Remember well watches at sea mine back in the mid 1970's on USS DuPont DD941. Lots of fond memories in the North Atlantic with NATO and lots in the Caribbean during the Castro issues. Looking back good times. Be safe and always be prepared for Mother Nature 🙏
When Louie gets to dog heaven he will encounter your other pets and celebrate having known you and Steve. Wishing you and Steve smooth sailing throughout your journey. Peace princess.
That’s a lovely sentiment. They’ve made the lives of so many animals better… some in great measure and some by just giving a quick hello and a little love. The bit where they give him a bath and a new blanket brought a tear to my eye.
The Las Vegas casino music at the end, ala 1960s, is great. My dad was in the Canadian navy (WW2 ) and he said guys would be sick for 2 weeks on convoy crossings, but still had to do their jobs all under the stress of U boats, icebergs and hunger. Great video.
Bonjour Steve et Michelle. bienvenue en Taiwan. what a great vidéo. what a lovely vessel too. Steve must be on cloud nine and ten. your collective love of animals and care is worldwide. have a great next leg of your trip.
That dog was mess glad you took time out of your day to give him some love. Louie appreciated it, I’am sure. Have fun be safe, Steve is a lucky man to have such lovely wife beside him on his adventures.
Louie is really cute nice behaved dog😂 add Steve is on the top of the world just like in the Titanic that's funny😂 thank you for the video it was nice to see that sunset sunrise it's pretty out in the ocean I guess I'll see you on the next one
I was in the US Navy and did 6 years sea duty, 10 years total. I miss being at sea. Watching this brought back fond memories of being on the open ocean. My first ship, the USS Towers DDG-9 was home ported in Yokosuka, Japan. Thank you for sharing this adventure with us. We celebrated Veterans day here in the US. Thank you to all my brothers and sisters for your service and welcome home.
Kewl boat. We need a tour please. Thanks for giving Loui attention. Not surprised you did though. THIS will be an adventure for sure. I'm exited. Safe travels!
The love of animals that you two have causes me to relive experiences since my wife and I are the same way. You never know when another adventure with a four legged friend will come around and you just take every opportunity to give, and get, love.
You all are always so nice with your pets, unfortunately for our dog Zoey the veterinarian says she is dying after 13 years of her being with us. Just so hard for us. I wish you safe travels as you make your way home.
It was a pleasure to have you and Steve join me at breakfast! Quite an adventure that your on. It was good seeing you take care of Louie, I am sure he appreciated it. Have a safe journey.
That Renaissance man is good to have around.... What a wonderful journey ahead. Keep the wind in your sails and keep your food down...lol Be well and stay safe.
Okinawa is beautiful. I took my son there on his 21st birthday trip. After 2 weeks all over the mainland islands, Tokyo, bullet trains etc, it was a relaxing time in a chauffeured Airbnb motorhome. ❤🇯🇵👍🇦🇺
Michy You are the salt of the earth !!!! Louie!!!! Thanks for taking us with you, Steve is awesome, I would feel secure on a voyage like that with him onboard.
Oh , it is so much to know how it works about the ship. First repair than it goes on. Some important things to do before start in the ocean. You and Steve are a good team 🥰🤗
So, the Pelagic and her crew are shipshape seaworthy! Great to hear, and great to go along for the cruise. 😊 I was sorta hoping you'd steal/buy Little Louie, so that he could spend the rest of his life unchained. Thanks for sharing your adventures! 😁
So glad you and Steve made it to Japan, @Michy! Great to see the stabilisation vanes in action. And so wholesome to see how good you were to that Taiwanese coast guard dog 🐕🥰
Glad to see you’re on your way back with the boat. I know you’ve both been chomping at the bite to get going. As always so nice of you to take care of Louie, but I wouldn’t expect anything less. Thanks for the update and have fun. Take care and be safe lady!
Great to see that you are back on the boat!!! Steve looked really happy up at the bow ... I envy him that moment!!! The boat looks great after sitting out the cyclone season. I look forward to the new adventures!!! Fair weather and following seas my friends!!!
I have been watching this channel for a while now. I love the variety of content, from building a cabin in a crazy location, to outdoor adventures, to hanging out with your very sweet pack of dogs, but the last thing that I would have expected to see was an old friend! I knew Dennis many many years ago when he was living in Ottawa, but we have not been in touch for quite a while. Please say hi from Ron in Ottawa next time you see him. Have fun in Japan! I am looking forward to seeing more adventures with DD462! Thanks for sharing all of these great videos Michelle!
What a challenge to get ready and deal with all the crazy in another country. Those waves looked big. No fun with the sea sickness. Love the extra love and bath for the dog at the harbor. You both are amazing. Best of luck on the water.
Thank you for sharing your adventure, look forward to next video. I love that you both always help puppies. Sure the pup loved his bath and treats and new bed. Cheers, safe travels
Oscillating multi-tool is the thing you needed for the rudder indicator. Far more of a precise and versatile cutting tool than a jig saw, angle grinder or dremel. It can make square cuts unlike the angle grinder or dremel, but it can also do plunge cuts unlike the jigsaw.
