If you don't care about any of the expensive crap you can just buy new shrimps when some of them die and you wouldn't have spent as much money. I intentionally don't make a laboratory out of my fish tanks, because I don't want to breed sissies, I only want the hardy ones to reproduce.
Sweet looking tank Mike, I am sure the orange Neos will settle in well and hopefully breed up a strong colony. I would call the tank "Valley of the Neos" Peace, Ben
Nice Tank Mike, those rocks are giving that tank a very mountainesque vibe. So name it MOUNTAINESQUE. Not an actual word, but a special new word for this bomb tank. :)
Great video again Mike! Wow I love the tank! It looks really nice, great job! What do you use to edit your videos? *Keep up the good work and thumbs up!*
Nice scape. You just took me down trough a trip on memory lane. I used worm castings on my first planted aquarium way back in 2006. That stuff is loaded with nutrients, grew plants non stop for a long time. And I used akadama is subsequent scapes right up until 2011. Only stopped because it became hard to find after the earthquake and tsunami in 2011. You just give me an idea about retrying these too again.
Hi I used 24/7 mode on a high tech planted tank. it ran great but one day i woke up to hair algae on EVERYTHING. it was like someone dumped a bunch in my tank overnight. I ran it on a 10g with PPS-PRO ferts and paintball co2. Hope this helps you out! Your tank is much taller than mine was so your PAR will likely be lower (which may be better) than what mine was.
Have you still got this tank on the go with shrimp? How is it getting on with the akadama and wormcastings? Probably woulda been overgrown out the tank with the akadama with the high drainage but if you still have it post an update a year on would be good too see it now
I have the new Finnex 24/7 SE and have been running it in 24 hour mode. It's been growing s. Repens, java moss, java fern, water wisteria, bacopa, Anubias nana, and ludwigia red like damn weeds. Love the light and my betta does too. Keep up the awesome work on the Channel!!
AQUAPROS I also use the 24/7 mode, I love it! But I find that for my 55 gallon its not enough to run a high tec tank, so I've added another led light that is on the same timer as my co2. The second light and co2 are on from 11am to 6pm. At 6:30pm the 24/7 mode brightness is low enough that it doesn't result in algee for constant light. This way I always get to enjoy my tank!
+channelwhywhywhy link to akadama and other stuff is in the descrip. Plants: anubias nana petite, random bucephalandra, s.repens, hairgrass, java moss, xmas moss, pogostemon helferi and altenanthera renekii
How many blue velvet shrimp can I put in my 5 gallon shrimp tank, it’s cycled and I got some plants, they have enough room to swim and what not and it’s not too many plants, but how many can I put in?
need help hawe a 60 gallon with only light can i use my heater and filter from my 100 litres aquarium. it os for chiklids.. need help as fast as possible
I live in tropics. I really don't think I need a heater. Do I. My water never realistically gets below 23 C. I know that is slightly outside the ideal parameters for these shrimp. Do I need the heater or a different variety of invertebrate? Thanks! Your videos are great. You seem to address the real issues that pop up as builds unfold. That is what makes this a great channel. Thanks!!
I'd like to see how the more experienced fish keepers, such as this guy, Cory, Rachel, even Joey work with a 'jarrarium' and the problems a tiny water volume can cause.
hi Mike thanks for the vid. I found a local supplier of akadama. none the kind you showing on your video. I'm curious can you use any kind of akadama for shrimp tanks??
Hey, I have a little question. I want to add 2 cpos in my 175l Tank with fish and shrimp in it. I know that the cpos are aggressive but is it possible to add them?
I want to start up a planted tank soon and this will be my first tank but I am not sure what substrate I should use. Would you reccomend pool filter sand or eco complete.
hey quick question for you. I'm starting up a 10 gallon shrimp tank thinking of having blue velvet and red Crystal shrimp in it with some baby tear carpet and some other plants that I haven't decided on. I was going to use the fluval plant substrate and was wondering if I can just use that or should I put something underneath it if so what? also was going to get the fluval 20g co2 system is it any good or should I just get the 88g so I can put the paint ball tank on it any help would be great thanks
