I put an A8S on my 130 build today. It has one of the earliest Omnibus F3s I have. IBus would not work, checked everything mulitple times, still no IBus. Remembering this video on the F4 board, I moved the signal to the UART1 Rx. Changed it in BetaFlight and IT WORKED! Thank you JC!
Just for those who got F4 from Aliexpress. I've tested two alternative pins for iBUS (first and third one mentioned in the video) and can confirm that the first worked for me not the third one. Thanks for the useful tip.
for those with the pro board, i had a bunch of spare 4 pin 1.0 JST wire setups so i spliced that to the a8s wires making sure ground, 5v and signal wires were lined up and then connected it to the RX1 4 pin JST @ J5 on the board schematic. worked perfectly.
Fred F I miss him to, it makes me sick that someone this young, helpful, friendly and just a standup guy can have his life taken so quickly and human trash that aren't helpful in society rather harmful to it will live long healthy life's being hardcore drug addicts and thiefs.. it's sickening.
Well, well, well. A clear explanation, thanks. I bought a F4 board to use with my FS-IA6b just to practice on a online simulator. Series three boards wouldn't work. Yesterday evening I watched many video's on the F4 board, but the only pin I hadn't tried was RX3. So back on with the soldering iron first thing after watching this, Betaflight, enable serial rx on Uart3 and bingo, a rock solid connection. #Thanks
I have so much trouble to use ibus and I saw all your videos but thanks to teralift of rcgroup I now using ibus and keeping doing this videos there are very helpful
I have a CC3D REVO F4 board and I soldered my A8S receiver to RX6 and the ground/5v right below it...A few mins later, my receiver died... Im new to this hobby so I dont know if I messed something up or if I need to use RX1 or RX6 instead......???
If you want to run GPS with this F4 board- you need to use Uart6 for ibus, uart 1 for gps and uart3 for compass (inside the GPS module). I just finished doing that today for a new build.
Brother I have done everything right but I just can not get my esc¨s to work, I have only one wire connected from esc to f4 pro, and nothng happens. any idea?
Hey JC, I need some help: I have a revolt v2 FC and a IA6C receiver, I have some troubles in having those two connected. Where should I solder the receiver? I'm currently using TX1 for Ibus but RF1 cannot talk between the two, what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!
i got mine working by moving to a different uart but on the betaflight facebook page some have said you just have to bridge the sbus pads. can anyone confirm this? Also the manual said the board is preset to sbus without a need for bridging...
Hey blue, can you tell me what ports to connect my FS-iA6B RX too so it will work as I-BUS. I know how to connect to make it work ppm ( which is channel 1), but a little cautious on which port to connect on the RX ports for I-BUS? There are two top ports that say I-bus servo with 3 pins with ppm/ch1, ch2, ch3 and sens with ch5, ch6, B/VCC. Than I'll look at my (IRCFUSIONF3) board for a open uart, great video on FS-receivers and I have a better understanding on what to look for now.
I Have the F4 V3 , i cannot get ppm to work, there is a blob of solder on the sbus pad, not on the ppm pad. do i have to solder these togheter or what ? thank you
I already mentioned that, really sad. Now I am lacking of a UART port for Bluetooth functionality. I use a FlySky FS-I6S receiver, is it possible to use SBUS instead of IBUS with FS-iA6B transmitter that I can use the inverted port for SBUS and UART1 simultaneously?
yea it was rx1 i used, i did try and turn inverted of in cli but it still would not work with the standard ppm sbus pin. Thanks for the shout out keep up the good work
Cool, already done this to two F4 boards and didn't know at the time why I had to do it. Thought it was a hardware bug. It was a cheap clone board after all. Thanks for the info.
Hey Blue jus saw your video. I'm having some problems with I think bad signal (throttle) on punchouts like it's going into failsafe on my days f4 pro. If u have it hooked up how the manual says would it still fly but give problems? Just cruising around it seems work right. Would you just change it to a different uart and see if that solves it? I just don't want to fry anything. First build
Hi PBF. Great video. Quick question. Can I activate a 3 position switch via my omnibus board? I have a cheap PDB board that has some built in leds and a beeper that activate by a 3 position switch on the transmitter through a direct connection from the receiver. I was thinking that maybe its possible to bypass the receiver connection, and hook the PDB board directly to the flight controllers uart thingy. Id greatly appreciate your help. Thanks
PLEASE HELP!!!! just got finished giving the Flip32 Omnibus F4 a good home but cant get configured in BetaFlight. When I go to Ports set up and turn on UART1, UART1 stays on. But when I turn on the serial Rx tab it turns off the UART1 and the serial RX is of course off as well. Im trying to use iBUS with the FS-A8S receiver that I use with my Turnigy Evolution. I pulled this receiver from a Naze32 that worked fine. Any and ALL help is greatly appreciated. Peace
another awesome video dude!! and I've been struggling to get ibus working until I found the other UART ports but didn't know if they would work!! much appreciated!!
Hi , did you make it work in ibus ? i saw the hole video and i want to try it , but i dont know what do i need to turn on in Betaflight to make it work ? can you share an scree of the ports that i need to turn on if i connect it in Rx1
Blue Falcon, i have an Airbot F4 and i'm going crazy trying the ibus connection with the pins on uart3, it didn't work anyway. I'll try to connect ibus signal on RX1 on uart1. But you didn't say anithing an the ppm sbus fuses (seems to be fuses...) near the sbus/5v/gnd connections...i tried removing/breaking the R20 fuse (on my airbot f4, ithink to be the ppm one) but with no results...
