Beautiful video ! I would love to visit Okinawa. My mother was born there in 1935 and came to live in the United States around 1960. She never had the chance to return. I would like to take an extended trip to Okinawa in her memory one day. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for watching. I appreciate you sharing your story. I hope you can visit Okinawa some day.
Loved this! We lived in Okinawa twice as a military family. This is one of my favorite places in the world!
I haven't been on Okinawa since 1972.
I absolutely love the island. And it's wonderful people, and cuisine.
I ate at the first Kobe beef restaurant on Okinawa, and I'll never forget Charlie's Tacos.
Thank you so much for sharing. It brings back such great memories.
Kengo is the best tourist guide in RUclips. ありがとう kengoさん
Thank you for such a kind word again. I'm glad you liked the video. :)
Thank you very much for your valuable introduction to Okinawa. Your tips on transportation, accommodation, car rentals & places to visit have greatly helped me in planning for my trip to Okinawa soon🍺🍺🍺
Spent 18 awesome months there, stationed at Kadena. Didn't get a scuba license but did some snorkeling. It's another world...there's more variety of sea life in the waters around Okinawa than anywhere else on earth. It's breathtaking. Many great memories traveling all over the island with friends.
That's great you had opportunity to explore Okinawa during your 18 months stay. You're right, I also do only snorkeling but it's amazing how much you can see underwater in Okinawa. Thank you for watching.
That's what I've been seeing online. I'm debating whether to tour Japan all summer and go down to Okinawa or go over to Southeast Asia. Decisions decisions.
A fun fact about Okinawa: a majority of Nikkei in Peru have roots in Okinawa. I believe that is also true in Brazil.
Edna san, that is very interesting. I've heard there are some villages with Okinawan people in South America. Thank you always.

From Canada, Thank you for the tour. My family and I hope to visit your beautiful country one day!
Thank you so much for watching from Canada. I hope you and your family can explore Japan someday soon. :)
What an epic video Kengo san, I’m blown away by the amount of effort that goes into each one of your videos, great job capturing the beauty of Okinawa 🎉 👍🌴🌸
Thank you so so much for watching and your kind comment Chris san.😭 I can sleep well tonight.
My dream to go back again has been constant !!!
Really insightful video. Thank you.
great information! Made us want to visit Okinawa. Nicely done!!
Kenchan thank youuu and you're a cutie. Going to Okinawa first time next year so scuba diving, but planning to go spend time on land as well and your video is informative and calming.
Thanks! Another great video with comprehensive information! And in our opinion your comments at the end of it where extremely good and in total agreement with other RUclipsrs we watch! The one thing that makes your video especially good is that a viewer can get all the helpful information in one video, rather than having to watch many videos. It might be better if you could experiment with the recording of sound on-site or balance the sound more when editing. We not visiting Okinawa soon we will certainly look to your video as a resource when the time comes. Please continue your good work!
Kevin san, Dayle san, thank you again for your support for the video. I didn't know other RUclipsrs were saying the same thing about Okinawa trip. I'm glad more and more people are talking about Okinawa. :) Also, thank you for letting me know about the sound issue. I made in the same way as I made Tokyo video, and somehow it had lots of wind sound (wind blew in Tokyo too) and this is the version I fixed several times, but I definitely need more study and better equipment.😅 Thank you for bearing with me and watching!
Thank you for this wonderful video. I was stationed in Okinawa with the US Navy from 1987-89. Near Kadina Air Force Base. I would love to return for a visit one day. The people of Okinawa are very kind and hospitable.
Thank you for watching and sharing your story. Probably you know a lot more about Okinawa.:) I agree people are very nice there. It has developed as a resort a lot since then, but it's still has nice slow atmosphere.
Keep it up man! You're doing a great job.
Thank you ! I really appreciate your word.
沖縄を素敵に案内してくれてありがとう。
沖縄の方にそう仰っていただくと嬉しいです。ご視聴いただきありがとうございます!
best video on Okinawa, super informative, detailed information for those of us who want to go to Okinawa in the future and to plan our own travels, thank you for doing this, you did such an amazing job, many thanks!
Thank you for watching and your comment that motivates me to make more videos. I'm glad you found the video informative. I wish the best trip in Okinawa. :)
Thank you so much for this! Your videos are always so helpful especially explaining transportation options and the hotel recommendation in Naha City was very helpful too. I have booked marked this hotel for the late open pool :)
I'm glad you found the video helpful and that you like the hotel! I hope you enjoy your trip. Please make sure to get the balcony side as it can be very different on the other side. :)
Greetings from Okinawa, Japan. great job on this video, very detailed and informative.
Thank you Dennis san, I'm glad you live Okinawa and liked the video. I'd like to explore more of Okinawa again. :)
This is a clear & comprehensive video coverage of Okinawa. I will be visiting Okinawa next year spring in 2025, on free & easy. I hope everything goes smoothly 😅. Thanks.
I’m glad it was helpful. Have a great time in Okinawa! Thank you for watching. :)
Thank you for this. This is a very good guide.
Thank you for watching!
First time I seen Okinawa I was excited in 1968! Landed at Kadena and taken to Camp Hansen (Kin Village)! Ended up spending 2 years and none of the hotels were there! We seen the island on motor cycle and the roads were all dirt roads and paths! What a beautiful island and I loved it. Last time I was there for only one year was in 1983!
This guy needs to have more subscribers. I like the way he explain everything very detailed. I’m planning to go to okinawa on September and this vlog makes me wanna go now😅
Thank you for watching and such a nice message. ☺️ I wish you the best Okinawa trip in September.
Such a great VDO❤ Can wait to visit Okinawa in Nov. Thank you so much.