I'm just wondering about the worm castings. I used some in my planted tank and it seems to be crazily raising the ph (8.9). So I don't know... have you tried testing the ph of worm castings?
Can anyone refer me to info about raising pink shrimp (penaeus duarorum) in a brackish tank? Equipment; how to set it up and maintain it; feeding; tank cycling, where to buy starter population? I have a bare 20 gallon tank with no substrate, filter, oxygenate, plants, rock, wood or moss, water parameter test equipment, etc. I need a step by step on what to buy where and what to do.
I would name it the oompa loompa tank because the orange shrimp & the green plants remind me of the oompa loompa colors lol. Also the worm castings look like dark chocolate & the akadama looks like milk chocolate haha
I use akadama for my bonsai trees and iv recently started keeping aquariums as a new hobby iv used akadama for years it'll last 3 years as soil for my trees and will breakdown to a solid clump! Im using it in my.100l tank just now but do rinse it out and even though its clay its got a neutral ph we have to use ph up and down chemicals if needed for the bonsais so it wont effect rhe ph atoll in water! Just beware it may look like florite red etc but it does break down pretty easy especially IBARAKI akadama 18kg bags the super hard akadama is abitty better still breaks down with water theres a volcanic rock called kyodama u use to mix through it for drainage its a pumace like substrate white and looks good in tanks
I've been wanting to run my finnex in 24 hour mode, but don't know how to time the CO2, putting both on a timer has been my go to. I've been a bit scared to experiment, so if anyone has a suggestion, let me know.
getting no updates on mangrove tank.. please upload a video dedicated to that tank super excited . please and will get a t-shirt sure. thanks for this video after a long time.
can't wait to see the tank .. very much excited. u and joey are the reasons that i have started this hobbie . thanks for the awesome videos and advise.
So I was wondering, I just got my first betta tank and I planted what the man at the pet store called moneywort. Would I need a special light for that to grow? Also my tank is a little cloudy. What can i do for that?? Thank you! Love your vids
Great channel! Been watching for a while now. I've had the finnex planted+ 24/7 se for close to a month now cycling my own shrimp tank (20L). I've been using the 24/7 mode since day 1 and i can say it will definitely grow plants! It will definitely grow algae too, like someone else mentioned. Light only goes off for 4 or 5 hours which isnt enough. Love how the light looks in 24/7 mode just wish you could choose how long to run that cycle. All in all building my own leds next, super easy with the kits out there and you can have full control. You can even get the new WIFI controller! Honestly The Tech inside the finnex light is old and not being driven efficiently hence why that driver on your plug gets super hot and they tend to stop working over time. Samsung did just drop their new chip, which makes everything else go down in price! So now is a good time to find deals on the "old" but still way newer than finnex chips. Sorry for the ramble, you just put out soo much great info that i couldnt help but try and give back a little. Thanks
Leaving the 24/7 mode on through the night without an off period will invite an algal bloom. I like the 24/7 mode because it's brightest period is only 3 hours but the night feature is a concern.
I'm glad you chose not to use he java fern any longer. the choice of the plants suits more that tank. I think you should try to get a Crinum calamistratum in this tank. to me, this is a great shrimp tank plant.
I'm considering a small shrimp or betta tank for our 'office' for when my partner works from home but with a cat in struggling to find ways to make it less stressful for the inhabitants. I have a 50gal scape in the living room but with the plants and hiding spaces its easier, I dunno how to make a safe secure enclosure on such a small scale without taking away swimming space :-/
GH and KH will not be effected by anything you put inside of the tank. The only thing that would effect the GH and KH of your tap would be a soft rock that would actively be breaking down and adding to the total hardness of the water. Your substrate may lower the PH slightly but it might fluctuate anytime you add new water to the tank as the hardness of the water will buffer the PH back up.
Ohhh, yeah. Looks like a nice set up for some shrimp. My lady knows where her food is coming from. She loves fish. I think it's just a tangent to move to shrimp? (she loves shrimp too) Lobster?