Lol took me a while to work this out. Wish this video had come out a month ago. Bottom pin is Uart 1. While it works, I seem to have jittery roll on f4 boards, which I have never had on f3s.
+Project Blue Falcon - hey JC - have you tested this on an Omnibus F4 Pro (v2)? I can choose ibus on mine, using UART1 but I don't get signal, whereas with SBUS it seems OK. Thanks for all the videoy goodness.
plz sombuddy!! i had soldert all wire on ppm. like he explane on the other video. but is it okay just solder one wire '"the s'" from the other. were the 3 wire is on ppm.and leave all 3 wire on the ppm- and only take the signal wire. to one of the rx? So do i just take signal. and solder of nd over. and leave the other 2 wire on the ppm. or is it all 3 wire i need resolder to uart with S on the places he explane!! to get ibus! like i do un the brushed quad. there i use ibus. plz help!! my quad is open. hate PPM :-/ im so neeebi
I'm not at home now, so I can assure it 100%, but I have a BG clone of the Omnibus, and I'm quite sure I'm running i-bus on the sbus pin up to the right with no issues at all.
THX buy i got em soldert on the PPM. So can i bridge the signal. ?? to ibus? Or do i need to resolder it. from the locasion to the other?thx so mutch. using flysky i6 f4 cc3e :-) i loooking so mutch forward to know. bin stok for a while
wait how do you make ibus work on the normal sbus uart on the Flip32 F4 from ready to fly quads? I thought I tried everything and could only get it to work on SBUS with my tgy ia6c rx. I had to adjust all my end points and center sticks
On the F4 Omnibus the SBUS/PPM pin is actually Rx on UART1. But Ibus doesn't work on that pin because of the hardware inverter. There is a second Rx for UART1 on the board and it does work on that pin because there is no inverter on that side of the pin. It also works on the two other UARTS. On the F3 Omnibus IBUS will work on all UARTs and also the SBUS/PPM pin.
hello fellow noob here, was wondering if you had a video describing was the difference between sbus, ibus, and sbus? I really don't know how they handle different for flying.
sbus and sbus are the same ;-) Sbus and Ibus are both serial protocols. Ibus is only available on Flysky radios and those based on them (e.g. turnigy). You simply connect the ibus pin to the an SBUS pin or a RX Uart pin and then choose Serial Protocol on that UART in Betaflight ports tab and serial and ibus from the config tab. You'll need power to your reciever too. On some iBus RXs there a three pin connectort hat is ibus out and 5v DC +vie and negative, so you if you have pins (instead of little JST plugs) you can just use a servo connector on one and end and get the power for the RX through the same cable. I love the Flysky X6B RX - it has ibus/sbus, two replaceable antenaes and is about 1cm x 3cm in size and come with 2-3 3 pin JST to servo cables. (I cut off the servo plug and signl/ibus/sbus wire on one and use it for the telemetry voltage sense wire, which is also a 3 ping JST plug on the RX).
so my f4 pro v3 has the sbus solder pads for binding the x6b, youre saying that Sbus will work for Ibus being that theyre both serial rx? Also could I just solder the 5v, ground and signal to that little row of pins that says ppm/sbus 5v gnd?
I have a Airbot F4 and i'm going crazy trying the ibus connection with my X6b receiver. I used the F4 connector sbus/+5v/gnd that are probably on uart3, and didn't work in anyway. Now i'll try to connect the sbus/ibus cable from x6b to the RX1 pin as Blue Falcon was saying on this video.
What’s up bro. Hey can you help me please? I’m making an quad. I was having problems with the communication between betaflight and f4 and flysky but finally I got working now But not the problem is the radio control flysky is not controlling the quad I can see on betaflight when I move the joysticks but is nothing happens on my quad
Ps. You should all be using IBUS since the turnigy evolution came out. Nice radio, tiny flysky receivers. Seriously why wouldn't you?! Unless you fly fixed wing, in which case off you go to Taranis land.
all right there, my friend, I bot an omnibus f4 v3 from that banggood more like banggood ripoff,s lol not so funny when I whent to fit it soldered the pads for sbus dun exactly the way u show in your vid on how to connect and my sbus is not working now I bot also 2 5.8ghz transmitters are out working and all in the same delivery am thinking that all the stuff I got fucked what do u think toke soon I hope lol
i have v2 and it says to use IBUS you need to use the 3.3v pad on the board however the receiver I'm using needs 5v. I just wanna know if I can get away with just putting the SBUS to DSMX pad (which apparently supports ibus) and still use the 5v pad as well. I don't wanna ruin my board though.... Logically it seems even if it didn't work, it would not cause damage. But I'm not an electrician and logic doesn't always work. I mean, it's logical that the sun revolves around the earth.... but with a little knowledge you understand that's not true. ;>
Ohhhh JZ.... To nada for us ALL Cód calles you so early. As a father, o can imagine the pain in you parents Hearts. I pray God gives Them comfort. You are in a better place now. 😢😢😢😢😢😢
ruclips.net/video/JjaPWTTmryc/видео.html if you check here in the schematic right at the left of the pin for ppm and sbus there is a pin that you can solder to select which mode you need for the pin (middle and upper one for ppm and middle and lower for sbus) so in fact you can use this pin if you need it
Damn, you still helped me with my omnibus F4 ibus wiring even though you're long gone , RIP P.B.F
Year 2024, bought this board so I can start learning. You're still helping people. RIP
Your videos just make it soooo much easier for a first time builder. Thank you so much.