I did..always..and will be enjoying it..
I don’t think I will ever get tired of coming back and forth to this great country…
I do hope I get to meet u soon Ken Chan
I have been to Japan so many times.... But never to Okinawa. I'm hoping to stay there 3-4 weeks on my next trip. I want to explore several of the islands and do a lot of scuba diving!
I still need to dive in Atami also
Thank you for watching this video. Oh wow, 3-4 weeks in Okinawa sounds amazing! especially if you do scuba diving. I think you will like Okinawa as it has easy going semi-tropical island air, lots of Awamori and great Okinawan foods. Naha is convenient like Tokyo. :) Atami! haha. I haven't been to Atami until recently since I heard it's dated, but Atami was nicer than I thought.
@@tokyokenchan i enjoyed Atami..... It's kind of quiet but beautiful area. And the public foot bath is great! I could stay the all day if i have a few cold Asahi super drys ! ;)
@@dazdragon445 Oh you finally went to Atami!? Haha. That's great. I can do the same even though I prefer Ichiban Shibori. :)
Thank you for the details. This video was very helpful.
Thank You. Visiting next month....
That's great! I hope you have a great stay in Okinawa.
I loved your video nice explanation and very informative....I Love Japan!!!!
Thank you so much for watching and your kind words. :)
First of all,Thank you very much for this wonderful video,Kengo-son.👏👏👏👏 I was born on Okinawa in 1953. I have truly, enjoy this video.🥰 it brought me back lots of good memories, especially about white beaches in warm water. Both of my parents are buried in Okinawa, my father in Naha and my mother in Ie Shema. Thanks again for a good memories.👏👏👏👏👏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🍻🍻🍻🍻🍺🍺🍺👍👍👍☮️☮️☮️
Thank you very much for watching and leaving a comment. I'm glad you enjoyed this video especially if you were born in Okinawa. 😄 Okinawa must have changed a lot since the time you were there. Have a great day.
looking forward going to okinawa next year! ありがとう!
Thanks Ken Chan for another video update on the JR pass. We’ll be visiting Japan November this year and will buy the JR pass through the JTB USA agency to get the exchange voucher sent to our house. This way, we can take advantage of the current lower rate before October 2023. We enjoy watching your videos and the helpful information you provide.
Thank you for watching. Sounds great you have a solid plan for your trip with JR pass . JTB USA should be trustable and I have good memory with them when I went to LA 20 years ago. :)
Daving this video to when i have enough money to visit, thannk you so much for the through explanation.
I hope you get to visit Okinawa in near future. Thank you for watching. :)

Thank you for the video I’m going to Okinawa in Nov it‘s very useful to me. ❤
Great! Have a wonderful trip in Okinawa!
I would like to learn more about the other islands.
Thank you for making this video. I'm going to Taiwan on a 2-week tour, then free-roaming on Okinawa Honto for a day, then the Yaeyama islands for a few days and back to Okinawa Honto for about 5 days. Never been to Asia before, so its going to be fun! I've already pre-booked everything but I am watching videos on RUclips to learn about any customs or other things I might have missed in my initial research.
Thank you very much for watching. That's great you are visiting Taiwan and Okinawa soon. Things might look interesting if you haven't been to Asian countires. :) I wish you the best trip.
Great video, so informative and beautifully captured.
Thank you for your message. I’m glad to hear that. :)

Hi Kengo san! 🙂 I just found out your channel about JP and absolutely love it!! I have been to your homecountry already many times and would come back always and anytime. I hope I will be able to come back again in the future, as Japan is one of my fave countries ever! Take care & greetings from the Netherlands xx
Thank you for watching from Netherlands! I'm glad you liked the videos. That's great that you have been to Okinawa while not many people reach that far. I hope you come to Japan again and visit Okinawa too. :) Thank you again for leaving your comments. This means a lot to me.

