Lyrics:
on the verge of no return
why’d you keep fucking it up
don’t want to have to bury you
but nothing seems to get through your skull
one day the only butterflies left will be in your chest
as you march towards your death breathing your last breath
i hate to say i told you so
but look how the bruises show
tell me
how’s it gonna feel
without my arms wrapped around, wrapped around you.
bet it feels pretty real when your skin starts to peel from the bone.
you were dead to the world
now Ii’m dead to you
haunting your own house
nothing to lose
how did i let you sink your fangs so deep?
you know you can’t breathe on your own.
past the point of rescuing
why’d i keep pushing my luck
the hole i wore into your soul has got too big to overlook
one day the only butterflies left will be in our chests
as we march towards our death breathing our last breath
i thought we had a future
but we ain't got a chance in hell
so tell me
how’s it gonna feel
without my arms wrapped around, wrapped around you.
bet it feels pretty real when your skin starts to peel from the bone.
you were dead to the world
now i’m dead to you
haunting your own house
nothing to lose
i let you sink your fangs so deep
you know I can’t breathe on my own.
the sun is setting on our love, i fear
letting our loneliness out into the atmosphere
the tide is turning on our chance to turn it round
i never thought id see my fingernails fall out.
love isn’t in the air.

This ain't heavy metal but the feels is heavier in this one.

I Slept With Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me
I absolutely love songs that can be interpreted differently depending on the audience. The artists intended this to be Mother Nature (Amy Lee) speaking to humankind (Oliver Sykes). Before i read this, I took it quite different. A relationship where one is suicidal, and the other wants nothing more than to help them, but realises there is nothing more they can do but see the situation for how it is.
right? I took it as a relationship between two people falling out. Like the butterflies was a reference of how you felt at the beginning of the relationship and now the only butterflies you feel is that your last breath
Most chilling part is, look at your interpretation then look at the artist’s intent. It’s the exact same relationship
@@SS-tu6kc yep, humanity as a whole seems to be suicidal, it’s the equivalent of burning the raft you’re on to stay warm instead of using one plank as a paddle.
I took it as...a person in a relationship with an addict. Funny how we mold music to fit our life experiences. That's what makes it beautiful💜
It’s truly amazing. I have associated it with my eating disorder. I‘m walking towards death and at some points the bruises will show even though I tried to ignore them.
Songs like these are beautiful. This is art.

Not sure a song has ever given me this many shivers!
One part I haven't seen many people talking about is the wonderful way the build to the end feels like it's rushed, like time's running out.
The piano accents the 1 of each bar, giving this almost dramatic ticking clock sensation, but the vocals keep coming in just a bit late, making it feel like they're slow, sluggish, just barely keeping up with the spiralling demise of the world.
And then it all ends.
And the very last note that ends it all and fades into silence is like the last embers of the earth slowly dying out into silence with nothing else left to observe it.
i love this take
even more egregiously, it's Amy who is out of tempo all throughout her final lines, while Oliver is the one whose accents in his words stick to the clock/piano as he's left singing alone
further hammering down how humanity can't keep putting deadlines on Mother Nature anymore, or how our cages of time in general mean nothing to her
A song doesn't need to be heavy to be heavy
Damn BMTH and Amy Lee should do more stuff together, this was pretty dark and epic

Once you learn that Amy is playing the part of Mother Nature and Oli is playing the part of humanity, the lyrics in this one hit. This song is an actual masterpiece.
When Amy decides to collaborate, you know oli has come a long way...
Actually, there was NEVER any hate between them AT ALL. Oli completely accidentally copied off of their music, and immediately settled on their lawsuit. He accepted blame and apologized deeply, Amy never pressed charges; it was their label. They both said they'd LOVE to collab at the time of the lawsuit, but nothing panned out. Oli has never had anything but pure respect for Evanescence/Amy Lee and likewise can be said for Amy. The interviews for this collab are so sweet and endearing, Amy really helped Oli during the process. You can genuinely tell that Amy Lee WANTED to do this and LOVED it so fucking much, her vocal performance and emotion is absolutely stellar. Absolutely baffling how well thought out every aspect of this song is.
@@Surrealyst IM STILL PISSED THAT THERE IS ABSOLOUTELY NO MENTION OF HER IN THE TITLE OR THE DESCRIPTION. THEY COULD HAVE AT LEAST DROPPED HER A HASHTAG! PEOPLE SHOULDNT EVER ASK IN THE COMMENTS OF A COLLAB "WHO IS THAT SINGING?" BECAUSE YOU SHOULD ALWAYS CREDIT EVERY SINGLE ARTIST THAT HELPED PERFORM THE FREAKING SONG! SO PISSED.
The alternative was Amy Lee's label was going to sue BMTH for ripping off lyrics from one of their songs. AMY: " want to do a song together?" OLI: "Sure... Don't sue me"

1:33 the clean guitar in the background reminds me of Blessed With A Curse and I get goosebumps everytime because it sounds so beautiful
Glad I'm not the only one who thought about this
Wow it really sounds like it
Exactly what I thought the first time I listened to it
I thought the same exact thing!!
I know this is about Earth and humans, but to me its something much more personal.
My wife and I are in a tough spot. She left me a couple of months ago, because she doesn't feel connected to me anymore. She doesn't feel like she can talk to me, and feels like I never made any effort to change it. With lyrics like "On the verge of no return, why'd you keep fucking it up?" and "The hole I wore into your soul has got to big to overlook" really hit close to home.
So to me this song has a different meaning, but it's still beautiful. And it brings me to tears.