Aquarium Co-Op Ofcourse they are, they are from you, all of your fish and shrimp are fantastic! :D
The aquarium hobby certainly isn't cheap!
If you don't care about any of the expensive crap you can just buy new shrimps when some of them die and you wouldn't have spent as much money. I intentionally don't make a laboratory out of my fish tanks, because I don't want to breed sissies, I only want the hardy ones to reproduce.
dude that shrimp tank looks awesome.
Awesome tank! I'm actually really fond of the hardscape you went with, super cool and very zen mountain-esque!
+MeloMoogle 😁
I think the scape came out great! Can't wait to see what it looks like when it's grown in a little more.
I really like the way you got the rocks set up in that tank.
First time viewer here and I liked what you did. Just awesome!
Nice set up and I really like all of your details.
+Eric Luna Thanks Eric :)
Solid rock work there mate, looking great!
Sweet looking tank Mike, I am sure the orange Neos will settle in well and hopefully breed up a strong colony. I would call the tank "Valley of the Neos" Peace, Ben

looks nice so far

On your agro brite t5s, can you take out bulbs to make the light leas bright? i bought a 4ft 4tube for my 55, but its a little insane
Looks amazing
What a cool tank!
+Mypetlife101 Live Thank you very much :)
what do you recommend for a pH test kit
it looks great!!
How do you know how amout of the pf kh and anything ??

Any chance you could list out all the elements including substrate and plants?

Awsome video thanks been wanting to try a planted tank they look so cool and natural. Also ordered a purple T with the green logo looks good c ya man
what temperature are you keeping your shrimp at and how long are you running the lights in this tank? Beautiful tank.
Awesome tank man!
What temperature do you keep your tank at for shrimp?
need help hawe a 60 gallon with only light can i use my heater and filter from my 100 litres aquarium. it os for chiklids.. need help as fast as possible
Your tank looks beautiful. I didn't see you adding water conditioner. Is it not required?
The shrimp look awesome how big will they get
Are you using a chiller or cooling fans to cool the shrimp tanks?
+heckz cheapskate not yet, when summer comes the tank might get above 80 wich is not ideal, ill prolly try a small fan
can you provide me a link to where you got the stone from thank you

The t-shirts are available in Italy?

You should definitely add a school of Emerald Green Rasbora.
Yeah, love this video man!
tank looks great! You added shrimp without the tank being cycled?
What substrate did you use for your 125
+Reej White soil and sand/gravel mix
What was the plant he used to carpet at the front, esrepins?
+Cammy Dough s.repens
AQUAPROS yay thank you so much gonna put some of that in my shrimp tank
hi Mike thanks for the vid. I found a local supplier of akadama. none the kind you showing on your video. I'm curious can you use any kind of akadama for shrimp tanks??
Mike I need your help! How much did your entire co2 system cost for your 125 gallon tank? I am setting up a 125 and want to run co2 on it.
+Reej White 60 for the co2 tank, 90 for the regulator, about 25 for tubing and a diffuser
Hey, I have a little question. I want to add 2 cpos in my 175l Tank with fish and shrimp in it. I know that the cpos are aggressive but is it possible to add them?
What do you feed your shrimp?
It`s a great idea to use Akadama soil in aquarium. I want to try it next time.
My AR looks like yours and only grows about 6 inches max, usually stays around 3 - 4 inches with no trimming.
Beautiful tank!
Question - Can I do a rimless 30 breeder conversion? Will it hold. Also, can I do bottom and top rim removal?
I want to start up a planted tank soon and this will be my first tank but I am not sure what substrate I should use. Would you reccomend pool filter sand or eco complete.
Looks great nice vid
Looks great! I have a 70l sat in my attic just begging to have something done to it and this might just push me!

That's kinda what I thought, it after testing the rocks with acid I can't think what else it would be
Looking good Mike, and i dont mean the tank......

maybe :) im tempted to go heavier to help prevent disturbances by the cat

You need to carpet Hemianthus Callitrichoides 'CUBA'
Great video
What do u feed ur shrimp? I have cherry shrimp in my aquarium. Great looking tank by the way. Loving the aquascape.
MIKE THIS TANK SHOULD CLEARLY BE CALLED ' THE ORANGE PALACE '
+Isometric Aquariums 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂LOVE IT
