this is definitely my favorite fursuit maker channel, you explain things and SHOW them in a way that makes sense, even if it doesnt initially make sense you try to at least show the 3d intricate aspects of these designs, as well as allowing people to know fabric and fur is very forgiving so no sweat.

Could someone explain what is going on at the step at 5:14? I'm having trouble drawing the side curves so that the curved finger top matches the flat finger bottom when the finger top is held together at the dart.
basically just draw the curve however, then check it. if it doesnt fit, then change the curve! if it's too long then cut away some on the side, and if it's too short, add more to it. this process is all trial and error.

So I finally finished making the pattern. It needs some adjustments, but I'm mostly happy with it. Do I have to make the top of the fingers with individual paper or can I just draw extra fingers onto the fur and add darts there?

I have a question on how you make claws though, Didn't watch the video all the way through so that might be why. Do you take felt and sew it out into claws? And then attach it? Thanks
felt doesn't really make the best claws, you should make them from fleece or minky instead! and yes, just fold the fabric in half so you sew through 2 layers. there's a lot of claw patterns out there, just search google!
This is probably a very common sense question, but #1: Do I make one of these “heart shaped” pattern pieces for each finger? And how do I make the claw pattern?? More like how do I insert it into the paw once everything is made??
1. for the claw, simply draw the side shape of the claw you want! theres many different shapes and sizes you could draw for that. 2. as this tutorial is ONLY how to draft the patterns, im sorry i didnt show how to sew the claw into the finger, hopefully i can make a paw sewing tutorial very soon. 3. yes each of those heart shaped pieces is ONE finger!

hey! omg this video is so old im sorry. i'm hoping to remake it soon with even more information! if you dont want claws you can just make the tops the same pattern as the bottom, but keep in mind if you don't add that dart (the triangle cutout shape) to the top pattern, the fingers wont turn out as puffy! (still somewhat puffy if you stuff them but the dart helps it be even rounder!)

Is it okay if you can explain a bit more about the curve? :3 Sorry, I tried to make the curve a few times and ended up with something different for all my paw fingers (Paw fingers? idk) *Sorry for sounding confusing, by bad* Before hand I used to make on curve on one side, the cut it out and have it be the same in even-ness. In your video, you drew the line for both sides of the paw finger and they were different in size. That's where I was confused :< (Sorry that this was a bit long) Thank you! Btw loved the vidd!
Each side of the finger would have a different curve, yes. That's on purpose since fingers are not symmetrical on both sides. It's hard to give advice like this in RUclips comments tbh! Best I can do is, tell you to just keep practicing and follow the video, or if u want u can support my patreon to get into my discord and ill be able to video chat sometime to help you! Idk how other than videoing myself making another finger.

hi! thank you for watching! :) unfortunately there's no way to know exactly how much you make it bigger! you need to just test a lot and do trial and error. the first shape i tried gave me a good look, but you might test it out and want it even more round, so you would go back and edit the paper pattern :) that's just how it goes with pattern drafting!

Oh, I can totally try to do a tutorial/timelapse of that! I can show the process of my own handpaws and it should mostly apply to all patterns out there. Next time I make some I'll film it!!!
I’m just trying to help you a lil bit so hopefully this is helpful. I haven’t made my paws yet but I’m going to today and I have a lot of information. Trace you hand on a piece of paper. (For 4 fingered, put your pointer and middle finger together while tracing.) Then, draw how you want the paw to look on the paper while using the hand you traced, to make sure it fits correctly. You can make the paws in your own style, but make the paw “fingers” big and don’t make them the size of your fingers. Then make your paw pads. Cut them out and put the piece of paper on your paw “fingers” to see if you like it. Then follow this tutorial after you have your arrows for the way of the fur and marked the pieces of your pattern, (Cut the pattern out too xD) to make the second part of the pattern. (This is so it doesn’t look flat when you sew it together.) Now trace the pattern onto your fur and your fabric, then sew everything together. I recommend putting stuffing inside the paw pads so they look plushy. Lining them is something I still need to study a little bit more, but at this point you have paws you can wear and are finished on the outside. (Unless you want claws-)

Thats something for another tutorial honestly! This one is specifically just for making the pattern withOUT taping. But later I will try to film myself taping over the boar head and making the pattern from that so you can see.

I make them to order! So basically I don't make more until someone comes to me and asks for some. I currently am busy with other fursuit commissions right now though, so I don't know when I will be able to make more paws !

I never advertised it would be making the paws. I said it was how to draft the PATTERN. That's your fault for not reading :P and a tutorial has information and steps, my video had both of those things. I instructed on how to make the puffy paw pattern. I see no problem here.

How do you do this with masking tape on the base
Thats something for another tutorial honestly! This one is specifically just for making the pattern withOUT taping. But later I will try to film myself taping over the boar head and making the pattern from that so you can see.

What the hell am I meant do do when it's too small and doesn't fit when I hold the dart. I didn't understand this pattern at all
well it's not a pattern. it's telling you how to make your own patterns. if your paper is too small make a larger one.

I never advertised it would be making the paws. I said it was how to draft the PATTERN. That's your fault for not reading :P and a tutorial has information and steps, my video had both of those things. I instructed on how to make the puffy paw pattern. I see no problem here.