"Love isn't in the air" the chord progression is so genius and melancholic, I'm crying
Ngl that part gave me louden vibes
As Oli has said himself, this song is about how young people will likely have to deal with the climate crisis in a near future... It feels really like Oli Sykes is that one voice who isn't scared and has nothing holding him back, and sheds light on the dark truths politicians, scientists and world leaders are too big of a p*ssy to say out loud to the public... This song, hell the whole Survival Horror album is a great example of that!
Well, not as if "fuck politicians and we're killing the world" wasnt a common subject of the genre.
I'm born in Generation Z and you're not wrong I'm often concerned with the future of climate change. We as humans need to take action not inaction as a race to make difference for climate change. I've been watching videos before about how to deal with floodings by coming up with creative solutions, and helping others prepare for any natural disasters.
@@luciathefemininewoman At this point I'm honestly thinking, why do we shut down the entire world when one microscopic virus appears in order to "protect to the elders"; sacrificing our usual ways of living in the process? But when it comes to protecting the planet for us youngsters in the future, we carry on like we're already on the edge, letting extensive flying and other consumption needs destroy the planet... I believe if they can find the right spin on it, the young climate activists can use the COVID lockdown as a weapon in their fight...
@@gargudon8720 Sorry what does microscopic means? I don't know about that type of virus. And I get you us youngsters feel alike the world is on our back, and responsibility and deal with climate change crisis.
Teaching the young people about climate change, and ways of how humans can deal with climate change crisis, and ways to prevent floods, build homes to prevent any natural disasters, and help people who are in need of supplies to prepare for any natural disaster avoiding plastic water bottles.
Let's be real we already have water at home to get clean water get different water filters, but you have to choose one for your needs. The point of this is help people prepare for any natural disasters. I take an elements of form class, and my last day of classes is next week. I recall watching an interesting TED-ed discussion you can find on youtube.
ruclips.net/video/ieSV8-isy3M/видео.html
This guy takes climate change seriously coming up with solutions to prevent flooding by thinking outside the box. Problem solving is important to utilize when dealing with something big alike climate change.
@@luciathefemininewoman Thanks; I'll definitely get around to watching it! And by microscopic virus I was referring to COVID 😜. It's ok if you want to call my following views cold, but I find it... weird that when a pandemic crisis appears, we are willing to handle instinctively and do everything we can to stop it, even if it means sacrificing society. On the other hand, world leaders think something as simple as idealism can change the inevitable climate crisis. It's possible we could do some effective preventing by going into similar, in this case preemptive lockdowns...
I always love how BMTH juxtaposes the video to the lyrics; at 3:38 the feed begins to short out and "Love isn't in the air" becomes increasingly emphatic. It really makes his message hit all the right points and increases the urgency of it. Our daydream of a salvageable world is dying with every day that we stave off addressing the problem.

My ex sent me this song to communicate how she felt about our breakup, and while this song felt devastating to hear in that context I am now so grateful for this song which I always used to skip on listen throughs of Post Human. I can't stop singing it, the bittersweet melody and the brutal honesty of the lyrics is helping me break out of a feedback loop. Bring Me The Horizon was our band, the music that brought us together. We watched the debut of the Parasite Eve music video when we first started dating, and she wasn't yet a fan. To have her reach out and use this song to speak to me and her experience is just so poetic and appropriate, we were in the car on a road trip when Survival Horror dropped for the first time and we experienced it together. @Anne B makes a lot of sense. I agree, this song IS relatable to everyone. It's heartbreaking and so, so beautiful.
I could listen to Oli scream "LOVE ISN'T IN THE AIR!" literally forever. It's beautifully haunting.

@@dravenripley9468 what is part 2!?!?!?
Man, when Oli screams "one day" in his verse, it gives me goosebumps every single time.
The sheer amount of power in their voices is mind-blowing and the two of them together just chills me to the bone. Amy has always had an otherworldly quality to her voice and to hear it paired so perfectly with Oli's gritty, earthy tones is something we could have only hoped for before.
I have not heard a track this intriguing in YEARS. once I heard the new melody enter before the transition to Oli, I truly felt entranced with the seducing, yet subtle tension that the line managed to express. It seriously felt like I was being put under a spell in that moment, which helps me understand the value of this song. Thank you so much for this song.
Oli's slow songs are always my favourites. The crescendo at the end of this one gets me deep in my guts. It feels like we're descending into chaos, and then, nothing. It fits so well.
My beloved grandma died last month. This song just came out. I can feel her presence in my body i miss her so bad.