The passive stabilizers on Pelagic are commonly known as "paravanes". The same system is also called "flopper stoppers" but that's only when the vessel is at anchor and you deploy them to lessen the roll. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much for taking us along on your voyage. Thank goodness Steve is a thorough and responsible Captain and diligent with his maintenance, that fuel filter gave me a sharp intake of breath! Diesel bug….yikes! What you did for the seaside dog was delightful. Kind, sweet, generous and caring. You lovely people.
Damn girl, you are (or maybe Steve is) living my dream. It looks like y’all have put together a fine vessel. We wish you fair winds and favorable seas. ❤
As a Navy man, 20 years, I wish your journey "Fair Winds and Following Seas." Lots of Love to you and Steve. Simply a gem you are, with Louie. Such a sweet pupper.
Your video editing is next level . I don't feel like I'm going to have a seizure from watching a slide show . Gee -- I wonder where attention deficit disorder came from . I can't watch a rock video because I'll fall out of my chair . I nominate you for an award .
I always enjoy your videos especially building the small cabin, but man you brought me to tears taking care of the pup. I am sure that pup appreciated your love and compassion and it says a lot about you and your husband. You are good people awesome job.
Hi Michelle, Japan is on my bucket list for places to go. I use a Dremel for minor gel coat repairs. 01:54 excellent consolidation, no voids 👌🏽. You and Steve are amazing when it comes to animals ❤. All the senior males from both sides dad, grandad etc were navy⚓👍🏽👍🏽. Engine rooms can be so crammed, glad you have adequate space to work in. Take care and bon voyage ⛵🎌
Nice as always. For the oil, you may want to look into a peristaltic pump. You can pick one up (relatively) cheaply. I use one for oil, coolant and (small scale) fuel transfers. As with anything though, you get what you pay for. Fair winds, following seas,
...What an amazing experience ... and a beautiful boat !! .. ... Little Louie appeared to remember you ,, The love and kindness was SO accepted by Louie .. He will always remember his "Land Angels" ..
You are such a Beautiful and Wonderful soul, Thank you for giving so much love to that beautiful little boy Louie, he probably never had a bath. And the bedding. Wow. Love you for doing that. P.S. YOU SHOULD HAVE SNUCK HIM ON YOUR BOAT. HE WOULD BEEN BETTER OFF THE 2 OF YOU❤
Thanks for sharing this adventure, the logistics seem to go well this time around but the sea’s, not so much! I love how you gave the dog a bath and cleaned his house up, you have huge hearts and it’s evident! Be safe on your next journey forward! ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼
Great to hear and see things are going good. Thank you and Steve for sharing this adventure, it’s really interesting and enjoyable to watch.👍 Stay safe and please keep posting!
It’s super common on a boat to have locations where you can’t get a tool(even a jig saw) into for cutting a simple hole. This is where a hacksaw blade is magic. Buy a high quality bimetal blade. Either wrap part of the blade with duct tape or make a handle out of wood. Use it on the pull stroke like a Japanese hand saw. Cuts thru composite like butter.
I have to say Michelle, I like the boat series. It's compelling and personal, it's good content for culture and nautical experiences. No worries - trees and mill will still be there. Cheers to you and Steve, nothing like his past experience we hope. ;) Fair winds and following seas...
so glad you made it safely out of the Taiwan Straits to Japan... I've flown over that area twice a month for the last 15 years...the last 5 years have been crazy with the Chinese aggression toward Taiwan...had to deviate many times due to PRC fake invasions....you may have many challenges getting back to North America, but at least War wont be one of them
I’m amazed you didn’t smuggle Louie on board and take him home with you dear. Or is that for the next episode when you are out on the open sea and can’t get caught??? 😂😂😂❤❤
Love the channel Michelle!❤ This may be one of your best videos yet - Great thrill ride and adventure! Safe travels for all of you! So so sweet you gave the dog a bath n blanket!

Another beautiful video. So glad to see that you made it safely from Taiwan to Japan. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your journey. Safe journey, Michy.
Applause applause a very enjoyable trip aboard your Diesel Duck , sorry your sea legs were a bit wobbly , old coast guardsman and many time boat owner here in the audience , night watches are when all the trouble happens kind ah like the night shift on the med surgery floor huh, you never fail to entertain us in a first class manner, being it hugging a tree, rescuing a neglected dog or sailing the china sea, your content and life adventures are well worth the watch, Good Stuff.

“Dry as a popcorn fart” 🤣🤣🤣 I always get an eye roll from my acquaintances when I use that one!
Nice job navigating the seas and the bureaucracies . You're a wonderful ambassador for Canada
Yes, she certainly is!

Excellent. Many people do not realize how valuable the military forces are. They do not train just to fight in wars.

So you did sneak him out you naughty beautiful lady 😊😊😊😊
@@jococentralcoastaustralia7149 I very much wanted to, BUT, that would be disrespectful so I did not.
Clearly, Louie enjoyed his bath. So nice of you to help him get clean
