _and_ an MP15 hauling the Gallery Cars to Santa Clara. Also, why was one of JPBX 901's headlights off? Lastly, that's one fast bell at 11:53! Thanks for the video!
@@ethancampbell6076, I did not know that! So, I can think of this as a sort of "classification light": the middle light is on for passenger trains, but off for non-regular service. Thanks for the information!
It’s sad to see that the F40S in retirement on Caltrain for years now well It was so awesome the gallery sets going away 😢very soon 😂 thank you Caltrain too and taking passengers were they’re going to work or baseball ⚾️ games so they can go enjoy riding Caltrain sets thank you for your support to San Jose citizens and the city council we appreciate you Caltrain workers engineers ❤❤❤❤🎉 you earned some gifts 🎁 god bless them 🇺🇸🚆⚾️✍️🍾👍👍👍👍👍🏆👋
They'll use the current BB sets for gilroy as those are more recent. They're running shuttle-esque service where you'll transfer between an electric and diesel train to get to and from gilroy at either san jose or tamien (don't remember). further into the future, there will be electrified trackway to gilroy as part of CAHSR, which I assume caltrain will then use
@@lalakerspro This has been proposed (by staedler, who wants sales), but I'd much rather see them use CAHSR funding to buy out the right of way and electrify.
They might give some away but the plan is for nearly all to be sold. Metrolink for the 2028 games was looking at them. Peru wanted them to start a regional rail line.
Great footage but good riddance to truly appalling stock. Should have been gone 20 years ago. Also, they should take the F40 to the shredder while they are at it. The absolute worst tool for the job they have been used on. Dreading to see how Caltrain manage to screw up the Stadler stuff...
I agree, gallery cars suck. But what about the F40 makes it the worst engine for these kinds of trains? Lots of commuter/regional railroads have used them successfully.
Caltrain gallery cars were great my favorites 🎉❤❤❤ I’ve never ride on Caltrain before is it worth the ride or is it fun from San Jose to San Francisco station train 🚆 I’m very saddened to see those cars into retirement since 1980 year ago Farewell they did A amazing rush hours for passengers daily back to back work day and fun activities to families events too but they have new EMU stadler Electric train sets entering service in the Fall of September 2024 ❤❤❤❤⚡️🇺🇸🇺🇸🚆👍👍👍👍👍🎂🏆🎁🍾
Nice to see Caltrain leave 😂😮 but they are making these Brand new emu stadler to Caltrain in Fall of 2024 I'm going to be excited for the electrification improvement ❤❤❤❤ thank you Caltrain for all the years of service of bay area city's ❤❤❤❤❤🎉🇺🇸❤️🍀🚆

The top light was on for yard movement and regular service will use the middle light.

Stellar video! Sad to see caltrain’s old fleet start to retire😢
They were great, rode them for 20 years. But its time for new rolling stock.
Love it. We'll miss them 🥺
Nice video! Will they electrify the coast sub down to Gilroy, or will they keep running the F40s? Or will they stop service down to Gilroy?

@@arxligion ok cool, I believe it will be at Tamien because that’s where the electrification stops
They will use battery emus from sj to gilroy. They will charge from sf to sj then use the battery to gilroy

@@lalakerspro ok
It would be cool if you are able to film them coming to Sonoma county
Why don’t They give the old gallery coaches to a museum
I got the California state railroad museum in mind.

Some museums already have an interest in mainly preserving the Gallery cab cars but dunno if they will actually proceed or not.
@@gdrriley420I'm just glad they're still going to be useful and not scrapped.
send all these Nippon Sharyo cars to Arizona, allong witht he F40PH Loco, we could use these trainset from Phoenix to Tucson, and up to Anthem way.

Lol F40s are solid. What are you talking about?
I wouldn't go that far, but its certainly long past time for replacement. They were showing their age ten years ago.
I'm going to miss my favorite passenger double Decker's car the gallery cars I had and have good memories on them I'm really sad and sorry
@@stevens1041what about the mp36?