Nice :) Awamori is let's say a stronger version of Sake?!
Yes, Awamori is distilled liquor so much stronger and you can enjoy in different ways while Sake, you enjoy it as it is in different temperature. :)
@@tokyokenchan Thank you, nice to know it :)
Thank you Tokyo for your helpful tips.
Amazing video, you have put together a lot of information ! You are right about not going to Okinawa on the first time in Japan probably, but since it's going to be my 2nd time i am planning a trip there in october ! Already booked 4 different hotels for my 4 nights there and will try to explore the whole island !
Thank you for watching. I’m glad to hear you are visiting Okinawa! Staying at 4 different hotels sounds fun. I wish you the best fun trip in Okinawa ^^
so informative, great video thanks so much :)

cool video, brother. thanks a lot
Thank you for watching and leaveing message. :)
Greetings from Singapore, I've subcribed to your videos and had always enjoyed watching all of your sharing..I've just returned from Japan just 2days ago after staying visiting for a month. We did sapporo, noboribetsu, lake toya, hakodate, otaru, asahikawa, biel, furano, osaka, kyoto, kanazawa, toyama, kurobe gorge..karuizawa, tokyo...had almost wanted to stay forever 😍... What I liked most about your videos are they're your personal views. And the history behind it are so interesting!! Unlike many other videis, too much of promotional video included.
Seeing this video, I'm going to visit Okinawa in June 2024. Warm? Will it be enough to cover the whole place for a month? I plan on renting a car like you to drive about.
Thank you for watching from Singapore and subscribing. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your trip in Japan. It seems you could visit many different areas in a month. Thank you also for the comment about my videos. This Okinawa video is one of my favorite and I hope I can make more of these across Japan. Okinawa can be rainy season until late June but I heard it's not like raining all the time and it can be super beautiful if it gets sunny. If you have a month, I think it would be great to visit other islands such as Kerama, Miyakojima. :)
Well done on making the video. The place where you were sat having food and drink outside, where is it?
Thank you! That is a restaurant called "Shimatoate" near Kokusai Dori. No.13 on this map. kokusaidoori-yataimura.okinawa/shop13_shimatoate/
Excellent and well-informed video as always! Something I'd really love to see is more reviews of cities that are "in-between" major ones, and not as popular: Fukuyama, Okayama, Wakayama, etc. I'm encountering these cities more while planning my trip but I don't know what's cool over there :(
Thank you! Review of small cities sound interesting. I’m going to cover all over Japan eventually. Wakayama and Okayama have a high chance the video come out early. Some cities really don’t have anything much though 😅
love okinawa, would love to retire there one day ;)
Retiring in Okinawa sounds great. :)
I am an America. I have never been to Japan but I used to live in Thailand. I will visit Okinawa one day!
can you share a little bit how much should we budget for tolls and car park if we want to self drive here?
For the express way, the longest route would be 1040 yen one way. Most of the parking spaces are free in Okinawa, but you might need to pay if you keep your rental car in Naha city. If you stay at resort hotels by the beach, it can be 500-2000 yen resort fee a day including parking.
@@tokyokenchanthanks for this great info. And dont mind if i ask you whether does naha city has got heavy traffic during certain hour?
nice. thank u
This looks like from dreams
Thank you for another great video. Looking forward to visiting here in October. Could I make one observation. When you edit your videos can you turn up the volume on your outside vocal presentations as I can hardly hear you. Thank you.
Michael san, thank you for watching and your feedback for the video. I'll work on the sound issue and also put subtitle for this video. I hope you have a great visit in October. :)
@@tokyokenchan Thank you.
Very detailed video...is OK to visit Okinawa on the first week of December?
Great detail and very informative okinawa guide kenchan ... Would you recommend a 5-10 day trip in February or is the weather too cold? Is Motobu a good location for resorts? Keep up the good work
