In this clip, Ppl Pleasr opened up about PleasrDAO buying Wu-Tang's 1-of-1 album "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin" for $4 million in auction. Ppl Pleasr called the album an "OG NFT," and then went on to explain possible plans PleasrDAO is working out with the album, including playing it for a group of people. Moving along, Ppl Pleasr spoke about the success of Bored Ape NFTs and how she was given 5 of them early on, and she explained how she gave one away and sold two. To hear more, hit the above clip.

@@christopher399 C'mon chris, do you think that I don't know they're still a group? What a lot of people don't know is that the wu (& all affiliates) are continually making music all the time. But what I meant by "bowed out" is in terms of that last official studio group album (not including the mathematics produced albums) but a better tomorrow was the last wu-tang album that they did, which was also their most disappointing album for me. Ghostface killah's 36 seasons album came out a few weeks after a better tomorrow & it was much better than the group album.

A lot of people? No... It's pretty common knowledge ha! At least for anyone who is a fan, but if you're not a fan, I'm not sure why you should know they are releasing new music. That said, Wu Tang members aren't super active as far as releasing new music goes. Ghostface Killah is the only one who has been consistent. I guess Raekwon somewhat, and U-God has been more consistent in recent years.
"Bowed out" implies it was their final album. It might be... But it also might not be. I think the only member who doesn't care too much about rapping anymore is Method Man, but he still raps.

But the NFT... Maybe I'm just old, but I don't understand it. When people post ape pictures of something they paid for, my instant thought is that I can just click "save photo", and now I have it for free.
There is a book called Digital Gold by Nathaniel Popper. It taught me a lot about bitcoin. I don't consider it a good investment, but I do see why it's useful. (I don't consider it a good investment because you literally own something that doesn't exist and can be replaced at any time. How will you be able to predict the value in ten years? Who's to say a new cryptocurrency won't take Bitcoin's place as the leader? At least if you own stocks in something like an insurance company, you own shares in something that creates value and I'd easier to predict. All that aside, cryptocurrency does have it's uses.)

This entire album was made for the money. It's not about the fans.
I do want to hear this album, and from what little I've heard of it (parts are available), it honestly sounds pretty great... But I still hate it. It's a big "FUCK YOU 🖕🖕" to the fans from Wu Tang clan. After all the support and love we've shown them over the years... This is what we get?

RZA disappointed me with this one. To sit down and make a Wu album that only millionaire fans are allowed to hear... F that.
And let's be honest, the album is unlikely to live up to it's hype. From what I've heard from this album, it actually sounds like some of their better work as a group. It sounds like a return to form. That's one of the unfortunate things. It's not going to be worth millions though. It's impossible to live up to it's hype.

From someone who has heard it, the album apparently sounds like some of their early stuff as far as quality goes. You can hear snippets online. It does sound better than other recent Wu releases for sure.
This was a come up for wutang at the end of the day they could've just put all their throw away songs on one album that they weren't gonna use anyways and walked away with 4 million 👍

I don’t think anyone aside from rza got paid from this project as far as the Wu goes. It was him and cilvarings project and the way they went about getting the verses from Wu members was kind of weird to say the least.
Hopefully they worked it out with this resale. I know RZA had mentioned that they were working on amending the contract to allow the owner to do something different with the album. My guess is that they amended it to allow for the album to be distributed to multiple buyers in the form of an nft. Let’s hope that the smart contract grants royalties to the rest of the clan every time the project is bought and sold.

We're talking the world of leased $500 features mediocre D list production.. Absolutly no way its even later 2010s RZA level production. @@tomizzo5314 obviously I haven’t heard it myself but I think you hit the nail on the head. I can’t think of a single Wu tang record produced by cilvarings. I think he was one of the dj’s that they would use when they were on tour in Europe.
From the snippets that were released, the album doesn’t sound great to begin with. They describe the album as a return back to the 90’s era Wu tang sound but I just don’t see it. Production by a virtually unknown dj featuring collabs with Cher does not sound like a 4 million dollar album to me…
Wu-tang had no involvement in the project, they never heard it. The album was put together by RZA and Cilva Rings. However months later it was uploaded on youtube for about 5 minutes then tooken down

I don't understand why people applaud RZA for doing this. It's shitty towards the fans. He literally made a Wu album exclusively for millionaire fans. That decision thankfully didn't amount to much... But what if it had caught on? What if it had been like the NFTs? What if a lot of artists started doing the same thing? He literally chose to ignore his fans, and decided to make an album that he knew fans wanted, but that only his millionaire fans would be able to afford.

He produced the album and came up with the idea and then he explained to RZA why the idea was a good one. I don't think they'd ever would've made as much money if they had released it the standard commercial way. Took me a bit to realise because i was pretty pissed off with it too, but looking at it hard I realized it was quite a genuis thing to pull off and now everyone is still talking about the wu-tang clan, 26 years on and i think its because of this album.

But even Thriller isn't worth paying millions for. No album is. 10-20 dollars. That's it. And that's generous, because for that price, we expect A LOT more than one album in the days of streaming.

Every Wu album is made that way, I think. They don't seem to be on the same page at all. It seems to be just RZA asking the different members to come and record their verses, and they just do their part and leave. That's the main reason why I don't understand why they bother to make group albums. They don't even work as a group anymore. Every time a new album gets released, I feel like different members voice their distaste in interviews, or sometimes even go as far as to say they didn't even know they were making a new Wu album.