Well said bro
thanks for this update, was a bit disappointed when i couldnt get I-Bus to work on the s-bus pin, but this workaround will do me just fine.
how would you set up ibus on a omnibus f4 pro v3 ? my board looks different than this
Awesome news! Thanks to you and the guy who pointed that out.
woo! I was freaking out that mine didn't work and went through all your omnibus playlist. Might want to add this one to it too :) Thanks man!

Would this work on a omni F3 (or at least for sbus) using a Flysky x6b receiver? I asking because I can't get sbus or ibus to work on uart3, only ppm.
hi if you use the pins for tx1 rx1 for i bus where do you wire your gps on ch6/ tx6 ch4/rx6 and scl/tx3 and sda/rx3 thanks for the video

did you get it to work
I use the flysky and I have it connected to the sbus without any problems fs-i6b reciver I have the omnibus s3
Right. This video is only for the F4 Omnibus. The circuitry and inverters are different between the two.
Thanks
Can this be done on the pro board too?
i just solder the one wire - and i got ibus!!! hope i can fel it when i fly. from PPM. THX your the MAN!!!
well you get a steadier middle zone and the ability to use more than just 6 channels. or 4 channels or whatever it is for PPM

Does anyone know how to do this on the omnibus f4 v2?
I tried that on an OMNIBUS F4 AIO, but never got it to work. I needed an excuse to get a taranis anyway :D

thank's you, see us on the sky, rip.
I just use Rx3 on my Revo F4 boards. Rx6 didn't work.
Awesome just upgraded from naze32r6 couldn't get ibus to work then moved to rx1 pad and boom there is my signal.
Nice thanks you I was worried because I have a flysky and I omnibus f4 I was going to wire up tomorrow... thx again
