I don't think that is her last line. She is also on the lookout after Gohan is defeated and she helps Bulma collect the Dragonballs for her wish to revive the people Vegeta killed.
I really wish they did more with Videl, she was so interesting and had so much potential.. Seeing how she relates to the other Z fighters, building her up as a character and with her power.. Maybe training with Krillin and Gohan and hearing their adventures on fake Namek and real Namek. I'll take an entire season character development over flashy fights that mean little to nothing any day.

Gohan's recollection of the Cell Games is brilliant. He gets all quiet and serious, as if it haunts him to this day. He barely says anything, and even in front of the woman he loves it visibly affects him. Such great character work
Well of course, cell literally mentally tortured him into unlocking more power by forcing him to watch cell jr's beat up his friends. Also gohan didn't want to fight in the first place. Seeing android 16's head crushed infront of his eyes. And the beam struggle he did with cell to this day has to be the hardest thing he's ever done in his life.

I remember watching this scene like 3x throughout my life. It came up on my recommended today and I’m glad it did. I didn’t forget about this scene it’s just, it’s been a while. But everything about this is so wholesome and perfect. The music by Bruce, voice acting, the vibe of them flying. I really enjoyed gohans teen days when he went to HS. I was like 8 when I watched DBZ for the first time back in like 2009. Videls VA was very good. It fit her so well.
1:22 you can tell from Gohan's expression that he's still traumatized from fighting Cell. Despite all the horror he saw as a kid, Cell will always be the one that haunts him the most. And I can understand why Gohan chose to live a normal life rather than become a fighter. After all, he's not Goku, he's Gohan. His own person.

It depend on Ki, if your powerlevel is enough the Ki that radiate from your body will be able to protect you during flight, same as anything you wear or hold. All the Z fighter have the white aura when they fly fast. That's one of the unwritten rules in the Dragon Universe.
Because they're OP enough already and extra lenses is enough for the speed they fly at. When you go into the mach range you'll need shielding, and Ki enhanced individual are not made of alloy.

Think about all the stuff gohan has been through by the time he's a teenager: getting kidnapped by an alien, finding out you are the same species of that alien, watching your dad die fight and get killed against your uncle, fighting off more species of that alien and watching your friends die, traveling space and fighting a galactic emperor, fighting androids whos only purpose was too destroy your dad, then becoming the most powerful fighter on earth after beating a nearly invincible creature, but watching your dad die again in the process. Makes me think though... how much of the Saiyan and Frieza Sagas would Gohan actually remember? He was 4 when he fought the Saiyans, and he was only on Namek for a week when he was 5.
Toriyama always said he was bad at romance, which is why we always saw skips in the relationships. "They met each other" Three year skip "Now they have babies" Videl was actually his first try at it, at least in Dragonball. Not bad if you ask me.

In the lore it says saiyan-earthlinghybrids have strong potential to be strong but they don't have the same drive of fighting and training that pure blooded saiyan does so it makes sense Gohan was stronger back then but eventually Goku and Vegeta will surpass him.

During the tournament of power even after not fighting for a long time after a few short months of training he is right back at his full power able to go toe to toe with Goku even in blue before he got exhausted. if Gohan would train as much as Vegeta or Goku he'd be unstoppable
You can really see the change in the art style. It is crazy when you even compare the character designs from the first time you see videl to now, in this clip.

Goku had a LOT of techniques he should have taught to everyone. Not just Instant Transmission, but spirit bomb, and kaioken (For the humans and Piccolo) which could have been useful. That's one thing I liked about dragonball, was that some people actually shared techniques, and techniques were learnable by observing (like Goku copying the after-image). But in Z, the only real learned technique passed on was Gohan learning Masenko and everyone who learned Super Saiyan. It's a lot of stupidity that some of the more useful techniques weren't taught, or that the other Z fighters couldn't develop similar techniques. I think it would have been cool if at least Vegeta learned Whis's teleportation in Super, cause at least that way there'd be more teleporting techniques available. But I could go onto a whole rant about techniques that should have been taught to the group, and how some should have gotten or made new techniques.
Hei Darkfire Ummm, going to put a bit of that on King Kai. When all the earthlings and Piccolo died from Nappa and went there, King Kai could have taught them kaioken and Spirit Bomb as he was the one who taught Goku both of those techniques.
I know... And yeah, King Kai DEFINITELY should have taught the earthlings those techniques which I thought it was weird he never did. Hell, Kaioken might have helped Piccolo against Frieza (though not too much as it's doubtful he'd be strong enough to take on final form Frieza even with it). But there's no reason Goku couldn't have taught it to them as he had plenty more chances than King Kai did especially after he got Super Saiyan and they would have needed something to keep up.
I wish Videl still had this kind of character. She was so fleshed out during the Tournament/Buu arcs and then she just became another mother character and lost her character.

Because they're OP enough already and extra lenses is enough for the speed they fly at. When you go into the mach range you'll need shielding, and Ki enhanced individual are not made of alloy.

Goku had a LOT of techniques he should have taught to everyone. Not just Instant Transmission, but spirit bomb, and kaioken (For the humans and Piccolo) which could have been useful. That's one thing I liked about dragonball, was that some people actually shared techniques, and techniques were learnable by observing (like Goku copying the after-image). But in Z, the only real learned technique passed on was Gohan learning Masenko and everyone who learned Super Saiyan. It's a lot of stupidity that some of the more useful techniques weren't taught, or that the other Z fighters couldn't develop similar techniques. I think it would have been cool if at least Vegeta learned Whis's teleportation in Super, cause at least that way there'd be more teleporting techniques available. But I could go onto a whole rant about techniques that should have been taught to the group, and how some should have gotten or made new techniques.
Hei Darkfire Ummm, going to put a bit of that on King Kai. When all the earthlings and Piccolo died from Nappa and went there, King Kai could have taught them kaioken and Spirit Bomb as he was the one who taught Goku both of those techniques.
I know... And yeah, King Kai DEFINITELY should have taught the earthlings those techniques which I thought it was weird he never did. Hell, Kaioken might have helped Piccolo against Frieza (though not too much as it's doubtful he'd be strong enough to take on final form Frieza even with it). But there's no reason Goku couldn't have taught it to them as he had plenty more chances than King Kai did especially after he got Super Saiyan and they would have needed something to keep up.

I really miss TEEN Gohan, you know, the one that was actually a badass. This scene made me miss him even more even though that's him right there, except not the teen one. They really threw him under the bus after the Cell Saga. Wasted potential at its best.

Anyways. I think it would have been fine not having Gohan be badass in the Buu arc so maybe they could let Gotenks or someone win against buu. that way its a fresh hero for every major arc. Sadly it didnt go that way though.
Yeah I know it would make sense to call the Gohan in this video teen Gohan but he is referred to as adult Gohan, even though he's 18. And then kid Gohan refers to him when he was a baby. Makes no sense lol but that's how it is.
Anyways, the original plan after the Cell saga was to make Gohan the main character, not Goku anymore. That's why the writers made him (Goku) sacrifice himself. But so many butt hurt Goku fans basically fucked that up by constantly complaining. That's what's really disappointing. All that effort into building Gohan's character was to make him the main character. But then that didn't happen so that's why we have the Gohan we have now.
Gohan is the guy who get shy to admit that he is the one who save the world!