Thank you for watching. :) The highest is around 20 degree celsius in February. If it's ok that beach or outdoor pools are not open yet for swimming, I think you can enjoy the stay. It's good to enjoy hotel stay, Naha, attractions like aquarium. Motobu is near the aquarium. Far away from the airport but a beautiful place. :) Hope you come up with a great plan to Okinawa.
great video I've been looking for something like this . does the hotel give you free
parking for your car ?
Thank you for watching. It depends. Hotels like Best Western and Okuma are free, but some major hotels like Hyatt charges.
Thank you for the video. We plan to visit Okinawa this August. We are interested a lot in nature and animals. Where would you recommend to see the sea turtles? Reading about Okinawa it also seems like dangerous animals are everywhere ( box jellyfish, stonefish, lion fish etc. In the sea and dangerous snakes and spiders in the nature), how do you see reality in this regard ? Would you have another recommendation ? Thank you.
What prepaid SIM card do you recommend? Need local number, unlimited internet, good signal and be able top up thru mobile app. Do a video on this please.
May I know what is the red bowl soba store is that in okinawa? Thank you very much😊
What month would you recommend visiting? I might come in July during my uni holidays
That is the most difficult question for Okinawa. :) I think July is great if weather is good.
Please let me know the details of the Naha restaurant where you tried awamori. Thanks! I want to go there too
Hello, thank you for watching. The bar is called "Shima to Ate" maps.app.goo.gl/nBXvxV1MrXtGb8JZA It's a fun place with a kind owner. I hope you enjoy. :)
Excited to go visit Okinawa someday. Is it still a cash based society?
It is. Especially at small shops and restaurants. Any convenience stores, gas stations, hotels, you can use cards.
Hi Kengo. May I ask, what is the typical weather by 3rd week of April in Okinawa? Is it warm enough to wear shorts or Sando? Also walk with flops?
Yes, the time I filmed this video was exactly the 3rd week of April, so as you see it's warm enough. If you enjoy bathing in water, May might be a little more comfortable but April can be more sunnier (depends on the year). I wish you the best Okinawa trip. 😄⛱️
I see. Thank you for your info ❤️👍 i will be flying to tokyo and visit osaka and okinawa this april 👍 I hope to enjoy my stay in Okinawa for the first time 🙏🏻 see you also in Japan 🙂
I’m currently staying in Naha at a budget hotel that doesn’t really have parking - so I don’t think I should rent a car…
What should I do??? I need a form of transportation because I am pretty far away from everything.
You might need to take a bus from the bus terminal in Naha or airport. www.kotsu-okinawa.org/en/map/area-honto-touristic.pdf
Hi Ken, i am planning to visit Okinawa in Oct 2024 for the first time. How many days you would recommended us to stay? Thanks Tim
Hi. I think 3-4 days are good, but can be longer. Depends on if you just visit main island or viist other islands too. I hope you have a great trip in Okinawa.
@@tokyokenchan thank you!
Allsome
Anyone know what is the coffee shop name at 1:03 ? looks cool
I’m explaining more about it at 20:00 👍 Cape Zampa Drive Inn.
Hey, if you were asking about the next shot of the small cafe on the hill, I searched it and it's called "Yamaka Stand", and is on Google Maps!
Oh maybe I was wrong. Thank you for your help! It’s in Naha city near the entrance to Yamuchin street. maps.app.goo.gl/UZ6qv2nVvENnQi13A?g_st=ic
If you don't have ETC as a tourist is it ok driving without using the expressway.
Yes, you can pay by cash or you can use regular load instead of expressway. Have a safe driving.
Great video . I plan to go to Okinawa in early july. Is it raining heavily ?
Thank you for watching. Usually, Okinawa's rainy season finish end of June and it was June 23 last yaer. If the rainy season finish, it shouldn't rain much.
@@tokyokenchan thank you very much
@@Taosupachoke Have a great trip to Okinawa !🌞🏖

If you had to choose between visiting Okinawa or Kyoto/Osaka, (have not been to any of these places)
Which place / places would you have picked?
Kyoto. Because no where is like Kyoto. As I'm in Tokyo, I can skip Osaka probably. But both Kyoto and Okinawa are special. :)
Thank you very much!
Hi, do do private tours on Naha?
Of course there are too many places to cover everything in one video. I myself have never been to Miyakojima. I like Ishigaki. Not far is Iriomotejima and Taketomijima.