There was supposed to be an Evanescence & WT tour this spring... It was pushed to autumn next year.
omg yes
Im really not the person to go to tours, but honestly if this is gonna happens I'll definelty see them if I can!!
I love the build up throughout the song. The soft vocals individually then when they sing together and then the ending getting heavier but ending with a single note. I'm obsessed with this song :)
WoW what a seriously deep song that resonates in one's soul.......Amy Lee's vocals and Oli's perfect blend.
This collaboration was just so... dark and majestic. They gotta do this again soon. Love the song.
1:28 please amy bring this pure haunting vogals sang in silence forever in your songs, they mean more than 738920101011 wordssssss
This song is like a fine wine. It just ages well. It still hits hard
My friend Chris was your biggest fan,08/20/2021 he hung himself, god bless his soul and thank you for providing him a source of freedom for the time that he had
chris
Me at the beginning of the album: OMG THE HEAVINESS IS BACK
Me at the end of the album: Why are we still here, just to suffer?
can we appreciate how pleasing this art is?
Bring Me the Horizon is taking over Linkin Parks place in my heart, anyone know what I'm saying? Oli Sykes is soooo good as a singer and screamer, very much like Chester Bennington was, and the band they play various kinds of style, like Linkin Park did
I'm telling you people, Bring Me The Horizon is better than any drug.
They both hold a very special place in my heart. There's room for both, and I love it.
No one can ever replace LP... Chester was and is one of a kind...
The fist rock band ive ever listened was LP and i feel you so much after this comment. But for sure LP has a special place in my heart
Have to admit, I’ve slept on BMTH up until their new album, but now I’m all aboard.
@@gryphon0468 great to have you with us mate
its very powerfull the contrasts with the melodies when oli starts his part. the song was passing through some kind of emotional path and when oliver start to sing the melodies turns into some chaotic atmosphere
I gotta admit, i first dismissed this song as "Oh another slow type of song" as im more of a fan of the hyped, hard stuff, but gave this a second chance and damn. It hits. It hits fucking hard. Cant say it's a song id be playing a lot compared to the rest of the album but damn is it beautiful.
I usually dismiss hard type like that 😂 "oh here goes another generic song"
@@MrShahid0072 yeah, i hate when i do it. Cuz it could be a good song or have a nice message but here i am like "Nah. SKIP!"
@@MartyAraragi haha yeah it's hard to stop your biases from taking over.
This song is so powerful and gorgeous
I can't stress it enough ... !!! This song is about humankind and the irreversible damage that we did to earth !!!. Knowing that, the lyrics get a new meaning :( You know I can't breathe on my own ...
Fucking masterful where’s the “amy lee can’t sing anymore” clowns at? Beautiful absolutely beautiful
I’ve legit listened to this on repeat since Friday and I still can’t get enough. These two together are a perfect match. Amy is out of this world with her angelic haunting voice. And I loveeee the vulnerable melodic side of Oli! 10 out of 10.🤟👏
1:34 - 1:47 why I'm crying all time on that moment?
2:08 that reminds me alladin and jasmine singing..
Because you are harping in the past and need to move forward on to more green pastures. I hope you find your way
Every time I listen to this it just gets more intense. strikes deep into my core.
Is it me, or a title of a song feels like a message?
Talking about the song itself, I LOVED IT SO MUCH.
3:00 i honestly don't know how but it gives me such a good vibe and goosebumps me by a whole.
This part is soooo powerful oh my. LOVE ISNT IN THE AIRRRRRRR
I thought there were "I feel so dead for you" in last lines
There were
I thought they said “nothing is in the end?
Nice avatar.
I'm very sure they sing both "love isnt in the air" and "I feel so death for you" but i dont really know what he screams or what he sings. no matter what verse you are listening to, its like they sing both and scream both, so there are 4 lines layered together i guess
The song ends almost seeming like it’ll go into the chorus another time, but it just stops. I wonder if that’s intentional, given the topic of the song...
like humans just expect the days to keep happening, similar to how I (and maybe others) expected the song to come around to another chorus and keep going. Only it just ends a bit suddenly against expectation, like how our lives might if we keep destroying the planet.
I’m also not too bright, and may have no idea what I’m talking about. Good shit though, BMTH. Thoroughly love the whole EP 👌🏽👌🏽
i thought i was the only one who thought this honestly
its UnResolved
Im alive but im dead

Sweet baby jesus......anything Amy does is magical, and this collaboration....my heart grew 3 sizes
2:33 that vocal medly is insane
I swear Amy Lee's voice could lure me to my doom.
There's something so healing about oli and Amy's voices together 🖤
The best ballas song from BMTH.. why in 2:42 make me so goosebumps to hear it??
